Many thanks for posting those pics, there is a personal connection to 3 of them as my late dad flew the Gannet from Hermes in the '60s when he was with 849B and both Sea Princes in the early '70s when he was with 750 at Lossie.

Nice pics, my late dad flew XL500 many times between 1966 and 1968 (Hermes 849 B flight) and I can't wait to see her in the air again. I'm round at my mum's on Sunday so will see if she's still got dad's old notes on the Gannet - that may answer your questions re the doors.

Brilliant photos, they really do take me back to my childhood. I must admit that the old Gannets do have a very personal connection to me as my late dad used to fly them when he was in 849 B in the mid/late '60s - I know that he did fly XL500.
