  1. One collector ring my be simply newer.
  2. Hervoragend!!! The best is the first one, Von Richthoffen's Dreidecker. Cheers! G.
  3. Unfortunately not. Had no time, little children, home move... But this project is very high on my list. Cheers! G.
  4. Excellent choice! Urbanowicz was quite a personality, his book "Fire over China" is not lesser masterpiece of literature than Saint-Exupery's books. Not just a recollections of a pilot, but true literature. The sign under the canopy saying "we do not beg for freedom, we fight for freedom" is - AFAIK - known only from verbal statement, not confirmed by any photo.
  5. Very cool! I only wonder if the cannon fairings on the DZ-Z photo are complete or they lack the front parts (probably conical). The holes the barrels stick out through of the fairings seems to be very big.
  6. One can also correct the structures on the cockpit walls - these were copied from PZL P.24 (monocoque-stressed skin) model too, while P.11 should have it completely different (traditional metal frame).
  7. I've compared the kit with three or four sets of drawings (AJ-Press too, IIRC) and the result was similar. Here is comparison with Stratus plans: And here how to correct (I think these are AJ-Press plans, but I'm not sure): ...as you see, it took about 4 minutes. Here is correction of the area between the cockpit and wing: And here for comparison the original Azur fuselage (bottom): Almost all the problems with the Azur P.11 comes from the fact that this kit was made rather hastily, using parts of the PZL P.24 (very accurate and prepared with proper care). Czech producer economized a lot on this modifications so in P.11 box we get completely unchanged P.24 wing (with panels for additional guns, impossible to correct due to corrugations on the wing, and that wrong wing-fuselage joint). Wing needs removal of all the "fins" on the top surface, those on the bottom could be finer too (truly these were very thin stripes of the bent metal, used to rivet ribs with surface): Very crude and squarish is the area where undercarriage struts meet fuselage and wing struts (originally these were finely faired), very simplified engine (despite complex 3D visualisations published earlier by the producer - I think that was the source of Polish modellers disapointment with this kit). Also "sharp" line between fuselage and fairing behind the headrest is wrong, original plane had it very soft: here more pictures of the original in Krakow Museum: http://f3f.zielnik.karpacz.pl/index.php/2012/07/11/pzl-11-odbudowa-latajacej-repliki/
  8. Super cool! And you're the first person I know who noticed that these PuW bombs had various colours!
  9. It's not THAT bad. Before Roden we had 1/72 Aviatic (Berg) D.I and HB D.I from Toko company (very similar to Roden) - now these kits are sometimes available as Eastern Express. Czech MAC makes pretty cool Phonixes D.I, D.II and D.IIa. In 1/48 there were several Czech kits of Berg and even HB D.I. (Eduard and pre-Eduard, Flashback I think). I think all of them still pretty available. In resin Choroszy makes lots of 1/72 Austro-Hungarian machines in very high quality, including Mises heavy bombers and various flying boats. You may add AZ-Model HB B.I (1/72) and Special Hobby Lloyd C.I (in both 1/72 and 1/48 I think).
  10. Wouldn't the lime tree wood be better for such build? Still, you're doing great!
  11. Very interesting! By the way, Legion Condor never used Savoias. It was German unit, using German airplanes. Italian aviators in Spanish War were called Aviazione Legionaria ("Legion's Aviation" - pretending to be air part of the Spanish Foreign Legion).
  12. Sooo beautiful! (but should be more green IMHO)
  13. Very cool build! Our whole family are great Miyazaki fans! Almost every his film has aviation-related topics.
  14. As tonyot has written: use several thin, really thin layers. 3 or 4. First one will look awful. Don't worry. Wait till dries. Then apply the second. Still awful, still don't worry, wait another several hours. The third will look much better, fourth should do it. Paint should appear thinner than you expect. That allows you to paint properly thin layers. Train on scrap parts. It's all not so difficult, one has only stay calm through the first two-three layers.
  15. For me the earliest Gustavs (G-4 or G-2) in African camo are the most intersting! http://sklep.kagero.pl/messerschmitt-bf-109-in-north-africa.html
  16. I assume that you know the story of Polish 1/145 Group of daredevil pilots who flew Caudrons despite the fact that French authorities have grounded their aircrafts? Lots of photos - mostly made by Germans after fall of France are available. There is Polish-Canadian drawing available:
  17. Cool! When I was 10 my father made something similar for me, using PZW P.11c fuselage, Plastyk Yak 1 wings and Plastyk PZL 37 Los engine.
  18. On my Blenheim I'm experimenting with dark grey base covered with very thin layer of black artist oils. After some days i remove parts of black with ear-bud. Looks good. Panel lines IMO on dark finishes should be lighter not darker than base. Remember that Defiant had Special Night Finish, different (more black and soothy) that "normal" night.
  19. I guess that L1285 is a training plane. It's got narrow yellow roundel ring on the fuselage. And day camouflage. Maybe even yellow undersurfaces? And this bomb rack. Quite strange set. Anybody's got another photo of her? I wonder if it has a turret or not. BTW, I have a photo of turretless Blenheim IV, it is 1943 personal transport plane of general Anders, commander of 2nd Polish Corps in Africa.

    Airfix 2016

The 2015 Airfix announcements are awesome, but... what about 1/72 metal-wing Hurricane I??? And why there is no new 1/72 vehicle? Sherman Firefly? Churchill? Crusader? Matilda? There is no proper 1/72 Crusader available! And no decent Matilda too! These are pretty popular tanks! Anyway, I'm very happy.
