  1. Simon no problem, Just give me a bit of time while I get the photo's downloaded & work out how to go about it.
  2. I recently had the opportunity to take some close up photo's of a friends Sherman Grizzly, which is now finished in U.S. colours & fitted with American sprockets & rubber cleat track. Although It was a canadian built AFV & ironically served with the 52nd on D-Day, it was "converted" to represent an American one ( by the Tank museum I believe) for display at the 2004 Normandy anniversary. Not strictly an accurate restoration, I know, but If anyone is interested, let me know please. Regards Rad.
  3. Chris this painting is amazing in that the Phantom literally " jumps out" of the image. Thank you for sharing. Ps if you get it to print, I wouldn't mind buying one.
  4. Hi SF, Thanks for the feedback and complimentary comment about the model shop, though the museum has been in existance since around 1985, it moved from Firbeck to Doncaster in 2000. Considering it only has a small, but active cell of volunteers it is a real "treasure". I am a member, but don't get over as often as I'd love to, but I will pass on the comments. Regards Rad
  5. C Hi Chris, Here is the Key! Get a copy of the SAMI article about the kit by Jacques Niot if you can- its a good guide and he made the original masters. Be prepared for lots of sanding, test fitting and a bit of hard graft. The only parts I replaced were the Brownings & I fitted engines from a couple of 1/48 Beaufighter kit. Once you get into it, it doesn't cause major headaches. A word of caution though, the front part of the main canopy didn't look right, that's due to the top being angled as you look from the side, where it should be almost parallel with the fuselage spine. Finally don't get too frustrated, the effort is well worth it. Regards Rad.
  6. Nice to see someone else who can live with a FM Halifax. Ok it test your skills, but looks good when finished. Still, it'll be nice to see a 1/48 mainstream release though.
  7. Just to let you know I've read on the Key publishing forum that Keith Woodcock has got an exhibition at Doncaster Aeroventure until Sept 18th & a Cold War Fest this weekend. Museum rates apply, but details found on www.aeroventure.org Regards Rad.
  8. Thank you all for your replies, I've now had chance to look at the kit instructions which state "Khaki PC10" so Olive drab is going to be. Regards Rad.
  9. Ok it may be a daft question to some, but I'm only just venturing into WW1 builds & am currently working on the Eduard F2 w/end edition. The problem I have is the upper surfaces are Khaki!- the colour of Humbrol Khaki is more akin to a dark teak or "Brasso" whereas, most British WW1 aircraft I've seen seem to be a Dark Green or Chocolate (service Brown). can anyone help please. Many thanks Rad.
  10. There looks an awful lot of kit in that box Iain, I must admit I was more than pleased with the Revell/Monogram 1/48 He111 kit and the latest 1/32 Luftwaffe releases have been amazing, but this one looks like it's going to live up to all expectations- even exceeeding the Ju88. Enjoy the build.
  11. That's alright till the bailifs catch up with you, then you're two Heinkels down boo hoo
  12. Yippeeee!!! - Pity I'm skint at the mo though.
  13. Having read the thread about the Sunderland, I looked on the company's website & found details of a new early model B17 in RAF colours. Anyone know of a release date?
  14. I must admit I've not heard of a F.4 released by either company, but I have built the AMT 1/48 Meteor F.1 which came with a V1 in the late 1970's. Not a bad kit in its day, but the V1 was a bit suspect.
  15. Hi Iain, Cheers for that, I don't know when they arrived at Finningley but believe they were there almost upto the station closing. Thanks again Rad.
  16. Help!!! Having seen Iain's build of the 1/32 hawk (on the review thread) in 100 Sqn colours can anyone please give me the Xtradecal catalogue number? the only 100 Sqn decals I can find are for the aircraft with the black spine and fin. Many thanks Rad.
  17. We'll sort somthing out- I'm working tonight, ( just waiting for the days crew to bring the ambulance back) but if I get chance I'll PM My phone No.
  18. Edgar, Thanks for that information, its just I intend to build a 1/32 Mk Vb & Mk VI in 616 Squadron colours soon. I also see where you are coming from with the Circle, I took it as brass Due to it appearence in the photo. Mark, I've just noticed where you're from- Hello neighbour!!
  19. Mark, My appologies for hi-jacking your thread a little. But seeing the photo's of the previous thread, can someone please confirm when Spitfires began to have the aerial wires that ran from the tips of the horizontal tailplane to the side of the fuslage (I believe the entry point is the brass coloured circle, seen just off center in the red spot of the roundel) Many thanks Rad. p.s.Mark enjoy the build, as a kit its a delight to assemble.
  20. Selwyn, OOps my mistake, it was Hectors- thanks for the correction. Regards Rad
  21. Thankyou for that dave- That is just what I needed.
  22. Hi Santiago, The 613 Sqn used both Hawker Demons and Lysanders during the Battle of France in the AOP role, the colour scheme used was standard dark green/ dark earth, with black/??silver or white?? undersides. codes (ZR-?) were Grey and aircraft were fitted with bomb racks which remained on return to the UK. On return, the squadron was based at RAF Firbeck- a comandeerd civil aerodrome a few miles to the east of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, before transferring to RAF Doncaster. Here they changed aircraft and began to operate Curtis P40's. . A number of photos exsist of these aircraft taken at Firbeck (one with Paddy Barthrop stood in front) and some can be seen on display at Doncaster Aeroventure aircraft museum. Incidentally the new Eduard kit seems to have a 613 machine as ZR letters are on the decal sheet. I hope this helps & look forward to see the end results. Regards Rad.
