  1. Sorry, by plodding I just meant going slowly.
  2. Thankyou. Still plodding on. Painted what seemed to be a myriad of undercarriage parts last evening. Two plastic bags full of missile parts have a, "come on if you think that you're hard enough" look about them.
  3. Hello people. I'm still plodding through the build of the above, the first for many many moons. I'm slightly puzzled about colour. The flat part of the upper fuselage behind the wings over which the wings will cover when swept back............Should this be the same colour as the remainder of the upper fuselage? Thankyou in advance Phil - no longer of Redhill.
  4. Cockpit and sharp end done. Yet to attach remainder of front u/c and doors as per instructions. Have managed to lose the front access step cover..... Wings, tails and elevators sub-assembled. Wing swinging mechanism done. Main u/c bays installed. Engine air intakes sub assembled. All necessary painting of sub assemblies done - another coat of white in the main u/c bays going on later to-day. It's astonishing - almost weird - how everything fits to-gether so perfectly. Still worried about painting the brute when it's as one. I think that I'm going to have to buy an airbrush and learn how to use it.
  5. Hello everybody. Sorry, long post, bear with. For Christmas Grumpy Grandad has been given a model aircraft to make to give him something to do on the long cold nights. The last time that he made one was about thirty five years ago for his then 13 year old sons. It is an F-14 in 1:48 scale by Tamiya. A start has been made on all the small stuff and it's been an amazing learning curve on how everything just fits so perfectly together unlike the Buccaneer that I tried which sort of fitted where it touched. Now, what I do recall was that before applying all the transfers the trick was to paint the model with gloss varnish to hide the transfer's backing then when it was all dry to paint it with matt varnish. My question is.... Does any company make little tins/bottles of gloss model paint to save the kerfuffle of a double painting job? Thankyou in advance. Phil AKA Grumpy Grandad.
  6. Nitpicking but it's a fact that the oft quoted "exception that proves the rule" is slightly wrong. The correct saying is, "the exception that disproves the rule". Phil, still obsessed about stuff in his seventies. Likes Vulcans but thinks that Victors were the better bomber.
  7. I was always under the impression that the T4 was a two seat F1a.
  8. Very nicely splendid. A question if I may. What are the red/yellow/green lights under the rear half of the under-fuselage for?
  9. Thankyou. edit. I've just had a wee look at their website. They're based in Bodmin.....just the other end of Cornwallicus from me!
  10. Ah yes, thankyou. Alas, I should have mentioned 1:48 scale.
  11. What have decal makers got against my beloved 43 squadron? It seems just about every user is possible except 43. Unless I've missed something in which case my apologies.
  12. Toy and model shop in Truro has a few on the shelf.
