  1. Thanks, Dr Evil. All makes sense now! Have to try to source some now.
  2. Know that this thread has been around a while now, but only just found it! Building a UH 'vark in the near future- I have one question- what the heck ARE those stores on the inner pylons? see them all the time and can't fathom it. Are they ECM? They seem pretty much ubiquitous on 80's 'varks so thought I should include them. Any help gratefully received!
  3. Looks like my prayers have been answered only started a thread on this the other day- had a sense of dread about tackling the Airfix kit! Hope this lives up to expectations. Agree with above- grey and green all the way!
  4. Thanks for the info guys- all very useful stuff. Sounds like the airfix jag is as I imagined. Shame about the sidewinder rails, that'll take a bit of fixing. Tempting to wait for a new tool, but that could be years. Might do a Harrier GR3 in the meantime, but I'm guessing that's another can of worms!.... Regards.
  5. Hi there. Apologies if this has been covered before. Looking to do an RAF Jaguar in the near future in 1/48th, as part of my 80s UK collection. The only kit that I seem to be able to find is the Airfix example. Know from experience that many of the older Airfix kits can be a bit of a horror show! What's this one like?, will a hamfisted modeller like me be able to make a decent go of it? Any particular issues? Are there any alternative kits that I've missed in my search? Many thanks for any advice!
  6. The chaps I ordered from in the States have just emailed me to tell me they don't have the sheet after all. Would it be possible to take you up on your kind offer? Sorry about the faffing.
  7. Rats! Never mind, if it doesn't work out, I'll be in touch. You're a gent. Thank you very much for your help.
  8. That's the sheet! Have ordered one, hopefully should be on it's way soon. Thanks for your help
  9. Hello everyone, have been working on a Hobby Boss Tornado F3 for the past few weeks. After all the effort, had a bit of a disaster- have always been a big fan of the old 5sqn markings with the prominent red tail bands and was fortunate enough to track these markings down on an ancient Xtradecal sheet from the US on flea-bay.They were generally superb, but the starboard fin band broke up beyond repair. I have tried to find a replacement with much googling without success. REALLY want to complete it in these markings, and it's beyond my painting skills! Does anyone have any idea where I could source decals, or even decal?! Any help gratefully received, no problem is beyond the power of Britmodeller! Cheers.
  10. Cheers Graham- Live in Nottingham, so it's quite a trip. Stayed for a week's holiday in Butley 3 years ago and explored the perimeters of Bentwaters and Woodbridge. Love that area of Suffolk, it's got a magic to it. Had a thing about the A-10s and USAFE in general since I was a kid thanks to my dad who took me many times to Mildenhall, Alconbury, Upper Heyford etc. and to Donna Nook and Wainfleet watching the 'hogs let rip- ddrrrr ddddrrrrr! Would love to come down on one of the open days, been meaning to do it for the past couple of years, but just trying to find the opportunity. Must be lovely living out that way. Keep up the good work with the museum and the writing. All the best Richard
  11. Thanks Graham- actually have just purchased your book on Bentwaters/Woddbridge- very good. it actually contains a picture of the very 'Hog I'm making! 81-978 of the 78th TFS. Revisiting memories of all the planes I took for granted when I was a kid.
  12. Absolutely fantastic- particularly the firebird! Just great.
  13. Hello everyone. Bit of a specific one, but with the knowledge on here there's a chance! Does anyone know when the WR (Woodbridge/Bentwaters) Hogs were equipped with the twin launcher adaption for the sidewinder? Would like to fit the twin launcher and some Eduard 'winders to my current project, but not sure if would be accurate to the date- 1988. Thanks in advance!
  14. An Alconbury Aggressor's definitely on the list, using an AFV! Excellent work- what a brilliant cock up!
  15. Can't believe you didn't use the title 'Discount Viscount'
