  1. Great start on your first kit built in so long. Greg has already mentioned the canopy framing. Here kabuki tape is your ally, or a commercial canopy mask is your best friend. Unless you have rock steady hands, free handed painting of canopy frames never works out well. If you are a practicing neuro-surgeon, you may have steady enough hands. Next item you need to add to your modeling tool stash is some decal softners. I prefer the Micro Set/Sol combo, but there are a lot of other choices. Application after you put down decals helps them snuggle into the panel surface. Finally, it looks like you brush painted the finish. Here, putting on a few light coats of thinned paint always works better than one coat of thick paint straight from the bottle. You did good on your first kit, now lets see the progress you make on the next and may your stash grow accordingly. Thanks for sharing this build.
  2. Nice little 109 you made there. Prior to using the oils, did you put down a gloss clear coat on the kit surface? If not, try it next time as it will help the oils flow where you want them to flow and removal of errant streams that don't need to stay. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your next kit.
  3. Interesting paint scheme. I agree, the frames on the front windscreen do need a little more touching up (or removing off) to make the canopy lines a bit more crisp. Otherwise, just a well presented finished model. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Great looking Zero and the paint and finish are just well done. Wonderful modeling. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I do not think I have ever seen the level of detail you have done to this kit before. The scratch building is just superb. The finished model looks great. Thanks for sharing.
  6. If some larger engines were put into it, it looks like it might have been a contender. I agree the lines of it look like a cross between a Mosquito and a Henschel 129. Just a really great build of an aircraft I was not familiar with. Looks great and thanks for sharing the story of the aircraft to go along with the finely built and finished kit.
  7. Having built this kit a few times, some of the fit issues can be frustrating. It looks like they didn't give you any problems. The finish of the kit is so amazingly good. I do not think I have ever seen a black based model finished so well. Just really outstanding. Thanks for sharing. (I have one of the ICM kits (the Vietnam version), but have not built it. Looks a little more complicated to build than the Revell/Monogram version.)
  8. P.E. parts can be such a pain to do. It seems on the worst days, the glue used to attach them will stick to everything but the part. I feel your pain. Regarding the Hellcat, just a really nice build and finish. You may not feel it is your best work, but the finished product is really a nice representation of the F6F. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Oh my gosh, you have done it again; made another fine masterpiece. The weathering you did on this Zero is just phenomenal. And to top it off the figures in the diorama are just amazing to look at. Even though you made a beautiful Zero, it is the figures you finished that I keep looking at because they are so well done and detailed. Your work is amazing. Thanks for sharing.
  10. That is a very different scheme from the typical 109. It really stands out and catches the eye. Great looking finished kit. Thanks for sharing.
  11. You picked a hard paint scheme to pull off and you did well with it. The finished kit looks quite good. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Thank you so much for the background story on this aircraft as this use of the B-17 was new to me. The model you created is just great. Thanks for sharing the story and the build. You did good.
  13. That is one fine build of the 217 and the conversion makes it stand out from most other builds. The camo scheme is so nicely done. Just a joy to look at. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Just a beautiful Staggerwing. Your father made an educated guess as to the color scheme and it looks totally believable. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Okay, between the wonderful builds I've seen of the Arma Hurricane on this site and now your review, I have addictively purchased this kit to add to the stash as I have no control. I will now have to suffer the wrath of SWMBO as another package will arrive that looks suspiciously like a new model kit. Thanks for the review and my stash thanks you for a new feeding.
  16. Great returning effort on your part for the painting and a good build from your son. Keep up the good work and look forward to the Gannet and P-47. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Now that is an interesting take on the 109. Nicely built and finished 109 and a very imaginative choice of markings. Does it go with the He 111 Pennsylvania bomber group? Thanks for sharing and making the day just a littler lighter.
  18. I am glad to see this kit built up and your Dad has set a high level of achievement to match. Just so good looking in the metal finish with the different national markings. The cockpit is just awesome. Thanks for sharing this build.
  19. Fantastic build and finish of the 262. The aftermarket engine is just really well done and sets the model apart from most other builds. It is a very effective presentation. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I have never seen this aircraft built before. Strange looking with the bent wings, but not much more extreme than a Ju 87 wing; just bigger. The fact that it is a vacuform is really impressive as they scare me. Job well done and thanks for sharing this unusual build.
  21. Great looking Thunderbolt. The metal finish is done quite well. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Another finely built and beautifully finished Aussie Spitfire goes into your personal squadron. Just so well done. Thanks for sharing.
