  1. Congratulations, youve made a lovely job of it๐Ÿ‘
  2. There's some camouflaged ones in the latest edition of 'Squadrons of the Fleet Air Arm' by Sturtivant et Al. I recently did a FAA version in silver from 1945 based on a photo from 'Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939-1945' again by Sturtivant. The Harvard File by Air Britain might have some more in there.
  3. Absolutely superb job with the glazing. I had to nick some from a spare AM kit. ATBNick
  4. Hiya Mark, if your using the Hobbyboss kit your greater challenge will be sourcing the domed windows in place of the kits flat style ones. Only the early TBF's had the flat style. 848 Sqn were on Formidable during 1944-1945 and as far as I know, none during that period had the gun in the nose. Of course it depends on when you plan to model the a/c. The Sqn was formed in 1943 and trained in the States so they may well have operated the earlier version with the nose gun and flat windows. There is a thread you might find useful that has a collection of Fleet Air Arm Avenger information: As an example JZ114 is an 848 Sqn Avenger in BPF markings and is without nose gun. I'm away from my Sturtivant right now but I'm sure someone will be along with serial numbers and codes shortly.
  5. I was just about to write this as well. Some look yellow but some are engine covers
  6. I hate to say it but I think I have probably been bidding against you on Corsair photos! So here is part of a photo in my collection: I'd definitely go for a yellow cowling.
  7. Hi chaps, totally forgot about the thread. Will have a look for my photos later. That photo Troy, is the aircraft that the Fighter Collections FG-1D is based on as mentioned up above. There is a thought that it is actually primer. I'm sceptical about that and have to ask why would they operate in a maritime environment with a large area in just primer? I have seen another photo which was for sale in eBay with a MkIV being dumped over the side with a cowling ring as well. The photo went for mega money but thats by the by!
  8. There are more photos of 1850/1851 sqns aboard Venerable and Vengeance (off the top of my head) that have the band on the cowling. I do have several original photos that I believe are taken post-war. I've always thought that they were white but I'd need to take another look.
  9. Wonderful, great work! I was only just reading my copy of Barracuda from the Cockpit last week.
  10. It was MRP paints for interest. Looks like you're making great progress ๐Ÿ‘
  11. Good spot! I'll give it the old switcheroo
  12. Much appreciated, thank you๐Ÿ‘
  13. There's some good gen in here which is a collection of items I found out about FAA avengers. The interior information you will find useful: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235021746-some-questions-on-faa-avengers/
  14. Thanks Tony, I appreciate it! I do rather like the Defiant TT in FAA colours and the silver scheme, if only someone made a conversion for the Airfix kit....... atb Nick
  15. Heya Tony, thanks for the comments. A fair shout on all points I reckon. K7 is the Katakrunda code. I ahhmed and ahhed about the upper wing roundels for a time and in the end went with that size as it is similar to what they did with the other SEAC fighters. I love the Oxford photo and had thought about doing that as I have the SH boxing but without any decals. Iโ€™m guessing as they were mostly made of wood, the silver finish was an attempt to reflect the heat from breaking down glue, like they did with the mossies? cheers again! Nick
  16. Thanks, I'm a big fan of SEAC roundels, even more so on a FAA bird!
  17. Hi folks, Down in the Texan/Harvard STGB: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/forum/726-texan-harvard-stgb/ I have just completed this Italeri/Occidental kit. I've used resin exhaust and wheels plus Eduard seatbelts. The aircraft was masked and sprayed with Tamiya Silver and Colourcoats for the roundels. Maketar masks were used for all codes and roundels. I also used a spare Monogram cowling rather than the kits version which has the wrong profile. It represents this aircraft: It's my third Harvard in as many months and I think that is enough for now unless Airfix decide to make a more modern kit! Oh there is that 1/32 Kittyhawk kit I need to build too.... Thanks for looking, Nick
