  1. He probably means a white PVA glue like kids use in school. That's because it's solvent free and won't damage the clear parts if you get the glue all over your hands then onto to the clear bits! (Been there, done that....still do occasionally)
  2. Cracking build! I love the scratchbuilding in the gear bays. Great stuff!
  3. Must admit I got stung with customs duty once on a 1/48 Dragon Me262 Nightfighter from HLJ. Whatever I saved on the kit price I had to pay on the duty, but as I say it was only one time. However I still think it's worthwhile ordering from overseas and taking a chance on beating the VAT/Customs duty etc. An example is the Achtung Panzer book on the Tiger 1. Over here it's around £35 but I got a copy from HLJ (www.hlj.com) including P&P for around £22-ish. Quite a saving.
  4. Wow! You mean a real Chipmunk? Lol!!! Thanks for the info guys!
  5. Well that's it! I quit modelling after seeing that build!! Fantastic!!! I've got that conversion sitting on the shelf stuck to the the other half of the Airfix fuselage, trouble is the exquisite moulding on the Paragon stuff makes the rest of the Airfix kit look s**t.
  6. Found these web-sites with some useful pics for the Alphajet cockpit; Clicky You'll have to look down the list, also useful for other Luftwaffe machines Also; Clicky Here Too
  7. I've been wanting to build one since the IAT at Fairford in 1991. There was a Luftwaffe Alphajet with tiger stripes on the back end so I got the Fujimi kit but it was SOOOO tiny in 1/72 I binned it eventually. Now I've got a 1/48 kit I might give it a go again. Edit; Bang seats won't be a problem just thinking about it as I believe they are the same type as used in the Hawk.
  8. Very little! Apparently the old Heller kit is 1/50 scale, after that it's the old ESCI kit (Which I got from a nice chap in the states a couple of weeks ago). However I believe that the current-ish boxing of the Heller kit is in fact the ESCI kit (which I found out after I got the kit from the states). As regards after market, that is zilch too. I did post a question on Hyperscale about the same thing a couple of weeks ago so if you do a search over there it'll turn up summat. btw the ESCI kit does'nt look too bad for it's age. A bit like me!
  9. One of those templates with round holes in you see in a stationers is useful.
  10. It's Eric....Flat Eric! He sends his love btw
  11. Personally I add cellulose thinners to enamels as it dries quicker, also I find that I can get better results with enamels for spraying mottled finishes as acrylics dry TOO fast and clog the airbrush, even with retardent. I managed to get a squiggle line camo on a 1/48 Me262 with Hannants enamels, something I could never get with acrylics.
  12. Xtracrylix are ok if you use IPA too. Just make sure you give them a good stir. They will mix with Tamiya as well.
  13. I've just caught up with this one (being a newbie) and what a lovely build that is. Great stuff Neil. Makes me want to go and buy a bleedin' Mossie now...thanks!
  14. Ted Taylor, Legend! Great stuff Ted, always a pleasure to see your work, ever since those Phantoms you did in Scale Models Magazine in the early eighties.
  15. While I'm in the mood for scanning pics from my photo albums, here's one from the 1992 IAT held at Boscombe Down;
  16. Hmmm....not sure whether it was this one or the IAT at Boscombe Down. Hmmm........
  17. Hi, After seeing the news article about Russian Tu-95's on the prowl again, here's a couple of hot-off-the-scanner pics from the 1993 IAT where they appeared at a UK airshow for the first time; Thought it might be of interest!
  18. Finish it??? Good god no......it stayed in sub assemblies for yonks until it was eventually scrapped. (No it was'nt an AEW version lol) I take my hat off to the guy who built that one and brought it to the Nationals last year. What a great build and finish...talented git!
  19. My compliments to you as that looks a hell of a build. Good stuff! Reminds me of when I tried to put the Contrail Vac-form Nimrod together years ago.....it still gives me nightmares! Ugh.......
  20. The Hasegawa 1/32 109's look good...well it looks good in the box with all the parts still on the sprues. I believe they get good write-ups on various web sites. I've got a G-6 in the stash and I've been threatening to start it, however with the Stuka sitting there I can't bring myself to do another 1/32 Hasegawa kit just yet.
  21. Cheers Gary! I should really spend a couple of days over there, that way I could do all of 'em. (Wonder if the Missus fancies a week in Lincolnshire....."Ooo look Sweetheart there's RAF Waddington and RAF Coningsby and a bit further down there is a Lancaster at East Kirkby and and...." )
  22. Hi, It's been a while (10 years I think) since I visited Waddington and I believe the ACMI range is now closed, so is there much happening there these days? When I was there lots of aircraft were in and out all day. It's just that I was thinking of going there soon but as it's a bit of a trek I was wondering if the amount of aircraft likely to be seen would be worth it? Ta!
  23. To be honest, after all the fuss made of the 1/32 Hasegawa Ju87G I can't say I was impressed with the fit of parts on that. And I was suprised at how much filler was needed too.
