Very nice, the light on the first is fantastic! I'm just downloading mine now. I got there early and bagged a spot at what I thought was the rotation point. As she lifted off, I pressed the button to focus and... nothing! Somehow I managed to stay composed, switched off and on again and grabbed a couple as she climbed past me with the gear still down. Probably the most frustrating moment of my airshow career (I'd been obsessively checking the settings for ten minutes to get that one right ). Made up for it on the rest of the passes and landing though, but that's a piece of history gone for ever. Fortunately we've got pics like yours to record the event - top job! Steve.

Really a rather special collection, not to mention your composite work is pretty seamless too! Superb. Steve.
-
I'll be getting a couple to use with your sheets Colin - already got the sheets though, I'm afraid. Steve.
-
Just noticed that myself, that'll disappoint all the X-Files fans! Steve.

Heres the link chaps. Steve. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php...%5B%5D=code+asc

Sorry mate, only just seen this. At work at the mo' so can't access Hannants. I think I was searching for extra thin adhesive at the time, so I think it's hidden in 'glues and adhesives' , 'Tamiya' (!?!?), but I'll have a proper look this evening. There's a pic of the pack of three (oo-err) cloths and two or three types of polish to come. Steve.

Class job from beginning to end Den - absolutely superb Steve.

Hmmm, Dremel- type motor tools and Iwata spares; you have my attention. Thanks for the info guys, I think I'll be taking a look before too long. Cheers, Steve.
-
Noticed last night that Hannants list this in 'Future releases' alomg with some applicator cloths. Steve.

Any clues as to where this is guys? If it's South of Cambridge I may make a visit. Any Hasegawa/Trumpeter/Eduard etc, or just the standard Airfix/Revell kits? Ta. Steve.

What paint mixing/thinning equipment and where to get it?
Bennygman replied to Simon Platt's topic in Paint
Opinions will vary on this, but here's what I've been doing. Like you, I've got tired of blocked syringes and can't afford the thinners to keep flushing them. I now transfer paint and thinners to the cup (gravity feed) using a brush and mix them in the cup using the same brush. This is especially easy with Xtracolour thinners as they come with a nice dropper type lid. Cuts down on waste and mess no end so long as you keep a rag nearby to wipe the brush off between media. Having adopted this method, I was quite gratified to see Phil Flory using the same method on the Promodeller site - if it's good enough for him... If you want to go the dropper route though, I believe mine came from 'Little cars.com' but I'd think Cammet would also do them. Another tool I've found useful is the Humbrol paint stirrer. It's basically a battery-operated whisk type thing; great for mixing in the gunk on the bottom of Humbrol tinlets. Someone will probably say it's a waste of money; but it doesn't half do the job. Edit: as Greg Says above, thinners first is the way to go as it 'primes' the system and seems to cause less blockages for me. Steve. -
Superb - the first shot is just brilliant! Steve.

Thanks for clearing that up guys Steve.

Some nice pics there, looks like the weather was fairly kind - better than last year at least. I would have liked to have seen the F3/Hunter formation; was that an RAF 90th thing? If so I wonder if it'll be repeated elsewhere. Glad you had a good time guys, would have loved to have been there. Steve.

Very nice work Tim , Just been reading through this over breakfast - great start to the weekend. That Aries stuff is a right laugh to work with isn't it? Steve.
-
I'm definitely there Saturday, and work permitting Friday too (arrivals was excellent last year). Work better not get in the way, I've already booked the hotel. Breaking news from UKAR is that the B-52 is flying Sat' only now (straight from the organisers' mouth). Steve.

Thanks all, glad you enjoyed them. The beauty of the Apache display is that the closing pirouette down the crowd line is not only a first class bit of showing-off , but also means most people can get a head-on shot. Always the best angle for those beasts IMO. Rich: I'm still persevering with the 300mm f4L, but with a 1.4 converter added this year. I have a dream involving a 500mm prime; when the finances match the dream you'll be the first to know Steve.

Taking pictures at a Greek airfield? Me? Are you mad?
Bennygman replied to Kyrre's topic in Aviation Photography
I'd say the unknown photographer (and we'll probably never know who it was) did pretty well under the circumstances. Speaking hypothetically, of course. Steve. -
A cracking show (again) in glorious weather - long may it continue! The air ambulance up close... RAF falcons, with their ensign... A nice display by the Grob Tutor... A touch sharper and this would be my favourite shot ever... The superb Apache display... A scorching turn by the French Mirage 2000... The chinook is still being thrown around, and they deservedly won an award for dropping the Falcons, doing a solo display and participating in the Role Demo... The Breitling team. If you squint a bit (well, ok, a lot then) it could almost be the Blue Angels... This years Role Demo provides some nice angles on the Tornados... And finally, no apologies for two pics of the fantastic DC-6 display... Roll on Waddo in a few weeks, and pray that the weather holds. Steve. PS if PHREAK's watching, the cleaning gear you recommended is working a treat - cheers mate.

Ahhh, now I can see them. Nice pics Steve, I'm a bit jealous you got the single seat Mirage on Saturday (but I wouldn't swap it for the Sunday weather ) . Steve.

Ooooh, that's decided it then, I'm getting one of these. A long long time ago I bought the Squadron book mentioned above and loved the original 'Puff' so much I hand painted all the markings onto an old Esci Dak'. The chance to do it properly with the Italeri release is too good to miss. I built one as a D-Day machine a couple of years ago. As I remember the fit of the wings was nothing special, but maybe it was just me. I can recommend the Eduard etch-set to jazz it up, especially the wheel wells / undercarriage. Steve.

Yes, but not before some clown decided to park cars all over my exit route! Took a while to get out, but it was a great day in perfect airshow weather. I got home late so haven't downloaded the pics yet, but I think I finally have some reasonable Apache shots. Hopefully I can post a few tonight. Sorry, Steve I can't comment as the work firewall won't let your pics though, but I'll take a good look this evening. (another) Steve.

Nice work dean, love the Mirages. Just heading off myself in a few minutes Steve.

Top job on both of 'em Mike Steve.

Sorry Daz, I meant to reply to this a few days back. Not being a 'ship guy' normally, I'm a bit stuck for references. The best suggestion I can give is to type 'Belfast Korea' into Google images (but you've probably tried that already). It comes back with a few interesting pics, most of which seem to be form Korea (unfortunately, as I'm doing the WW2 version). Incidentally, on this day 64 years ago she was launching the opening salvos on D-Day. Thanks to everyone who's looked in on the build so far. Steve.
