  1. I'd love one!!!!!!!! Trouble is I'm skint. So all donations to.........
  2. you can say that again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. If memory serves me right, there is a book called Broken Eagles which I think gives details of some BofB Ju 88 A5's that where shot down over the North East & Yorkshire in August 1940. Regards Rad
  4. Hi, 613 Squadron operated the P40 from Doncaster in 1941. I understand the early RAF aircraft had the US sand & spinach camo, but what was the underside colour? Also was the sky band applied before or after the aircraft.arrived in the UK? Can anyone please enlighten me? Regards Rad
  5. Thanks Dennis, I will try to look out for one, hopefully........ Historically, 616 was the last Sqn to operate the type- ironically, when they replaced them with Spitfire's, they were ex 19 Sqn Mk1's.
  6. What a beautiful pair of Gloster's. I wish I could be a 1/4 as good when I build bi- planes. If I may ask a silly question, who's kits & what scale? In particular the Gauntlet, as I love any aircraft associated with 616 Sqn. I'm currently writing this on my phone, so if I have missed the answer, it'll teach me to read the thread better. Regards Rad
  7. Let's see a Rose turret amongst any produced. My Mums cousin worked at the Rose bros factory, so I'd like to build a Lance with one fitted given it was instigated by Bomber Harris. When you understand the turret design, it was very impressive.
  8. Hi, the dark green does tend to go Matt and appear brownish as the paint finish weathers. Ironically the grey becomes lighter. I understand this is due to sunlight " bleaching " the pigment.
  9. I must admit my fondest memory of "whatashame" (& at the time, what a great privelege) it was to be there for the 1990 Battle of Britain 50th flypast. With the apron full of BofB.M.F. & F4's, I have never seen, nor will do again such a marvelous sight at a non-airshow event, I forget what other aircraft were involved, but I knew every Battle of Britain Sqn, then currently flying were represented. The other real memory that sticks in my mind was being in the runway caravan during take-off. A two-ship was good....a four ship mind blowing, Though very well sound insulated, the percussion & sight of full after burner could not fail to impress.......Oh happy days . P.s. the best thing about exercises was the Sqn callsigns. You didn't need much of an imagination to know why!!!!!
  10. From it's earliest conception & problems with jamming guns,Bader still mistrusted the b "wing" cannon armed aircraft, so while 616 was part of Bader's Tangmere Wing & re-equipping, he obtained a Va the allocated to the Squadron instead - i.e. W3185. I cannot vouch for the radio fit, but the absence of the nose art was probably due to lack of time for the opportunity to apply it. I'm not sure exactly when he first used W3185, between ( ??March or May 1941??) & 9th August 1941 when he was shot down the wing was constantly operating offensive sweeps.
  11. I love this model------takes me back to my Wattisham days 1989-1990 (& Waddington 1999-2002, when there was an F4J was sat in our Movements Hangar, sadly it was eventually scrapped )
  12. I hope this is Ok to pass on, but I would like to bring this to everyones attention, if i may? It was aNnounced last year, but there is, funding allowing, to be a Battle of Britain memorial at South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum- see www.polishheritage.co.uk for details of the proposal. If you cannot find it straight away, use the search block of the site & put in either Battle of Britain or Doncaster plans unveiled. The project is by the same group who where responsible for the Bronze B of B memorial on the Thames embankment. Regards Rad.
  13. Hi Mark, If you live near enough, there is a C.19 cockpit at Sth Yorks Air Museum at Doncaster & a complete example at Newark. I cannot validate the originality for the internals of either of these but they may be of help. regards Adrian.
  14. Hendon's Wellington is a MK T10- currently under restoration at th RAFM- Cosford's Michael Beetham facility. This aircraft does have a black bombay.
  15. S'pose it beats being a Cat on a hot tin roof!
  16. If what comes in the box looks as good as this when it comes out..........................want one
  17. There used to be a Rwy caravan at Newark which was definitly Black/White Checked.
  18. All those in favour.............................carried unanimosly!!!!
  19. Hi Mark, That's a very nice Stuka you've done there!!!! I know they aren't everyones cup of Tea, but I like the 21st Centuary kits- they need a bit of work, the screws & plugs for the fuselage are annoying, but nothing too taxing to fix.In some ways they remind me of the old Matchbox range. I can't vouch for all the kits but Macchi Veltro had an air of quality in that it an excellent decal sheet, fine detailed wheels & other small parts, all packaged in a way that leave some other manufacturer's trailing. I've only built a M.205, other than Liquid poly cement not working & copious amounts of scraping off a ridge inside the wing I enjoyed it. Needless to say, at £1.99, I got a stash from Home Bargains when they had them in stock - unfortunately I missed out on a Stuka . Regards & happy New Year, Adrian
  20. This was one of the 1/32nd kits I wished I'd bought when they came out. Cracking job there - I just wish whoever owns the Matchbox mould for this kit would do some more- ( if it's Revell then "yes please"- oh & chuck some BofB Me 110's in at the same time. )
  21. Just digressing slightly, I'd love upscale & down scale decals- how is it done please? P.s. I do know that you can get transparent decal sheet, but can it be done using a domestic scanner printer?
  22. Yes Andrew, I do. The photo I have is a copy of one that actually appears in the book, but it looks like it may have one that was available to crew members. I'll try to get it scanned asap- given I've got a new PC with Windows 8, I'm still trying to work around the basics of using it.
  23. Is it possible these markings could be just temporary vinyl ones- the proper RAF ones being applied on receipt? Just a Thought!!!!!
  24. I have a soft spot for the Javelin, enjoying builds of a couple of the Airfix/Heller 1/72 offering (despite the raised detail), but this is brilliant news!!!!!! The price, however debated, is what you prepared to pay, but by todays standard not to bad really, all things considered i.e. what price a dynavector kit, had Airfix not made the descision to produce the kit. I admit I can't afford one yet- but it's another type gone onto my wish list.
