  1. The yellow bands should reach to the wingtip lights.
  2. For my AZmodel WX-D I took the racks from CMR resin Spitfire Mk.IXc.
  3. Really? And what about Spitfire Mk.XIV? P-40 and P-51D are also strong in this competition. Academy Fw 190 F is still the only 'short' 190 I have built, more than 10 years ago. I'm not defending it. Since then we got cheap Revell, Airfix and Zvezda plus excellent Tamiya and Eduard, so there is no need to start with Academy kit now. But I'm not going to bin my Academy model even when I'll have the later ones finished.
  4. I prefer Revell. Hasegawa has some shape issues I don't like. Hobbycraft has wings and tailplanes moved about 3 mm forward. It is a copy of Italeri which had only tailplanes (post Block 15 version) moved and too close to the wing. Hobbycraft noticed that and... moved the wing too. Here is how to correct it: Revell wins hands down, however it is very hard to find it now. I agree. Bulged doors are available from Attack Squadron. I haven't built it yet, but it seems you're right. If you have Revell F-16B and C, you can move the additional "C version" frames to B kit and build F-16A and D. My F-16s[ (various kits) are here. Currently I have Polish F-16C and D in progress (Revell).

    1/72 Buchon

Two "Battle of Britain" movie Buchons in 1/72: Classic Plane Special Hobby
  6. If you start with Airfix P-51D (as I did), even the filler is not needed.
  7. Thanks Ivor, brilliant and unseen photo!
  8. The side (partial) view seems to be correct. Look here. Upper view and full side views are wrong in the nose section. EDIT ...or otherwise:
  9. Here you can get the explanation. Generally it is OK but has some issues in unexpected areas. What can be easier than fit of upper and lower part od a wing? The parts here are done in a strange way (see the instructions) - some upper surfaces are molded with lower part and vice versa. This results with need of most of sanding in the build. But on the other hand, the completed wing with air intake and fillet fits perfectly to the fuselage along quite complicated join line - you even get correct dihedral. Another issue is trapezoidal inset in the rear part of upper wing fillet. Apparently a louvers part should be fit there, but no such part is in the kit. You are left with the hole and enjoy it or help yourself. I tried to make such louvers but I'm not satisfied with them. The canopy could be thinner (for better view to the well detailed cockpit) and shorter to fit in closed position. OK, I know it is a bit insane to put PE part to the cockpit and then close it, but that's the way I do. If you like you can open the cockpit and airbrakes plus lower the flaps which gives much more "living" model out of the box. You can even buy a engine set for the kit, however there is no open nose option yet. The Iskra in 1/72 is the first injection molded kit from Arma Hobby, who is known and appreciated of resin kits. Therefore some issues can be forgiven. I'm looking forward for their upcoming kits.
  10. TS-11 Iskra bis DF nr 1714, 3 Lotniczy Pułk Szkolno-Bojowy (Aviation Battle Training Regiment), Bydgoszcz, October 17, 1990. On July 2, 1994 the aircraft crashed in Oleśnica. The pilot, mjr Piotr Siekański, was killed. I witnessed this tragic moment. The kit: Arma Hobby Deluxe 1/72.

    SMER MB 200

Four years ago the ~25 years old kit was renewed by KP. I suppose the Smer kit will be the same as the new edition:
  12. All the sets are included (x2) in the Deluxe kit. The Expert kit contains the Interior PE details, but no resin parts. There is also Resin+PE engine available only as separate set. Bombs are announced as part of future kits. No news about nose interior (the nose cover is often removed for service).
  13. Yes, it has been announced. It will be released "before the kit with Indian markings". No further details given.
  14. When my son started Spitfire XIX I took up to find a good formula for PRU Blue using Gunze C paints. I found a "50/50 MSG with Azure Blue", but in my opinion it was too light compared to MSG on the Spitfire. So I mixed 50/50 Ocean Grey with Azure Blue and I like the result:
  15. Frog (AKA Novo). Well done. Be careful with main landing gear - my Lightning's gear collapsed after some years of standing with nose and engines full of lead.
  16. Correction: She had ID stripes on the wings and probably on tailplane too. Note also yellow stripes along the whole leading edge.
  17. If you care about accuracy and do not want to waste your time, keep away from MasterCraft/Mistercraft kits. They are reboxed or poorly copied old kits of other manufacturers (KP, Frog, Hobbycraft, ZTS Plastyk etc.). If you really need one of them, better take the original edition.
  18. This is my Italeri Rafale B with Model Alliance decals: As far as I remember the only significant problem was incorrect shape of the fuel tanks. They were axially symmetric and should have rear ends bent up. I corrected it and also made new fuel tanks pylons. The raised panel lines are hardly visible so the model looks good when compared to the real thing: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/1/0/2/1118201.jpg
  19. Thank you all for your kind comments. Sorry, no WIP thread. The exhausts were first glued together, but separate from the rest of the airframe. Then they were painted Aluminum (Gunze C8), front ring and porcupine pipe masked off and the rest was painted Gunze Steel. I removed the masks and sprayed all a mist of Brass. Then I used Gunze Red Brown paint, Tamiya Weathering Master set D and light brown dry pastels here and there. Finally I applied brown Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color on the whole surface and did not remove any excess.
  20. Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI X8005 EW-R, Polish 307 Night Fighter Squadron, Exeter, January 1943. Crew: Capt. Gerard Ranoszek (3 victories, 2 damages) and Sgt Jerzy Trzaskowski or Capt. Stanisław Sawczyński. Kit: Hasegawa 1/72. Decals: Techmod.
  21. I warned you... "Buy them at your own risk. Or better don't buy them."
  22. Sure. Both Germans, both in F1, both were the best and both suffered head injuries.
