  1. Another very nice model in attractive colors, paint job is top-notch (as usual)!
  2. A really nice Pony, and the figures are outstanding - way beyond what I can achieve! Good work, Sir!
  3. You are right, Steve - its called "Synthetic Haze Blue". Looking at original photographs, this color ranges from a hazy light-blue to grey-blue, depending on the angle of light. My best guess was Gunze H42 Grey-Blue for the upper sides and Medium Grey H53 for the undersides.
  4. Dear fellow Britmodellers, this is RS Models 1/72 F-5A Lightning, the recce version of the P-38G. I added Brengun photo-etch and painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics, weathering with artists oils. I found this kit pretty challenging, with fit issues galore. It can only be recommended to experienced modelers. According to the kit instructions, this particular aircraft belonged to 12th PRS, based in Florennes, Belgium in October 1944. This information cannot be confirmed, as the 12th PRS flew F-6 Mustangs at that time (not Lightnings) and was never based in Belgium: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12th_Reconnaissance_Squadron If anyone can provide further details about this aircraft, infos are most welcome. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  5. I've built the Hasegawa kit, and used exactly 90g ballast in the forward section, so I can confirm the above suggestion. You have to be creative though to fit that amount of lead shots into the available spaces.
  6. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 KORA Focke Wulf Fw-190 F9 "Panzerblitz". The kit features Eduard's plastic sprues for an A-8 (some modification on the lower wings is required), a bag of resin bombs and rockets, three small photo-etch frets and a decal sheet. The bombs and rockets are not better than the plastic parts from the Eduard F8 kit. I had a left-over weapons sprue from a F8, so they were duly replaced. A small photo-etch frame supplies seat belts and pedals, but no instrument panel. Instrument panels are provided as black/white paper print-outs only. The second frame holds the ventilators - both 12 and 14 blade are provided. The rocket rails are supplied as a photo-etch assembly on the third frame. I struggled to get everything folded straight and in line, so the rails were substituted with the Eduard plastic part as well. In the end I only used the photo-etch part for the small fairing just ahead of the rocket racks. The four decal options are very interesting, the decals themselves of very good quality. They are printed on a continuous carrier film and have to be cut out individually. I noticed that this kit was not very well received within the BM community (have a look here): I understand that the price tags of some distributors may put some modelers off. I had the chance to grab a couple of the KORA boxings at Eastern European model shows, directly from the manufacturer, sold for a price marginally above the regular Eduard kit. If you really want to have a Fw-190 F9 (and can't wait until Eduard release their version) this is the only game in town. The only other contender is the Hasegawa kit, which is already hard to find. According to my research, only a few Schlachtgeschwader used Panzerblitz weapon systems operationally in spring 1945: SG 1, SG 3, SG.10 and SG 77. My model represents a machine of one of those units. I painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics and weathered with artist's oils. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna! Roman
  7. I do keep the box top arts of most kits, I cut them out and store them. Instructions that have paint schemes on them are stored as well (you never know).
  8. A very interesting and in-depth research on your behalf - and a nice model as well. I was surprised to read that "The spinner and undercowl were painted red" .. There weren't any red ID markings in use with Luftwaffe fighters in North Africa/MTO - was this painted by RAF personel after taking over the plane?
  9. I cannot see any "glitches" here ... this is a lovely model you should be proud of!
  10. I agree with you Reini - it did turn out "ok"! I especially like the subtle surface paint effects and the multi-colored tail.
  11. A rather ungainly aircraft to my eyes, but a very nice model! Good job on the metallic surface panel variation. Welcome to BM, Daniel - looking forward to see more of your builds. cheers Roman
  12. Hello Fuad, another very nice piece from your factory. The smoke-ring camo is an eyecatcher!
  13. Confirmed, both from Zvezda's molds. A good choice!
  14. Yes, I think so! There's only one 1/72 Revell Tempest. It was released in 1963 and has been re-boxed several times, last time in 1993.
  15. File under "rivet monster". I built one many years ago. The Academy kit is a far better choice (until Airfix decide to re-tool).
  16. Servas Daniel! Nice to see you around here, too. Best greetings from Vienna Roman
  17. One of the most impressive paint jobs I've seen lately... and a very beautiful aircraft, too! Amazing work, best greetings from Vienna!
  18. A detailed build report will be featured in an upcoming edition of Scale Aviation Modeller International.
  19. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 AZ Model Potez 540 Transport, a re-box of the venerable Heller kit. The model was painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics. All photographs by Wolfgang Rabel. I would like to thank fellow Britmodellers TonyTiger66, VG33, BS_w and Graham Boak for their help in research. Much appreciated! Thanks for your interest, best greetings from Vienna!
  20. Something different in scale and theme! As usual, built and painted to the highest standard. Didn't know you're a figure painter as well! The ensemble looks entirely realistic to me.
  21. Great representation of this pretty cool lookin' Soviet bomber. I wish Zvezda would scale this kit down to 72! Paintwork is excellent, you captured the shades well. Pity about the frosted clear parts, something I know all too well from my own builds. I often ended up with dust and sanding particles on the insides, so a fellow modeler recommended to dip clear parts in Gloss Cote before fixing them. This is supposed to cover the surface and make it more difficult for dust to settle. Problem is, not all clear parts react in the same way - it sometimes works beautifully, and sometimes I'm left with stains and 'frosted' looks. Zvezda's clear parts are very special in their own way as they do not take on polishing (as I learned on my build of their Pe-8). Greetings from Vienna!
  22. Hooray! I've been waiting long time for this release, decal options are well chosen. Will get myself a couple of them. Looking forward to more upcoming marking variants! I wonder if they will be making Bf-109 G10 Erla version as well? This would complete the range of 109's, and would make one modeler very happy.
  23. I have built my 1/72 ICM Tu-2 in exactly that colors. I used a color profile from a book by Jason Nicholas Moore: https://www.amazon.de/Tupolev-Tu-2-Forgotten-Medium-Bomber/dp/178155532X Unfortunately I have no background info about the purpose of that scheme.
