  1. Good looking Mustang in British livery. Another fine addition to your collection. Thanks for sharing.
  2. I have this kit in the stash and cannot believe your build is of the same model parts I have. Just wonderful work on the reconstruction and inclusion of the Lone Star cockpit set. The work on the wing fold is also exceptional. Thanks for sharing this as I am making notes regarding your build thread to help when I finally get around to tackling my kit. Just a beautiful model.
  3. Superb build of this kit. Just a really good job on making the panels finally fit right closed. I know that must have been a task. Thanks for sharing.
  4. I'm glad you finished this kit as it is so well done. The finish is just great. Just a really beautiful model to look at. Thanks for sharing.
  5. All of sudden we are blessed with a great array of Gladiator builds of the ICM/Revell kit. All of them have been superb builds and finishes, including this one. I really appreciate you detailing how you do the rigging as it is a method I have never used, but looks less challenging to do. Thanks for sharing the build and the tips.
  6. That is one good looking Barracuda. I really like the companion photo with the Avenger that really shows a great disparity in aircraft design between the two aircraft. Just a really enlightening comparison. Thanks for sharing all the builds.
  7. Your Malta fleet just keeps growing. Another fine addition to your squadron. I am always in awe of the finish you get with your brush painting. Thanks for showing what you used and how you apply the paints.
  8. Okay, someone saying they like rigging is like someone saying they love to mask greenhouse canopies. Both are the least desirable tasks in model building for me at least. Combine the rigging with the metal finish and two difficult tasks were done just wonderfully by you on this kit. Another great looking Gladiator, but so different looking that the others that have appeared here recently. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Mr. Johnson appears to have put this Spitfire through a lot of wear and tear missions. A really good job on the hard weathering. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Wow. What an excellent job you did on this Gladiator. The rigging looks daunting, but you pulled it off so well. Just a great looking build and finish. Thanks for sharnig.
  11. A wonderful mish mosh of replaced parts sets this finish apart from the typical 109 camo scheme. A very interesting end result that is done quite well. Thanks for sharing.
  12. A wonderfully built and beautifully finished Lightning. Just another great P-38 build. Can't wait to see the others. Thanks for sharing.
  13. A very tired looking "George". I would have liked to see the finish you did prior to the sandpaper weathering. I think that would be an interesting contrast. I do like the end results. Thanks for sharing.
  14. You and your Dad are such a good team. A great build and finish of this kit and the pictures are done so well to show the beautiful build in the best light. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the other builds to come.
  15. Your finished kit looks really good. The problems you had with it seem to be fixed as it is a really good looking model. Congratulations on finishing it and thanks for sharing the finished build.
  16. Great looking Mitchell. The additions to the interior are really impressive. Just a fine build and finish of this kit. Thanks for sharing.
  17. An impressive first build on this forum. The Yellow WIngs Wildcat is just finished so well. The diorama you made to display this Cat is also just superb. I hope to see more of your builds. Thanks for sharing it.
  18. Sorry I misunderstood. If brush painting mottles, the way I do them is to cover the base paint with a clear coat. Then, small drops of paint, highly diluted are placed by one paint brush and then go over them with another clean brush filled with an appropriate thinner for the paint I am using to really "water" down the mottle and blend the edges into the existing paint scheme. It is also tedious. I still think you did great for your second kit on a very ambitious paint scheme. And, I really look forward to your Arma Hurricane in the night scheme. I'm looking at this kit and version also.
  19. You did a great job on this big version of your favorite Spitfire. The collection of it in different scales is also pretty amazing. (When Border does their 1/35 Spitfire, will this be joining the club? And, where is the 1/32 companion? Just trying to drum up more work for you) Just a wonderful tribute to the particular plane. Thanks for sharing.
  20. A fascinating history lesson included with this build. The build itself is also quite good as is the finish of the kit. Thanks for sharing both the story and the build.
  21. I have acquired a new respect for weathering effects due to the finish on this kit. It is an amazing job done and so very detailed. I obviously need to spend way more time devoted to finishing the paint job on aircraft as it looks like each panel was hand done one at a time. Just really impressive. Thanks for sharing. (I also need to get this kit as it looks to be so well designed.)
  22. For the second attempt it is a fine one. Picking mottling to do on your second attempt with an airbrush is quite bold. Just from the pictures, regarding the mottling, maybe lots less paint in relation to the airflow through the brush would help. If at first spray you cannot tell if paint is coming out, but with a constant spray it begins to appear on what you are spraying within about 5 seconds, you can slowly build up a mottle. It is something that cannot be rushed and takes a bit of patience to do. The paint also has to be pretty heavily diluted also. Take a piece of scrap plastic and just practice until you get the paint dilution, air pressure and paint mixture giving you the results you like. Once you get the settings dialed in for the particular paint you are using, write down the mixture ratio of paint to thinner, the air pressure setting, and the closest approximation to where you were holding down the control to the paint spray. Don't be like me and think the next time you will spray that you will remember what they were. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the Hurricane.
  23. Great looking Corsair. I looked at the link you provided and enjoyed learning a little bit about a conflict I never knew happened. That was an added bonus to looking at this finely built and finished kit. Thanks for sharing both.
  24. The addition of the aftermarket set and your own scratch building really has made this into a beautifully built and detailed kit. The finish and weathering is also very well done. The mottling effect you achieved with brush painting is just superb. Just a very nice finished model to view. Thanks for sharing.
  25. I am always amazed at how much detail you can squeeze out of these miniscule kits. Lovely Spitfire and fine job on the seat and seatbelts. The paint scheme is unusual. Thanks for sharing.
