  1. thanks, it was my first attempt at this, was inspired by some elses build. anyway after taking more than 24 hours to get home, including a "redeye", so I wasn't that fresh to do much yesterday! Made a little bit of progress plus found out that nothing quite fits at the last stage, this is a issue with the actual model itself! I had to use a wee bit of CA glue to get things to stay in their right spot in a couple of places!! justa couple of more progress shots. the red stuff in the glass in the background is three week old paint brush wash water........drinking it my be an option later to avoid going back to work !! the wing is just resting there........I wish the fit was that easy!!!! the rudders not on as I snapped it off twice! Today is the clear coats, semi-gloss and decals......that try and get the top wing to agree to join the rest of the model!!!! it's going to be real tight and will probably go down to the line to finish this........think I will use UK or US time as the cut off, get an extra 12 hours then!
  2. Mmmm nearly there, looks great. I hope I can finish my build in time!!! Don't forget to take a photo of the two beasties together, they'll look fantastic!
  3. Looking real good Andy. It's great to see that something that old can still be made to look great! The idea with the decals and masks sounds like the way to go, looking forward to see the final beasty!
  4. Gosh Pin you have been busy!!!!!!
  5. Spruce Goose??? probably should be a wood duck though with this one you would duck!!! ok ok i'm leaving...
  6. ok here we go... my favourite He-219 Uhu (Owl) they're soooo cute! Focke-Wulf Fw-44 Stieglitz (Goldfinch) Flettner Fl-282 Kolibri (Hummingbird - I know it's already in the list but this is a different beast!) Flettner Fl-223 Drache (Dragon - so it's a dragon.....but it flies and has wings.....don't think the fire breath counts!) Kokusai Ku-7 "Buzzard" Grumman F4F Martlet - does this count, was a mythical bird like a Swallow? Curtiss A25A Shrike - is this listed already? Curtiss P40 Warhark - ok I'm stretching it a bit here! Sr-71 Blackbird!!!!!! Douglas C9A Nightingale (though this was named after Florence and not the bird!) F-117 Nighthawk - ok stretching it a bit here! EF111E Raven - another fav!!! Cessna T-37 Tweety Bird - ok it's yellow, on TV, and talks........ Bell- Boeing V-22 Ospray Boeing E-7 Wedgetail - our (ozzie) 737 AEW&C think i've exhausted my library....
  7. Hi guy's, it's been sometime since I've updated this. Well unfortunately with my new work schedule/project I now get to spend very little time at home, barely 5 days a month. So with that I'm afraid I'm going to have to abandon this build. Even though I wanted to this build to be "fun" I just don't have the time to do this the justice it deserves. Hopefully I'll get back to it earlish next year and will run it in the WIP section, but it will be completed! Good luck to everyone else with your builds.
  8. Interesting idea, may have a play when I get home, much easier to do graphic work on the workstation. The 177's initally did have a lot of overheating issues with the dual engine setup and all models up to and including the A3 had a nasty habit of catching fire in flight!! From the A5's on they had pretty much solved that issue and they were less inclined to catch fire randomly! A four engine pusher (would have to be six in this case)…..maybe, you would have had smaller props so the rear props hittingt the ground wouldn’t have been an issue. But the shift of weight back (two engines and all the equipment) would have need to be countered either by moving the wings back or lengthening the nose! Can see major surgery there! I had thought of just converting it to turbo props (three sets of counter-rotating props) but again there is a fair bit of surgery required plus I’d have to make custom engines……..something to think about. At the moment my plan is still to use the original engine configuration but with improved engines. DB were in the process of improving the DB605's, one of which was to be the DB628 which was fitted with a two stage supercharger (the project was abandoned) but the dual pair would have been the DB620. So my line of thinking is that the project was completed and “improved" slightly. I really do like the shape of the 177 so I don’t really want to alter it too much. Though if anyone can point me to aftermarket turbo props of a size the suits?? I know about the Unicraft ones. Or I may have to start mocking up something that I can case in resin.
  9. looks great, can't wait to start it....though the instructions are a wee bit vague. I have enough referance material plus the Planet one also for reference ....so how hard could it be.......famous last words!
  10. Have the Planet version with the long nose, plus the Heritage conversion, plus a couple of Dragon 188's, one for a donor for the Heritage (A version) plus an E version that I hope to convert to a 188 R nightfighter if I can source the right bits. There is a temptation to build the Heritage 388 in "operational" colours (have a real thing for nightfighters especially Luftwaffe ones!) but I really don't want to be bogged down too much with the build. The 177Z should be a relatively simple build with lots of extras (maybe) thrown in.
  11. I won't tell you how much I paid for my 388K!!! But have decided one way or another this will be the major project for the year. I'm going to be throwing all sorts of resin extra bits at this build, hopefully it will be epic!! I actually worked out the size of a 1/48 version........bloody huge!!!! Even in 1/72 it's only just going to fit my work bench!!!
  12. they both look pretty good!! I have an idea! How about we all decide the colour schemes for you and you just build them!
  13. I would love to do one from either air force but I see they are in NMF which I find quite scary, but they are soooo tempting!!
  14. Yes I don't think I have fully realized the actual size of this beast yet! One of the Revell donor models has arrived (the A5, the A6 is coming from Germany) so I’ll get a good look at the beast when I get home on the weekend. I do have a feeling that it might take up a bit more room that I expected!!! Don't worry the thought had crossed my mind to go full size 1/48th!!! The main issue is the cost on the donor models, though looking on evilbay I could get a pair of 1/48 MPM's for around $80USD........it is sooooooooo tempting!! No i'll just be relegated to my model room/dungeon until I bought her something nice or took her away on holidays.........wait a minute, I'm taking her to Germany early next year.........
  15. You're not wrong there, Im still stuck away with work, and won't get home till late Friday night........I still have lots to do!! Gee it's coming along well, I do like the engine detailing, well done. You just need to sacrifice other odd bits of plastic to the carpet monster, that should keep it happy and away from this build!
  16. Awesome job, well done. I loved watching the progress and the paint job is superb!! You have really convinced me into build a Wingnut Wings model.....just have to figure out which one.......plus find some time!!
  17. thanks for all the nice comments everyone, it’s very much appreciated. I finish shift on Thursday so well be spending all of my first day off on Friday just getting home, 7 hours of flying and 5 hours in airports!!!! Thank goodness for beer!! So will just have the weekend to finish it, not a lot to do, just the fiddly bit and the rigging! I’ll make a big effort to try and finish it in time but not at the expense of the little baby, it’s such a lovely little thing I don’t want to rush it and stuff it up.....not at this late stage! So stay tuned, she is one of the more unusual builds for this GB!
  18. looks great well done, it does look like a bit of all the swing wings but together with a twist of MiG thrown in for good measure. I like the splinter job!
  19. Don't bother eating of sleeping during the build just build MiG's!!! You know you want too!!! Don't forget you promised a stripy one!
  20. over greys, I hate painting silver...I know it looks good etc......
  21. You could build a Trainer in the Resin GB, kill two bird with one stone.....or lump of resin. The resin GB would have to count as something completely different from the normal GB's? Plus no one dare say bad things about WhatIf III!!!! Or you will be beaten with a limp celery stick until you are complete unsensible!
  22. hmm now whether to build an an Airfix 1/72 or 1/48, guess it will depend on what else i've committed too! Got all the info, just need the beasty.......and possibly decals, will be going for a camo version!
  23. See you just can't resist the ugre once resin fever takes over. you're on the list. Just hope everyone remember to vote for this!!!!!
  24. Ooo i'll have to remember that, my first attempt at wood finish on the Macchi M5.......well least it's hidden on the inside!
  25. Oh dear I see that part of the calender is starting to fill up........and we haven't even got to the main BG's yet!
