  1. I agree see if you can do the wood finish, would (sic) look fantastic otherwise Black & Silver or Black & Gold (70's JPS, Lotus, Colin Chapman) in a super smooth high gloss finish! Tha canopy looks awesome!!! You have to build it now!!
  2. oooo I like that!!!! A glossy wood finish would look rather lovely, thou a bit of a pain to paint????
  3. They do sound awesome! Though I still haven't finalized the gun layout, originally it was going to be a pair of auto fed Pak37’s in the lower section of the nose, with a Pak43 (88mm) pretty much centre of the nose manually fed with a high-tech (???) recoil system. Now leaning towards a pair of BK 5cm Auto Cannons, with attack radar above them. The tail(s) will have the Quad gun turrets though this config may change so as I can fit a radar in the tail! Speaking of radar it will have fitted a modified (ie improved) version of the FuG 244 Bremen that had a rotating antenna. So I can either fit it in an teardrop pod with 360° rotation, mounted above the centre engine or in the nose and tail (similar to the AWACs Nimrod) with 180° scan. So I’ll either have 5 or 6 turrets depending on the radar! Plus armed with standoff weapons, a low altitude beast!!! sorry there's no room for sanity here.......
  4. well I hope we see you for the build.......fingers crossed it goes ahead as it will be fun and I think quite varied in subject matter.
  5. I haz two of them ......now just hope I have the time to build at least one of them!
  6. You could always build it up with a big cracker inside and pretend you're a small child again. A flaming smokey mess scattered around the backyard........maybe the perfect place for it!
  7. yeap, you're already on the list welcome aboard, that sounds interesting?
  8. Hi Ozz, It really depends on how big the conversion is? If most of the majority of the big plastic bits are thrown away then I can't see too much of a problem. Primarily this GB is for completely resin models (PE & white metal extras ok…or plastic), but if it gets up and running with the vote, we may open a sub-section of the GB up to those heavy resin conversions, ones where you basically throw away the main bits of plastic and replace them with resin. I’ll open this up to others for discussion as to if we can have a sub-section of the GB for big conversions. Ultimately I’d love to see as much resin and variety as possible in this GB.
  9. Thanks for the input guys. I like your thinking with the Flak 41's! I am leaning towards a totally Anti-shipping beast with standoff weapons. With a pair of the Flak 41's I’ll probably now mount a radar done above them, sort of early fire control/surface attack radar! I agree structurally the first option is the most sound, you can just imagine the structural forces on the wing centre section!!! But for typical design bizarreness the centre option has it! I may even leave off the extra jets, not sure yet, as they’ll be in pods they can be left for last….or only fitted when operationally required??? Have a couple of the Revell beasties on the way and A5 and A6, will attempt to cast a copy of the A6’s turret and fit to the A5’s body, that way I’ll have dual turrets at the back. Weapons may include rockets powered “Fritz X” bombs! OOoooo I can’t wait now!!!!!! WhatIf III or Luft46, it's going to get built!!
  10. I lost my first mockup so had too do it again. haven't quite made up my mind on the tail, thou will probably go for the one without the center section. Paint job a special Lo-Vis camouflage for low level anti-shipping operations in the mid Atlantic.
  11. Ha Ha....what about my death ray!!!
  12. That would be tempting.......though the splinter 21 will keep me busy! Off subject, just read the book on the IIAF F-14's, amazing, lots of stuff I didn't know about, am very tempted now for the Tomcat II GB. Well Done!
  13. that depends on how many coffees she's had!!!!
  14. been busy drawing up my beasty for this (or Luft46 GB), should have first pics of a Heinkel He177 Zwelling up later. Have still to decide if it will be trubo prop (like the Bear) or normal the engines (3) with Aux BMW or Jumo jets in pods on the wings (like B-36). The second cockpit will be replaced with a solid nose containing a Pak-43 and a pair of Pak-37's, just the sort of thing for anti-shipping duties, or fit a big attack radar and a couple of nuc's, or even just a monster dish on the top are first AWAC's aircraft, or or or......too many choices! Only just dawning on me how big this beasty is going to be, might have to build a bigger shelf!!
  15. I have a nice 1/48 A-36 Apache on the way, now I don't have to worry about a NMF!
  16. Those Master barrels are great, used their antennae on the Arado, have got them in mind for some future builds! For such an old model it's looking really good. Looking forward to seeing it painted.
  17. looking nice! Lucky you found the missing cylinder head……. Andy 1 - Carpet Monster 0 For a while I thought you may have been getting ready for WhatIf III with the Stuka wheel next to the wee beasts engine!
  18. Great job Andy, she looks lovely!! I'll have to start my one next.......year, or the next or the next.........
  19. Did you have your coffee before you did the list up???? If you check there is another mistake!
  20. Gosh I hope I don't have to make a decession between WhatIf III and this build!!!
  21. arrr a never ending GB, that's what I like, no need to rush!
  22. The Arado is nice, have one of those too, plus "that" cat didn't chew it (it went with 1st misses ). The Ar555 might be popular on the WhatIf III GB, is a great platform for some rarther unusual stuff!
  23. The Gotha is nice as well, I was building a resin one until the cat ate most of the lower engine! I suspect kitty was part of the resistance as it only ever like to chew on my luftwaffe aircraft!!! Bad Kitty!
