  1. This is looking like a build to watch. Excellent work so far. Glad the decals made it in one piece.
  2. Art of Modelling is perhaps the best of the current crop of digital model magazines and is pointing in the right direction. http://ipad.artofmodelling.be I have to agree that the digital clones of paper magazines are not using technology to its best but in their defence they are cheaper and save on a lot of physical storage space.
  3. https://m.facebook.com/IPMSPanaviaTornadoSIG?id=208255245974656&refsrc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch&_rdr I've posted a few sprue shots on the Tornado SIG Facebook page
  4. Fred Aldous in the Northern Quarter has Humbrol paints (enamel and acrylic) and Airfix kits. The kits are on sale on their website, so I wonder if they are planning to stop carrying kits?
  5. Popped in to the Manchester Modelzone for one last time. With the basement closed, it seemed strange to have the kits back on the ground floor.
  6. popped into the Trafford centre today. Quite sad to see it like it is. A reasonable selection of kits and shop fittings for sale. Will try and pop into Liverpool or Manchester tomorrow to see what Tamiya paints are left.
  7. I was stopped at a red light just south of Preston/ Blackburn this afternoon and saw a vc-10 fly quite low overhead (around 3000/ 2000 feet). I didn't spot a special tail marking. Was it a retirement fly past?
  8. A real shame. Hopefully something will emerge from the ashes.
  9. Can't tell what the long term debt is. seems like a reasonable assumption though. If memory serves, Jessops were sorted out in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, Modelzone stores, unlike Jessopns can stay open throughout.
  10. Having a quick look at the financials dated June 2012 seems they went bust just before the annuals accounts are due. They had around £9m of short term assets with short term debt of £5.5m, which on the surface is not too bad . The problem is that £6.3m of assets is tied up in stock, which is not particularly useful when the rent cheque is due. This explains the deep discounting that seems to have been semi-permanent recently. The other problems seems to be long term debt. Long term liabilities of nearly £9m. Add on a £1.8m overdraft and I wonder if the bank wasn't willing to plug any short fall and they pulled the plug? Not sure what story the 2013 accounts would have told either. Modelzone Holdings Ltd makes a reasonable gross profit from selling kits etc but it turns to a loss when all the overheads are deducted. Will they survive? God only knows but with a turnover of £33m I'd hope so. Perhaps they will go the same way as Jessops, surviving but in a very much stripped down form with a lower cost base.
  11. With the exception of the intakes I use FS16622, Xtracrylix XA1140 is my preferred brand. I then dry brush this with white to get a very very pale grey. Still not pinned down the intake colour, I've seen some pictures with a pale grey but other seem to have a metallic tone. I'm guessing your ECR is in Norm '95 scheme so I'd be tempted to use Fs36375
  12. Fantastic build Jet Provosts always bring back happy memories of Church Fenton air displays.
  13. Really impressive art work, I especially like the Tornados
