    MVAF

Can anyone help me to a copy or scan of the articles about the MVAF published in the Fly Past of October and November 1999? Help is appreciated. Peter Boer
  2. Thank you Ross M. Perhaps the transfer to 118 Squadron was cancelled when it turned out that it did not have any Buffaloes or was not to receive any after all. Peter
  3. Thank you J-W; was a long shot. 1Lt Lutz noted that he was going to fly Buffalo but he did not log any hours on the type. Regards, Peter
  4. On 24 October 1941 five Dutch pilots, including flying instructors Lts F.J.A. Lutz and G.H. Aalpoel, were transferred from the AFU at Grantham to 118 Squadron for a conversion to the Brewster Buffalo. This in connection with a plan to base a Dutch Buffalo squadron (with aircraft to be supplied by the Netherlands East Indies Army Aviation Corps) in Surinam. The training was cancelled, however, in November 1941. Does anyone know if 118 Squadron indeed had a few Buffaloes like 71 Squadron? Peter Boer
  5. Hawk 1, as far as I know you can still buy straight from the publisher, see page 1, post of 18 Jan. The book is still listed on the Bataafsche Leeuw website. Peter Boer
  6. As is still done on the European continent, you can always pay by sending cash (I know the publisher does advise this some times) and have the letter registered. Yes, I agree, it is a pity the UK is not part of the Euro zone where these problems do not exist or to a much lesser extent. Tony, others, as it is possible to order with Bataafsche Leeuw without noting your email address in the order form, it is possible the publisher does not have your email address. If you want to complain about the high postage cost I advise sending a seperate email with your complaint. Baldeagle, others, I think it will still take some time before the book can be ordered through Amazone. Your by now somewhat frustrated author, Peter
  7. JohnMacG A good idea to try again in ten days or so. I'll also contact the publisher again, but I recently learned that he has been in the hospital being operated on kidney stones. Nevertheless, mr Wybrants Marcussen, the publisher, is an old fashioned publisher who promised me to personally look for a solution and contact the people in the UK who have ordered the book. Peter
  8. I trust those of you who emailed the publisher have received an answer he can live with? Regards, Peter
  9. Things getting worse; have forwarded all your comments to the publisher (who, unfortunately, is selling the vast majority of his books within the euro zone, so little experience with sales elsewhere). Regards, Peter
  10. This price is without the €2.60 tax a Dutch firm like megastore has to collect for the government. Peter
  11. Guys, I really feel bad about this and can only hope the quality of the book makes good something of this financial misery. Have taken the liberty to forward your comments to my publisher (all names deleted) and asked for his comment. Peter
  12. Good news, my reprinted book is finally there and the first books were sent off by the publisher this very day. Regards, Peter Boer
  13. No need to reorder Tony, the books will be sent out when available (the reprint also keeps the same ISBN number). Regards, Peter
  14. Guys, On behalf of the publisher, apologies. Your orders have been properly received I was told, but... The first lot of printed books has been returned to the printer by the publisher, as the photographs and some other illustrations were printed in too low a quality. Just last Friday it has been decided that the book will be reprinted after the photographs and illustrations have been reworked. This, unfortunately, will take some time. I have received one of the misprints myself and although the book looks very good on the outside and the text is fine, many of the photographs and some sketch maps do indeed look awful. I'll put in a new message when the reprints are there. Regards, Peter
  15. The bill will come together with the book Tony. According to the publisher the principle is paying bank to bank using the IBAN international banknumber and included in the bill will be half of the postage costs. Cheers, Peter
