I don't think the nose for the Swiss version is included? ((Perhaps for the 'RS', but not the 'S'?)

Excellent - this is the one I've really been waiting for!
-
And no doubt red lines will start appearing on photographs all over the place in no time at all.....

Might have something to do with the fact that the Tamiya one is almost 20 years old? Anyway, who cares? Personally I don't think it's overpriced by 2016 standards and anything's better than trying to beat the Classic Airframes horror into submission. However, I realise that other peoples' mileage may vary.....

Looks like a case of 'much ado about nothing' alright.....

Thanks, Zhizhou, I'll look online for a copy, sounds like a good book to have.....
-
I'd be really grateful if anyone could point me towards a reference (book or online, don't mind which) that clearly explains/shows the 'Swiss nose cone'. I've seen numerous vague references to it (usually about it being some combination of 'bigger/longer/different') but never anything specific.

Soaking the parts overnight in a water/caustic soda solution always worked well on enamels for me. Just protect your eyes and wear rubber gloves.....

As someone who for years has been getting more and more fed up with the seemingly endless diet of Spitfires, Mustangs, Bf 109s and Fw 190s churned out by most manufacturers, I agree completely with your sentiments about 'brave companies giving the market fresh air'. I've bought most of Kittyhawk's kits as the subjects interest me; I'll be the first to admit that they have some inaccuracies and fit issues (they're no Tamiya) but I'm prepared to support them in the hope that they will improve and continue to issue kits of subjects not tackled before, or at least not for many years. They seem to be going in the right direction, their recent Kingfisher looks to be pretty good, and I'm really looking forward to the T-28. Meanwhile, what's Revell giving us? Yep, another Me 262..... Zoukei Mura? Yep, more 'Luftwaffe 46' and another 1/48 F-4J.....I rest my case, your honour!

1/48 (?) - Pilatus PC-21 by Hobby Boss - rumour...
hopkp replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
I understand where you're coming from in terms of the colour schemes/users arguments, but the PC-21 is just so COOL! Personally I've little interest in turbo-prop trainers, but I would definitely buy a good 1/48 PC-21, particularly having seen one displayed at Axalp a few years ago. The PC-7 I can take or leave, but I always thought the PC-9 was one of the ugliest planes ever built.....donning tin hat and getting into trench now!- 18 replies

Guess our definitions of 'incredible news' are different.....I assumed the 'incredible news' was an announcement about a new kit!
-
Looks like they've kept the same idiotic kinked joint on the underside of the wing at the rear? I had hoped that this might have been changed.....
-
Looks like it might be nice.....also seems to have full-length intakes, unlike the Hasegawa and Hobby Boss kits?
-
Couldn't agree more, great big yawn as far as I'm concerned. Thank God for AMK, Kinetic and Kittyhawk, though the quality can vary at least they're doing kits of subjects that either haven't been done before, or not for a very long time!

The Ka 25 would get my vote too.....always thought it was an interesting-looking helicopter, with the bonus of some attractive colour schemes.

1/48 - Lockheed U-2A/C Dragon Lady by Hypersonic Models - in project
hopkp replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
1/48 is the perfect scale for this.....the Italeri kit is hopeless (and anyway it's a TR-1). I won't actually mind if you do it in 1/72 also, but do the 1/48 one first! -
Sign me up for one too.....I've wanted a good 1/48 SR-71 for years, will allow me to re-live many happy memories of Mildenhall 'Air Fetes' in the 1980s-1990s! Only option thus far has been the truly horrible Testors/Italeri effort. Could never understand why no mainstream manufacturer hasn't tackled this one so far.....

1/48 - Fiat G-91 Gina by AvantGarde Model Kits (AMK) - in project ?
hopkp replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
At last.....I'll buy three to start! Great to see at least one manufacturer not stuck in the seemingly never-ending cycle of yet more re-treads of WWII staples like the Spitfire, Bf 109, etc., etc., etc......- 49 replies
