  1. Longtime browser, first time poster. I've finally made a start on my 1/48th Mosquito production line, although only the cockpits have been started on my 2 Revell B IV's and 3 Airfix kits, FB VI, NF 30 & PR XVI. Now I had also purchased a Paragon bulged bomb bay to go with the PR XVI as I wanted to turn that into a bit of a special "what if" very late model, photo reconnaissance version. I didn't realise that the PR XVI kit already came with a bulged bomb bay so i will use that on the special build. So I have a spare bulged bomb bay that I had decided to use on one of the Revell B IV kits to make that into one of the 20 aircraft that were fitted with the bulge. Looking at as many photos as I can find of bulged Mossie's though there seems to be a difference between the size and shape of the bomb bays fitted to the B IV's to B XVI's than on the ones fitted to the late model bombers and PR aircraft. The later model aircraft the bomb bay seems to be larger or certainly deeper than those fitted to the earlier bomber marks. although this could all be an optical illusion from the photos I have. Is anyone aware of there being any differences in the sizes or shapes of earlier and later bulged bomb bay's on Mosquitoes???
  2. Many thanks for that but I'm now sorted. Italeri had released the same kit as their UH-1D "Slick" and I've been able to download copies of those instructions for use
  3. Amongst a job lot of kits I bought a few months ago was a kit of Esci's 1/72 UH-1D Huey Hog. However the kit come without it's instruction set and I'm wondering if anyone has an instruction sheet they could scan (preferred) or photocopy for me. I'm on the look out for a second kit (hopefully with instructions) but they seem to be rare as rocking horse doo doo as I'd like to build a pair of Australian Army machines, one as an armed aircraft the other as a transport version as seen in a photo album on Primeportal
  4. Many thanks for those pictures. It certainly does seem to be that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing...I hope they correct the website before people start paying over the money!!! Unless they are the people hoping to make a killing on Ebay by offering newly released kits at inflated prices to modellers who must have the kit as soon as it's released...in that case then I hope they do buy the kits at the £50 price and then can't sell them because the price drops. Anyway enough of my price moans and whinges...I do like the look of the new Lancaster and glad to see they are doing the Mk II version as well. Looking at the pictures It looks like the bomb aimer's blister is the smaller early type...does anyone know if it will have the later, larger type??? and what about the later type rear gun turret with .50 cal guns in the later turret design???
  5. In retort to the last 2 postings, as regards the size of the aircraft...it still doesn't explain the price...considering that the Airfix 1/48 Sea Vixen is retailing on the Airfix website for £39 & the 1/48 Lightning £29...aircraft of similar size to the Javelin...and the 1/72 Valiant, an aircraft in real life twice the size-ish of the Javelin is also retailing for £39. £50 still doesn't stack up to me. The prices I'm going by are those from the Airfix website...I can easily believe retailers undercutting Airfix by a couple of quid...but not up to £20, unless the retailer has loads of them and they aren't selling. I'm not dissing the release of the Javelin...it's lovely to see...just the pricing policy...something I've seen from Hornby in their model railways. Oh by the way I left Lemmy, Doc & Mitch on Mars...they were cramping my style and they didn't like model aeroplanes...the philistines!!!
  6. Love the new list of releases and glad to see some retools of the old Airfix kits like the Typhoon, Gladiator and the Harriers. Wetting myself over the bomber support set...something that been needed for ages and ages...save us having to find Stirling kits for a tractor and bomb trollies. Can I, though, just be a bit of a killjoy £15 for a 1/72 Harrier Gr3 when the Gr1 is only £11 (pricey even at £11)??? from Airfix £15 should be a good highly detail 1/48 kit. £15 is the same price for the 1/48 Hawker Fury Why 2 seperate kits for the Gladiator??? the only difference being the ski's...you can fit all parts for all the different versions of the Galdiator into one kit. Glad we are now getting a larger scale Javelin too but still getting this idea that at £50...a bit pricey...there 1/24 Spitfire Vb is the same price.
  7. I've just taken delivery of a couple of Revell 1/48 Bf110 G2/R3 kits as well as a G4 nightfighter. My plans so far are to build the G4 and one of the G2's as is. But for the second G2 I've been toying with the idea of building a "What If" version of the Bf162 "Jaguar". I know that I should be able to use the existing wings with some modifications to the wings tips as those on the prototype were more rounded. I should be able to use the the aft section of fuselage as again this was basically Bf110. What I don't have is much information of the cockpit area, especially any plans, to see what work needs to be done. I know the seating was side by side so I presume the cockpit was wider, I also presume that it would have been a cramped affair, similar to the mosquito. To make things easier to build I probably won't go for a fully glazed nose like the prototype, perhaps use a 1/72 He 111 nose modified to look reasonable. Has anyone or does anyone know if someone as built something like this so I can see what needs to be done, especially photos and any drawings & sketches
