  1. Built one 25+ years ago before re-branding. Its not difficult at all (Its a snap kit). A suitable case for weathering that's what I am going to do to mine. I will probably get a second and build it as a clean example. BTW there is a Hudson in the same series I don't know if Revell will reissue that or not
  2. I am not considering buying one of these but has anyone got one and built it? They seem like lego from the advertising? What are they like and would it be a good way to get children into the hobby at a young age? http://www.airfix.com/shop/quick-build/
  3. Shar I cocked up my post what it should have said was British warship.
  4. The last warship built in Pompy was HMS Andromeda in the 70's So what have they been doing since then? The ship maintenance site is a separate entity.
  5. More Pics for you(give me a couple of weeks and I will think of something nice to say about her/it) http://blogs.defensenews.com/intercepts/2013/10/latest-pics-of-zumwalt-ddg-1000/
  6. 2 requests Mr Airfix 1 a nice 1/72 wyvern 2 A coastal forces Dog Boat (now I have to work out why everything has started to appear in bold)
  7. Go away you ar depressing me! Seriously that is exquisite!
  8. Many thanks folks, I think I am now know where i am going colour wise. My sanity has returned!
  9. I have dug my old Heller 1/400 kit out it has not seen the light of day for 30 years I am going to finish in late war scheme with the torpedo bulges painted a different colour(its the long rectangle on the hull). Try as I might I can not find the definitive answer as to what colour it is. Is it dark grey, dark blue grey or what? Some one put my out of my misery please! Regards Paul
  10. Just a quick build from Alex!!!!! http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?125025-Yet-another-Hind-(1-72-Mil-Mi-24D-Zevzda)
  11. Yesterday I went out for a tin of paint and came home with the above kit,it just sort of stuck to my hands. I want to dipict it in 92 squadron colours of silver and blue. Now the question. I do not have an airbrush but use spraycans if possible. Airfix recommend silver for the aircraft(and their spray cans give me a good result Box art shows a more tired aluminium effect so what to do? What I would do is as follows primer, top coat, clear for decals and then satin vanish. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&docid=KPSt-G6WgiJouM&tbnid=Mphch1UoC6oxnM:&ved=0CAUQjBwwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.relishmodels.co.uk%2Fimages%2Fdetailed_images%2FA09178_1.jpg&ei=8M_WUcrNIIGrPMC2gbAI&psig=AFQjCNHGFtb3XkJ3UiX79Ak6BAwVI85i8w&ust=1373118832577102 What does the forum think
  12. I don't know if it has been posted on here but this is an amazing piece of work. I thought I was a modeller but my efforts ar trash compaired to this 1/72 masterpiece! Two threads from another forum http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?105300-A-Whitley-story-in-scale&p=1680672#post1680672 http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?105940-Whitley-project-in-scale-questions-are-looking-for-answers Also Google him for some of his other work like this http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal11/10201-10300/gal10255-Lancaster-Kontiveis/00.shtm I hope I have posted this in the right forum
  13. Sorry If I did not make myself clear of course it was not an Airfix kit. The first one I made was the Spitfire BT K like I would image most on here of a certain age would have given their two bob in woolies for one! I dread to think what it looked like when completed but it hooked me on the hobby for life!
  14. I thought this was BritMODELLER so use your skills and don't expect perfection from an £8 kit. If you can't use your skills to overcome the alleged faults perhaps it time you took up another hobby. From my point of view its a little cracker and well done to Airfix for it.(The last one I built with my Father was chunks of balsa and a plan in the 1950's) Not really a rant but just to show you how far we have come in our hobby.

  16. Thanks for all the help folks. Seems I have a job on here!
  17. Probably asked before but how much nose weight do I need to stop it becoming a tail sitter? Thanks Paul
  18. Very nice Tom. I don't usually bother with gun patch decals as they are a pain in the bottom. What I do is paint a length ofTamiya tape red( after sticking it to an old piece of glass. Cut to size with a new blade them put the blade under a corner and lift off then place on the wing. That way you can have as many goes as it takes!
  19. Very nice indeed. I am well impressed and more than a little envious when I compare it with mine. Well done!
  20. I was 24 and remember it like yesterday watching it on TV. "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” RIP Spaceman.
  21. Now that is a Beautiful rendition of this kit. I have a couple more in my stash and I am going to get one out and try and get near(some hope!)the job you have done. I have made one OOB with no weathering but seeing yours it captures the essence of the hard fight these boats put up in the narrow seas. Excellent job! Can I ask what colours you used for this? BTW the other kit I am going to try to complete as MTB 1027(P1027) if I can get enough info all I have at the moment is a picture in "The Royal Navy in Focus 1940-49"
