  1. Well that clears up that then! Thanks for the link Magman2, will wait out for that then! (and the Revell is presently prohibitively expensive and has raised detail)
  2. Does anyone know if this kit is any good? Watched 'Flight of the Intruder' and want to build one! Had the old Hasegawa A-6E in 1/72 many years ago...
  3. Good save with the canopy! The cockpit is looking suitably busy with the carbines and grab bags. The paint looks great too, worth the wait I suspect! Are you going to give your Chinook a similar paint job? Really looking forward to these two looking suitably dusty! Well done bud.
  4. Can't believe the difference between the two pits! What an improvement!
  5. Nice work on the 'pit, looks really good. I've got an F-4J(UK) to do sometime, so I'm keen to see yours come together. Looking VERY much like a Phantom now!
  6. Looks pretty good, but have you thought of a post-spray over with a lightened version of the blue? Otherwise you have definitely done a cracking job, like the masks, they(insignia) came out really well I think.
  7. Indeed, Very nice stuff, thanks Steve.
  8. Hi, I've built two of the Hobby Boss Mirage III C kits and I thought they were really good. Went together well, good detail. Initial thoughts are that the detail is pretty darned good, you get a lot for your money, the plastic is pretty hard and the decals are ok. I have since bought the 1/48 Ta-152 C-0, and in the box it looks really good, detail and crispness on apar with Hasegawa/Tamiya/Eduard. That's my 2p!
  9. Hi, I'd like to get some good quality, no-nonsense FW190 decals in 1/48. I'm looking to build some JG 54 Antons, an 'Assi' Hahn, a 'Pips' Priller and maybe some JG 26 D-9/11's. Any suggestions?
  10. Good work on the panels, I'd never thought about using a permi-marker before... Coming along nicely now!
  11. Ha ha ha! Wonder what happened to the Merlin engine?! I think this is a very unique model idea for the Spitfire trophy though. (Sorry for Hijacking your thread boroda rus)
  12. Been following this with increasing interest! That Fusion kit looks amazing, nice bit of history too.
  13. Sweet! Your pilot is looking great Gav, as is the rest of your build. Good work on the 'pit, this is really coming together well!
  14. Welcome! Flipping heck, those are some serious planes! Excellent work on the splinter cam, very tight work, love it!
  15. Wow, looking good! Fantastic job. I think I'm converted to PE after doing my Canberra cockpit and seat, just wish I could do a T-2000 and turn my fingers into tweezers while building!
  16. Biggest tips I can give are; Buy the best brushes you can afford (quality) Use the widest brush you can for the bigger the area Make sure the surface is clear of any oily residue/fingerprints(wash in soapy water) Make sure the paint is properly stirred and thinned Gloss paint 'settles' smoother than matt or satin, so try use it. That's my 2p's worth anyway!
  17. Hi, Just found this build! Saw one of these at a LHS once and passed on the oppurtunity to buy it.... Strange they do a signature series and don't include the pilot?! Your 'Tex' looks good, what/whose pilot figure is he?[Just re-read the post to find he's an old Monogram sweat! Sorry!] Your build is coming along nicely, good work on the wing joins, can't wait to see more.
  18. Very nice, thanks for the find!
  19. Don, I think you've managed to put into words what a lot of us sometimes think about, but never talk about! It all rings true, we all know the guys you've described.... Something you said about how you like to please others with your creativity and desire for feedback is, I think, a little harsh. I like to think you want people to UNDERSTAND and discuss your story, and lack of interest/feedback means, potentially, that people aren't getting it and that maybe means a little bit that you're not telling the story properly. I know I'm a bit of a merge of characters you've described above, I WANT the ultra-realism, try really hard, can be in a rush, BUT I am learning to ENJOY the hobby again ( Ihad a break for about 4 years). I sometimes wish I had a 'what the Hell' attitude and built purely for intrinsic enjoyment, but I too want the 'approval' of others. I stall sometimes when the going gets tough, then get motivated and plow through impatiently, sometimes to the detriment of the build! But it still remains satisfying to look at my creation(however Frankenstein it may end up!) and know I built and painted it. Anyway, 'nuff time spent on analysis... Now lets get building!
  20. Cheers, It is better than masking tape slivers with blobs of silver paint for buckles!
  21. Man oh man, hard work with this PE! Seat finished. Nails to get right. Some of the PE doesn't quite fit (maybe I just read the instructions wrong!)
  22. Don, Your work is inspiration to so many. I would not worry about any detractors who point out the tiniest fault - they're probably jealous of your creativity! Your imagination shows everyone what is possible - not just producing a detailed and 'realisticly weathered' rendition, but a complete story. For those who didn't 'get' your P-38 with the awesome prop and the pilot - too bad! I can see the story you are weaving and it is fantastic! Some of the things you create are what I'd love to do, but am too impatient to achieve! Keep up the great work, it is inspiring. Don't worry about the modelling lows, we all get them. Thanks for sharing your wonderful work. Ruari
