  1. Post-WW2 jets? Sign me up straight away.....more Spitfires (or WW2 subjects in general), not so much!
  2. ICM certainly seems to have made a more than decent effort to cover all of the necessary changes - going on the instructions anyway. I'll definitely have to get at least one, though I'm wondering (given that ICM seems to have left pretty much all of the parts from the original A-26B/C kits in the box) if it might be worth getting a second one as it might be a very good starting point for a 'fire bomber'? I think a lot of those had a 'two pilot cockpit' like the B-26K.....
  3. It looks very well, even if it did fight you all the way.....
  4. While at the outset WNW kits could only be ordered direct from the manufacturer in New Zealand, after a while they became available from quite a few retailers.....
  5. I picked up a couple from here about a month ago, still in stock as of now @ €39.75: https://www.migjimenez.com/en/model-kits/4799-148-f-104s-starfighter-italian-air-force-9588838161502.html
  6. The JA fuselage was slightly longer than the other versions, though in 1/32 maybe not so noticeable (I think the extra length was something like 10cm, if memory serves). In any event, when they entered service the JAs were painted in the splinter scheme, the grey came later.....
  7. Well, to (mis)quote the old saying, four out of five ain't bad! It certainly looks like an SR-71, it's definitely 1/48 scale and a 2021 tooling, I can use filler.....but I think the jury's probably still out on the 'modern details' bit, as no-one's posted any pics. of them yet!
  8. Even Tamiya had to start somewhere.....I guess that sometimes you've just got to have a bit of faith and take a leap in the dark! I'll admit to having missed out on the first run by dithering for too long, for reasons not too far removed from those you've stated; however, I've just now paid for my copy from the second run. My logic is essentially that I've always loved the Viggen and have wanted a large-scale one for as long as I can remember. On top of that I've spent zero of the annual airshow travel budget for the last two years and it seems unlikely that I'll be able to do so again for another year or two at least the way the Covid nonsense is going, so I might as well use the money for something.....
  9. You're right, with the canopy closed I doubt much of anything would be seen except maybe the seat headrests! However, I've always been a dedicated 'canopy open' modeller; besides, I've already got the Hypersonic kit for the AG-330 start cart and I'm living in hope that someone (LP Models, maybe?) might do a boarding platform too.....well, I can dream, can't I??!! I'm pretty sure that full views of the SR-71's cockpit interiors are in the public domain at this stage, at least there are several shots in a few of the (many!) books on the Blackbird that I've collected over the years. I'm sure you're also right when you suggest that the aftermarket guys will provide anything missing from the kit, but for the reported €89 asking price I think that Revell could reasonably be expected to provide something at least half decent?
  10. I agree that it looks OK shape/outline-wise and like you I've no particular issue having to use a bit of filler here and there. However, for me it'll also have to have a decent level of detail in the cockpit and wheel wells before I'll part with the kind of money that's being talked about; I'll also be completely uninterested if it turns out to be as 'challenging' as the 1/32 F/A-18E! I'll be awaiting the detailed reviews with great interest.....
  11. Fly Models has kitted several versions of the Hurricane in 1/32.....
  12. In a word, no. 'Showtime 100' was an F-4J, Tamiya's kit is an F-4B, which has a different wing, different exhausts and many smaller detail differences too.
  13. I honestly couldn't say, as I'm not any kind of an expert when it comes to the Lancaster (I only bought the kit because I want to do one of the RCAF post-war SAR aircraft as I like the colour scheme). All I can really say is that the canopy looks fine to me when compared to photographs in any of the reference material I've got - however, that reference material isn't extensive as I'm not much interested in RAF WWII heavy bombers and it doesn't include 1/48 plans. Don't know if that helps any or not!
  14. I had a look at mine just now and on that basis would say don't bother looking for another! I'm pretty sure that on my example at least it's not a crack, to me it looks more like some sort of 'flow mark' in the plastic. To be honest, if you hadn't mentioned it I don't think that I'd ever even have noticed it - it can only be seen at certain angles (again, on my example anyway) and even then only if you're really looking for it.
  15. From the Rumourmonger 'header': Post your thoughts, requests for confirmation, or wisp of speculation here...
  16. Interesting details that I would never have been aware of, like pretty much all aircraft modellers I know I've no interest in uniforms at all and know very little about them; in my experience that subject tends to be more an 'armour modeller thing'. I could probably tell a WWII era RAF pilot from a Luftwaffe one, but not much else. However, to be honest, I'd probably just use the ICM figures 'as provided'.....they'd look OK to me!
  17. Looks quite hopeful to me that a 1/32 UH-1 might indeed be on the way. Why would ICM mould a figure in a perfect pose to sit in a UH-1doorway when there's no kit of it in that scale? (Though I'm open to correction on that as I'm not really a helicopter expert; however, I think any larger-scale UH-1 kits out there at the moment are in 1/35?)
  18. I'd read it a bit differently - to me, the phrase 'variable sweep wing supported by a single-piece part' would imply that there's some sort of one-piece spar that supports both wings, not that the two wings are moulded as a single part?
