  1. Unfortunately not. It was stated in a recent issue of 'Eduard Info' that the Rufe floatplane had many small differences from the Zero and that it would be essentially a new kit. As far as I can remember the only common sprue is going to be the one with the cockpit and other 'detail parts'.
  2. Just vote with your wallet and wait for them to release the individual kits, which usually happens within a couple of months at most.....
  3. Now that's something I'd definitely go for! (Though I suspect it's unlikely to happen.....)
  4. A 1/48 F-5 'family' to the sort of standard currently being set by GWH would be really something. I know Kinetic has done them, but unfortunately they're 'early Kinetic'.
  5. Have to admit that's true, maybe the problem is that there aren't very many modern jets. I guess that before too much longer there'll be nothing but F-35s. Having said that, the current Typhoon kits in 1/48 aren't exactly great and could do with a makeover..... Now if only someone would start doing decent 1/48 kits of 'Cold War' jets to the standard that GWH has set.....
  6. A long, long time ago.....Hasegawa barely rates the status of 'also ran' these days, sad to see. Still, with companies like Eduard, ICM, Pilot Replicas, Zoukei Mura and Kinetic around things aren't too bad I guess. However, the one thing Hasegawa did do well was current 1/48 jets, which unfortunately no-one really does much of any more.
  7. A new-tool Albatros D.V or Pfalz D.III in 1/48 to the same standard as the new Camel kits would be more than welcome...
  8. That's beautiful, the 'satin' finish looks just right to me for a 1/48 model. It's also great to see something that hasn't been 'weathered' to the extent that it looks like it escaped from the base fire dump!
  9. Beautiful model, especially from a kit as old and as basic as the Fujimi E-2C.....
  10. Very neat build as usual, but for me that heavily-weathered stye just doesn't work on the F-35. Just a personal preference, I guess.....
  11. Hard to argue with that.....
  12. Personally (and I suspect I'm not alone?) I always thought the 'slipper tank' just completely ruined the lines of one of the all-time great fighter designs.....
  13. That's debatable at best. The Monogram 1/48 A-10 was one of the very few kits that I binned before completion (in more than 40 years of building plastic kits). It was typical Monogram, some nice detail and OK shape-wise but it 'fitted where it touched' (and that's being kind). Moulding the split ailerons/speed brakes in the open position was also a particularly poor design choice and almost impossible to do much about altering. Personally I'd rate the Italeri and Hobby Boss kits more highly (even though neither of them could be described as perfect, for me they're way ahead of the Monogram effort). Actually, I'm always surprised by the praise often heaped on Monogram kits in modelling forums and can only put it down to nostalgia; they were good in their day, but that day was a long time ago (well, in my view at least, I know others may feel differently).
  14. Hopefully it won't be covered in exaggerated rivet (divot?) detail like the 1/48 Bf 109E kits.....
  15. You're reading my comment very much out of context. The entire statement was "It was also suggested that a suitable conversion might enable a RN AEW.1 to be built. However, I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that - there's already an Italeri kit of that version and in any event I'd have thought an A-1H/J kit would be a better starting point than an A-1E?" I'm not at all suggesting that Pilot Replicas should do an A-1H/J, as you point out, the Tamiya kit is still more than adequate. I just didn't see why anyone would want to use an A-1E kit as the basis for an AEW.1 conversion.....
  16. Lovely job. It's great to see something that actually looks like the original would have, rather than the daft, black-based, mottled finish that's so much the fashion these days!
  17. It would be great if they were considering a two-seat Hunter in 1/48, but I thought it had been reported (both here and elsewhere) that Airfix had stated definitively that they weren't going to do this? (Of course, they may be doing it in 1/72?)
  18. Ouch! I'm in the opposite position - I bought a Caracal sheet for USN A-1Es ages ago in the hope that someone would do a decent new kit of it. The sheet's now out of print but I think I saw somewhere very recently that it's going to be reprinted later this year following the news about the new Pilot Replicas kit.
  19. No, you're looking at it all wrong. You're not to blame for anything, you can instead take credit for Pilot Replicas doing a new kit for everyone else!
  20. Good to know.....it would be great if Pilot Replicas did some more of the previously unkitted Skyraider versions in 1/48 (or those for which only old and/or difficult to find kits currently exist).
  21. Not a fan of either the rubber tyres or the heavy rivet detail.....the Airfix ones in the stash will do me!
  22. I think it's based on nothing more substantial than the fact that Sweden operated a few AD-4Ws and that decals are available. It was also suggested that a suitable conversion might enable a RN AEW.1 to be built. However, I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that - there's already an Italeri kit of that version and in any event I'd have thought an A-1H/J kit would be a better starting point than an A-1E?
  23. That's great news, just what the modelling world has been waiting for!
  24. In a word, no! My vegetarian sister swears by it but I remain unconvinced..... However, as the Americans occasionally say, 'your mileage may vary'.
