  1. Right, so, it seems that AK interactive is selling a few airbrushes now and a bunch of them are in all likelyhood cheap Fenga airbrushes from China. These are: FA 186AK and FA 136AT. Then there is FA 130T which is without doubt one of the cheap chinese aluminium airbrushes. FA 180X looks a bit different but I'd wager it is a Fengda brush aswell. Now, are they good? I have no idea, I never had any luck with the cheap airbrushes. And by cheap I don't necessarily mean price. Could be these are binned and the AK ones are great. Could be they are just the bottom shelf cheap crap. AK AIRBRUSH – BASIC LINE 0.3: This one is different, It seems identical to my Sparmax DH 103 except for the handle with cutout/needle stop and the trigger seems to be longer. I can't say for sure if it really is a Sparmax airbrush, but if it is, the price is really good. Personally I am convinced it is a Sparmax airbrush, but I can't guarantee that. The absolutely best airbrushes I have ever owned in regards to price/performance are my Sparmax airbrushes. They don't look super fancy but they are of very good quality, made in Taiwan. And the price is great, they can be had for something like 50-60 Euro, depending on model and where you are of course.
  2. HAS to be, I bagged a couple of Hasegawa A-4ms a couple of days ago and have started hacking away, so clearly it will be an OA-4m 😄
  3. I'm pretty sure it will be included, the tall tail is on sprue F together with the water-methanol tank. And the tank is used in the instructions, so sprue F should be in the kit. I don't see any gates to seperate the tail, so, I think it will be in there.
  4. Some say that, some say that Peace Marble II and III C and D aircraft are all called Barak. I don't know, but I found it easy to find consistent translations of "Barak" through various dictionaries. I have never found anything related in regards to "Brakeet". Translating thunderbolt results in "Chaziz". Maybe anyone here who speaks Hebrew and can help?
  5. Looks good. Sure, not exactely cheap, but then again, I am a slow builder, this will give me 20, 30 hours of enjoyment. Not a bad price per hour I think.
  6. Yes, that is the point, it is a direct translation of butcher bird based on wrong assumptions. Either Schlachter Vogel or Schlächter Vogel, both would be valid but wrong in the context.
  7. I thought it was called Kurfürst, but maybe that is just some post-war thing? Kind of like the confusion about the name of the FW 190 which is sometime called "Schlachter Vogel" in german, from the english "butcher bird" in the assumption that it was called that because it was a war machine. But "butcher bird" is just another name for "shrike", and the german name for shrike is "Würger" which was the actual name.
  8. I don't use completed models, god knows I wouldn't get far that way considering how slow a builder I am. But sometimes I use a temporarily put together model as reference to create a line drawing. Basically I use it as a perspective reference, lots of stuff gets corrected and changed in the line drawing according to research since it can be a bit tricky since not all models are necessarily accurate in shape and detail. I don't use it at all for light, just a starting point for perspective.
  9. Get an extractor. It is not sexy equipment and many people will not use one. But seriously, get one. I often hear people say that you don't need one when spraying acrylics since they are (mostly) not toxic. The issue with acrylics is not toxicity but the acrylic pigments that will enter your lung and if small enough, they will not leave again. Also a mask ideally. I know, it is not really the time where you would want to wear one when building when you had to wear one for a good part of the day already, but I'd really advise to wear one.
  10. If they do the later asymetric Versions of the Bf 109, YAY! If it is the usual G6 I will pass.
  11. That airbrush is a rebranded Badger (ex Thayer and Chandler) Omni 4000. I have never used one, but if you look for reviews of the Omni 4000 you'll probably find loads more than of the Apex version.
  12. One difference I know of is that the CR models are chrome plated (I think tripple chrome plated as bmwh548 said). The Silverline is not chrome plated but nickel plated. The FPC comes with an adjustment valve, like a mac valve, and has a needle limiter at the back. The infinity also has a needle limiter, but that one has some sort of mechanism that allows to set a distance, disengage and reengage it whithout having to readjust. They call it quick-fix. Other than that, the silverline has the original needle cap with the holes whereas the infinity has the two prong needle cap. Needles, nozzles and the caps are interchangeable between all evolution and infinity models.
  13. I didn't have the time to go through the entire thread, so apologies if this has been posted already. http://soyuyo.main.jp/f4/f4e-1.html This is a link to Jumpei Temmas amazing Phantom drawings. Various versions including the fg.1, crossections and everything. That guy is a true master.
  14. I had another look. I am now about as certain as I will ever be that that figure comes from a Tamiya F-4. I think the crew figures are identical between all Tamiya 32nd scale Phantoms. Here is a link to a thread on another forum with pictures of the crew. The only other thing I can think of is that it is part of another kit where the crew is an excellent copy of the Tamiya part. Come to think of it, I'm not sure about the crew in the Tamiya F-14. I think they are different, but maybe not, might be the same as in the F-4. https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/1-32-tamiya-f-4j.46766/
  15. I am pretty sure that figure is from one of the tamiya F-4 kits. It is 32nd scale right?
  16. Ha, that is awesome, takes me right back to my childhood and the wonderfull pixel illustrations in the flight games back then. Beautiful, very beautiful!
  17. Has it ever occured to you that people might do this, the discussions, the red lines, the detective work, cutting up kits, because they enjoy it? If you don't that is fine, but is it really necessary to be so dismissive and patronizing? I have been working on detailed drawings of the bf109 Erla G-10 engine cowling for years and found some very interesting things that have not been represented in any kit so far. But when I'll present my findings in a year or two, I'll need a bunch of red lines to explain my findings. Red lines on a few photos dragged from the web. You know, because that is the only resource there is for this aircraft. And posts like yours, well, they very much make me think twice about showing my work at all, you do call it pointless pathetic dribble. Just let people enoy what they enjoy, you don't have to feel sorry for them and they don't need your pitty, they are fine. Just be cool about it.
  18. Just a word of caution for the obsessed Tomcat fan, the Eduard F-14D wheels are not actually D wheels, they depict the main wheel hub of B/late A. So far I don't think they have actual D wheels. The detail is stunning though.
  19. In regards to the cooling of the R-2800 version, I remember reading that there are a bunch of coolers in the cowling and a radiator under each wing. You can see it in the image where the cross is. No fan as far as I know. There is another R-2800 one out there: https://imgr1.flugrevue.de/image-article169Gallery-60cc7a19-1655285.jpg
  20. The iranian Tomcats don't have the the main cover for the refuelling probe, so to be accurate one would have to scratch a bit. The Hasegawa kit doesn't depict that either though.
  21. Thanks Robert. Looks like the box comes with everything in regards to the three versions. This looks like an absolute gem, wow.
  22. I think it will. If I remember correctly there are only 3 different configurations of the gun vents (disregarding prototypes) and the molds show 3 different insert parts. Should be in there. I am quite excited for this kit, I have to say. This might be a real winner right here.
  23. The pictures of the molds show lots of different alternative parts for different versions, the beaver tail is a seperate part for example. The molds also show three different parts that seem to be the insert panel for the gun area. My guess is that the model shown is a combination of different parts for different version boxings. Hence the different seats and so on. I wouldn't put to much weight on that, we will not get an A boxing with two different seats. An interesting thing to note are the panel lines where the glove vanes would be. They are curved when seen from the top. I only know of one other tomcat kit where this feature is present, the 48th scale Tamiya kit. So there does seem to be quite some attention to detail there. I bet there will be A, B, and D boxings. A and D for sure.
  24. Well, I mean we all have those subjects that are dear to our hearts and that we'd like to see done, but I have no doubt in my mind that bf 109 kits and so on sell really well. When Tamiya did their F-14, I don't think they looked at existing model kits thinking "that one is missing", I think they saw a market for their very own F-14. To them it is not repetitive because it is their kit and their goal is not to fill in the blanks in regards to missing subjects but to create a product that sells really well. Truth be told, if Tamiya started doing just the subjects that I really really want, they'd be in financial trouble really fast. I look at it like this: Are there subjects I'd like to see but are unlikely to ever be kitted? Sure, absolutely. But at the same time, I remember going to the little corner shop tightly clutching my allowance and then spending half an hour deciding which of the 4 revell kits there I'd buy. Today, there are so many kits and so much variety, subjects I never thought I'd see and in a level of quality that would have blown my 8 year old self clean out of my socks. It would blow me out of my socks now, but gravity treats me differently these days. It's a great time to be a model builder, not perfect, but bloody great :)
  25. Thank you so much guys. I'm not really sure what the next thing will be, but I have taken a liking to the Spitfire VII and have started to do some research into that type :)
