âZimmerit Anti-Magnetic Coating - On 7 September 1944, the Generalinspekteur Dee Panzertruppen decided to end the application of Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating, based on rumours that hits on the Zimmerit had caused vehicle fires. On 9 September 1944, MNH received a message from Wa Pruef 6 that the assembly firms were to immediately stop applying Zimmerit. MNH complied with the directive on all Ausf.G completed after 14 September.â Panzer Tracts 5-3 Panther Ausf.G There are some specific hull numbers mentioned in the text (completed without Zim after 9 September but before 14 September) which I can give you if you need them. Hope this helps. -
Hi José, Thats going to be huge! Will be fun watching your progress.
-
Another good one. Looking forward to your progress.

That is looking good, really good. lol

Looking good, Iâll have to look up what that huge lump in front of the antenna base is. đ€

Thatâs Tamiyaâs motto!

You wouldnât know itâs a 1000 year old kit would you. How did you get the tracks to stick?
-
I thought @Enzo Matrix mandated you have to build all of them?!
-
Far from it mate, youâre making top quality stuff.
-
Theyâre a bit of alright. Great modelling, great weathering and great photography. Top stuff.

Yep, thanks, I subscribe to uncle already, but appreciate the heads-up. I like the way he approaches things and does a great job with his commentary too. Iâve practiced more and I think I can do a nice understated version of my previous attempts. Hopefully under some paint and weathering it should look ok (better than a completely flat plate as it is now anyway). If it doesnât look right, then Iâll just have to buy another to have another go

Thatâs really nice, lovely camo work. -
Yes very nicely done. Are you painting those numbers by hand?

Evening all, time for some honest opinions please. The Hull armour on the kit is a little too flat (though I could get away with it as so many great models have been done without adding texture) so I thought I would have a play and see if I could get something to look reasonable. Below is my first attempt using the schĂŒrzen from the kit as I'll replace it with PE. I'm looking specifically at the side armour on the fighting compartment, the tops will need a much lighter touch. What you think, too heavy for German armour or passable? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Nice G1, like the paintwork a lot!

Disc Camoflage - Panther G: Panther 213, Pz.Reg 31, October '44
SimonT replied to Robert Stuart's topic in Panther Mk.V STGB
âGuards for exhaust pipes - Starting in May 1944, the exhaust pipe penetrations in the hull rear were protected by welded armour guards, replacing cast armour guards. Starting in June 1944 sheet metal covers were introduced surrounding the sides of the exhaust pipes to hide the glow...â Panzer Tracts 5-3 Panther Ausf.G I believe C50 represents the earlier cast and C53 the later welded. Either way they were bolted to the rear so @M3talpig is probably right in that you could have both mounted.
