I'd be interested to know if the MoD registered the design before it was first used or within 12 months of its first public use. If they didn't, can it be registered under copyright law?
That's the irony, the MOD attempted and failed to get the markings copyrighted a couple of years ago therefore this is another poor attempt at litigation which is destined to fail at great expense to the taxpayer.
Consider this, every photo taken of British military aircraft taken infringes this copyright if it is posted for others to see.......oh yes that's right, there is no cash involved in posing on a forum but just try putting them up for sale!
The manufacturers of any after market decal sheet would be liable, ad nauseum.
This is an indication of the litigant mentality of the corporate lawyers only in this case aggravated because they are using taxpayers money for the court case!

I think Ian at Ad astra will be busy with the masks for this one! 1/32 scale!

Hi Mark,
Ill be interested to see how this turns out because I fancy this bird in 1/32, Its a fantastic colour scheme
As far as the paragon flaps go, Unless you are depicting the aircraft in flight, I wouldn't bother as when sat on the ground, where other aircraft such as the F15, Hawk etc, have control surfaces that bleed down (or in the case of the Typhoon, Up ) as hydraulic pressure drops, the Tornados don't. i.e you will rarely see a Tornado on the ground with flaps deployed unless under maintenance.
Yes, I made this "mistake!" with my GR4, with the addition of a crew, anything is allowed.

Thanks to all for your interest and kind wishes.
Molly, to all intents and purposes is going on well. She suffers with Marfans syndrome as a result of which she has endured multiple painful operations to get her through to adulthood.
Molly occasionally and thankfully more infrequently, has bouts of sickness related to her condition which can last some time and can be painful. Strangely, one such episode started whilst on a flight back to the UK from Florida which prompted the care and attention from VA crew and the subsequent dedication of the aircraft to Molly.
One thing that always strikes me about her is her unassuming nature. She is self aware to the point that she realises how lucky she is to have made it this far and as a result lives life to the full with an optomistic outlook that puts many fully fit and healthy people to shame, including me. Molly is also aware that there are many people in a far worse position than her and considers herself lucky, almost undeserved.
Its is because of her positive persona that so many people want to be part of her life.
She is a brave young woman and I am proud to be associated with her and called her friend.
Anyway enough slush, Molly said the aircraft is outstanding and the first class cabin beds are something to behold!

The daughter of some good friends of mine were invited to Manchester Airport today where their Daughter Molly was presented with an airplane. In fact with the paint still wet she presided over the rollout of a Virgin Atlantic A340 proudly named Molly after her!
There is a long story as to how this came to be, but without the extreme generosity of all at Virgin Atlantic today would not have been possible. Suffice it to say we are all very proud of Molly as without elaborating too much she is lucky to have survived to see this day.
I wanted to share this with the BM folks 1. because its an unusual event and 2 the pics go some way to showing the new VA livery on the 340.
A few photos of the event. There are some higher quality images to follow which if I can, I will share.

The lucky girl!

Interesting link to a fantastic looking museum at Wright Patterson AFB. Must get over there!

That looks lovely. The bleed isnt exactly what you would call noticeable and a nice job of the blue stripes as well. nice work.

Quick update on some not so quick work.
In short since my last update I have literally been wrestling with getting the Aires resin into a cockpit its not designed to fit, add that to the wheelbay interfering at every opportunity, the job has taken a massive chunk out of my spare time!
In order to get the beast in I have had to complete some serious cutting filing and sanding. In addition I have had to join the fuselage halves prior to shoehorning the pit in. I completed it once then found it was sitting way too low in the fuselage so had to undo it all and have another go. Cryo de bonder...great stuff!
So here is where I am at at the mo.

Its extremely messy looking at the moment so some cleaning and filling then we will be there. My attention now turns to t'other beastie.

Good grief, I didnt realise you had such a renovation job on your hands! Only to glad to be of assistance.
As far as separating glued parts I think sticking them overnight in the freezer then prising them carefully apart works.
I look forward to the finished Article with that lovely camo.

Thats it! my stash is officially pathetic!

I missed last years stash session so ladies and gentlemen I present to you ...................Grounds for divorce!

-
That is looking really nice. keep up the good work.

I know im going out on a very distant limb here, but Ive just purchased the Aires Mk10 seats and despite the fact that they are for the Tornado, the detail on them is superb, and looking at some of the photos around, they dont look That different to the 1:1 Hawk seats.
-
Superb. Lovely paintwork. Love the Flanker!
-
That really is amazing work. Extreme weathering is something iv'e always shied away from, but the choice of subject matter and the execution of the colour scheme really provides inspiration, given that I have a Hind in the stash. Post Pripyat dio?

-
Yep, It appears that the Grumman Ironworks is open for business.
Two cats on the production line.

Attempting a fit of the Aires canopy has been and is emotional There is more plastic surgery going on than the replacement of PIP implants!
The resin set itself is superb and beautifully detailed over the kit cockpit, however with the detail present on the kit parts, a perfectly acceptable representation can im sure be mustered, we will see.

This is the rough fit of the cockpit at the moment.

Iv'e only sprayed the base colours of the pit thus far, plenty more to come yet.
The fuselage joints needed a small amount of filler to be nice and clean and several of the parts in both kits have poor moulding and tons of flash.
One nasty one is the base fairing on one of the fins, about 1/4 of its length is mis moulded and missing. I filled the shortfall with Games Workshop Green stuff which has yet to be finished.

Tons of prep, very little detail work so far. Im sure it will all work out in the end!

Is the F111 b reborn again? seems so.
Then again it also takes a long time to produce

Blimey tons has been said since my last post but then again ive been busy photo shopping all the roundels out of my Coningsby and Fairford photos!
Having read the link from Mike's post, whilst the MOD can cahrge a licence fee for copyrighted material, I think the question here is whether the roundel is or in fact can be copyrighted.
The MOD had a go at establishing copyright for it a couple of years ago and apparently failed.
Ill try and dig out a link.
