  1. There's a couple on the IWM website and kts one of the Pedestal photos I think that shows Z. Sturtivants Fleet Air Arm at War has a better reproduction of the above photo and it's definitely B. Cheers for the help though chaps I'll do on of these with the unusual leading edge stripes.
  2. Ha yes, will do! Graham- This photo has been taken from the Diego Suarez/Madagascar Ops on 16 Jun 1942 on Indomitable. Is this what you mean with the leading edge yellow? The aircraft on the right looks like it goes up to the root. We have 7F, 7L and 7B visible.
  3. Hi folks thanks for the replies, so regarding the Hurricane '7E', during Op Ironclad it would have looked as it is in the photo but with a longer yellow leading edge? Grey Beema- nice Hurris, I'd like to do Sub. Lt. Gardners at some point myself. I like the placards for each aircraft. Troy- here's what I mean with the milliput, I'tll get a further trim once I get some fresh blades tomorrow. The paint is just where I'm checking the seams.
  4. I'll get a photo of it later, basically I made a strip of milliput, wrapped around a spinner for the shape then slide it on to the nose. As it dried I trimmed it. Seems alright!
  5. Cheers Troy, sadly Airfix haven't supplied an oil ring unlike the Italeri kit but a bit of Miliput and hey presto. I'm mostly interested in the aircraft's use during Op Ironclad if there any differences to when used during Pedestal.
  6. Hi folks, I'm currently aiming to make this hurricane with the new airfix 1/48 kit and using decals from the spares box. Just a few things I wanted to clarify. Using this photo: http://media.iwm.org.uk/iwm/mediaLib/29/media-29571/large.jpg?action=d&cat=photographs AF955 is the second aircraft in the line. What is on the leading edge of the starboard wing? It has a yellow stripe, a gun camera, the normal 4 .303s and what are the other 2 patches further outboard? Compared to the aircraft in front it doesn't have the stripe on the nose but some checks, does it have the oil ring? From some profiles the 7 & E are drawn wider than usual squadron codes, are they? Cheers, Nick
  7. It depends on when the aircraft was made and if it went back for a refurbish at all. Certainly the later F4U-1's i.e those without the window behind the canopy are shown to have zinc chromate in the area of the tail wheel. Dana Bells book will go for dark dull green for the cockpit, black is a possibility though.
  8. Hasegawas kit does have the A-4 from Topgun though it doesn't have 'Jester' beneath the cockpit but another pilots name. One of the other companys did make some after market ones for the same aircraft.
  9. Every roundel in the clip has either had some form of overpainting or reduction in size etc. The aircraft shown at 2:00 is similar to Durno's 7-D. It's had the red overpainted on wing and fuselage roundels with white in a smaller size and you can make out some writing below the cockpit. The 1836 Sqn aircraft at 2:24 is a good example of having the wing roundels overpainted yet shows 3 tones.
  10. 1834 & 1836 Sqn on HMS Victorious, some inscriptions shown and plenty of views of overpainted roundels: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KM1PvJwQmcE
  11. Edsg has also been suggested and the effect is visible on upper wing roundels of other EIF fleet aircraft where there wouldn't be any white initially.
  12. I've seen quite a few and none look like they have an armourers name. I posted a video on here recently in one of the corsair topics which shows some of those inscriptions. I'll find it again. Beware the roundel decals as they most likely weren't overpainted red.
  13. Hi Andy, that is so cool! It would be great to see these again in a new Star Wars film.
  14. I have just noticed this, could I join please? It'll be a Tamiya 1/48 FAA MkIV for me. Cheers Nick
  15. That is a really beautiful swordfish. I love all the detail elements you've done, like the exhaust weathering and some tiny spatters. One small point is that I think the pre-shading is a little too heavy beneath the white but as I've said, that is a really great model!
  16. Just noticed this page Tony, Love your EIF aircraft and the MKIII.
  17. Great Job Tony, I haven't seen the MkIII photo before and both those models look really good. That blue looks a great match too. Have you anymore in the pipeline?
  18. Thankyou for the comments folks! Yes I know what you mean about the size especially when compared to a spitfire, it is a big fighter.
  19. What does OMSK stand for? Typing it into google reveals 'On my stinking Knees'!
  20. Tony, my apologies I have only the port side of the KD750. The photo I have of another 1846 aircraft with both sides is KD696, 111, 'Yangtse Nancy'. I think you're on to something with that gun toting cartoon. Out of interest does anyone know which aircraft Henry Adlam (author of 'On and off the flight deck' and the 'Disastrous fall and triumphant rise of the Fleet Air Arm') flew with 1846 Sqn? Apparently his aircraft was coded '122', there is a lovely shot of this one: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/03/1e/79/031e7993c143cf58ca2f199dd7f405b9.jpg could it be his?
  21. The finished article is over here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234990578-tamiya-corsair-mkii-fleet-air-arm-1833-sqn/ Cheers
  22. Hi folks, have just completed this Fleet Air Arm corsair MkII, as flown by Lt. N Hanson of 1833 Sqn. This aircraft took part in several of the East Indies Fleet raids against the Japanese and is shown in a series of photographs having returned from attacking Port Blair in 1944. Lt. Hanson named his first 3 mounts 'Kathleen' after his wife. So this one is Kathleen III. I made a few changes to the kit, I used MDC conversion kit for British corsairs, added the underside scoop, placed the fuel filler caps in the correct place, added the whip aerials from stretched sprue, put the flaps up and cut out the rudder to reposition it. It was painted all with Xtracrylix and some enamel washes. The base I got off of Ebay, it's supposed to be portion of a British carrier deck. Thanks very much to David and Tony for their help. The Wip cane be found here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234988298-148-tamiya-corsair-mkii-1833-sqn-hms-illustrious/
