I'm not seeing anything either.....

Extra insanity is just what the world needs in the dark, cold and miserable month that is January in the northern hemisphere.....long may you continue to provide it. P.S. The higher the 'wibble factor' the better.....occasional actual modelling is OK too, but not too much. Let's keep some sense of proportion about this!

Same for me! -
“Dassault on Precinct 13” Italeri Mirage 1/32

I'll definitely be borrowing that 'veggie roast tin, ruler and biro' exhaust technique - the results look excellent; very nice Mirage III build that has me thinking about pulling my IIIE kit out of the stash. P.S. Tofu belongs to no known food group..... -
I think it's quite possible that the market for 1/72 kits isn't anything like as big as it used to be and that manufacturers like Airfix and Eduard are just reacting to this. I don't know how typical my modelling friends and I would be, but of a core group of eight of us only three have kept up an interest in 1/72. The other five (myself included) now only buy kits in 1/48 and 1/32. All of us would have had a big interest in 1/72 in our (sadly now distant!) youth. Modelling seems to be an 'older' pastime these days and maybe this is associated with a preference for kits with bigger parts.....that we can actually see!

The shape of the nose on the original Kinetic F-16 series of kits was never really fixed properly. Later issues of the kit were improved a little, but the nose still looked wrong. The shape issue never looked as bad on the two-seater kits but again the nose still wasn't really right. As has already been said, there's little point in looking for/trying to correct the old Kinetic F-16s now. The first two kits (both single seaters) in what will almost certainly be an extensive series covering all of the main versions have now been issued; the first of the two seaters has already been announced.

I should of course have said 'a 21st century standard injection moulded kit...' I actually have the HPH MiG-15 lurking in the stash, but I fear that it's probably beyond my abilities to assemble and finish to a standard that would do it justice. An easy build it ain't.....especially for a mere kit assembler like me!
-
Again, I'd be in complete agreement.....I keep hoping that it's only a matter of time before someone does a 21st century standard kit of something like the MiG-15 or F-86E/F in 1/32. Even in 1/48 there are many cold war era jets that still need to be kitted to current standards. As for the Luftwaffe 1946 nonsense, don't get me started - or the fantasy A-12s and the like.....talk about a complete waste of resources!
-
It's definitely a funny old world.....I wanted an F.8 that much that I bought the HKM kit and a Fisher conversion to do one! I know this will be heresy to many, but at this stage of my life I'm afraid I'm done with WW2 subjects. I built my fair share of them in my youth but at this point they've all been done to death and now bore the pants off me.....if I never see another Spitfire or 109 kit it won't be too soon.
-
I like those seats a lot, you've made them look very good for 'out of the box' items. I might also need to get some of those 'anyz' bits and pieces, which I've not heard of before - my bank manager/credit card will not be impressed! (Nothing new there, so.....)

No love either for the Kinetic 1/48 F-16 MLU apparently; Eduard, like everyone else (for some reason that completely eludes me) seems to have decided that the F-16C is the 'main event'! I could never understand how it's taken so long for a modern kit of the MLU to be done by someone (I know that some issues with the Kinetic kit have been pointed out, but for me it's a perfectly acceptable starting point, beats having to buy a ton of aftermarket for the Tamiya or Hasegawa kits). Maybe in March Eduard will get around to it.....
-
How much of a jigsaw puzzle would they need to make of the kit in order to allow an F.8 as well?
-
We can but hope, but as someone has already pointed out there are big differences between an F.3 and an F.8!
-
Must be something to do with being 64! I'm headed for that on my next birthday and couldn't agree more with your comment.....I lost interest in the whole 'endless WW2 reruns' thing a very long time ago now.
-
Thanks, but no thanks! An F.8 in 1/32 I'd buy in a heartbeat, but I've zero interest in the earlier versions (especially at the price being quoted).
-
Unfortunately I suspect that (a) the price isn't out by 100 euro, (b) there are no fancy 'extras' included and (c) the price of 159 euro being quoted is simply reflective of the utterly crazy cost of just about everything these days. I doubt that things are going to improve in that regard in 2023.....
-
Hope it's true and if it is that it proves to be a new-tool 1/32 F.8. The F.8 would have a much wider choice of far more interesting colour schemes than the F.4, which in any case has already been done in 1/32 by HKM.

1/48 - North American B-25J Mitchell by HK Models - released

I have one on the way from Modellbau Koenig in Germany, still showing as 'in stock' a few minutes ago..... -
The best 'one stop shop' reference on the differences between Mirage 2000 variants that I've ever come across is a two-sided A4 sheet that comes with the Syhart decal sheets for the type. In my view it's worth getting one of the sheets for that alone even if you were never to use the decals.
-
Couldn't agree more.....and the same goes for a decent CH-53/MH-53 in 1/48, there's still only the ancient and very basic Revell offering. I'll buy one or other Mi-8 kit for sure, but definitely not all of them.
-
Or maybe find yourself in early January phoning any friends or family members to whom you gave a present of a tin of sweets.....and asking if they found anything unexpected in the said tins?
-
All items listed on the Hannants website have two prices, depending on what you've selected/where you're located. The lower one (£53.25) is an export price less UK VAT, the higher price (£71) is the UK retail price. Based on what's on the website now it seems that anyone who bought one at Telford for £50 got a bargain!

The seat looks very basic by the standards of other current 3D printed accessories? -
That's the one I'll be buying so, I hate rivet detail of all kinds on models, particularly of the raised variety. Yes, I know that in some cases it's technically correct, but to me it just never looks right and always looks overdone. First thing I do with any kit is sand off the raised rivets.....
