Thanks guys.
The wheelbays are a mix of interior green and matt yellow and although darker than the chromate yellow Visually I didnt think it was far off BUT my phots arnt the best and appear to be highlighting a few "issues" with my build, although Im happy to share.
On reflection perhaps a few more pipes and wires would be in order. Ive yet to wash a second time and do a little highlighting.
I cant recommend the conversion enough, even at this stage it completely transforms the look of the sluf. The nose cone itself is about 1/3 as big again as the original trump depiction.
More soon.

Nice Nicey nice!

Inspiration?

Ok here's an update and tale of slight disaster.
Wheel wells were put together and lightly washed, Equipment cabs likewise. Gun constructed and painted steel and intake further sanded to smooth the line between converter and intake.

Now the disaster, despite numerous dry runs and test fittings, I came to the point of joining the body halves. Intake was placed into the body along with the cockpit and gun. Then I went for it! Starting at the business end I glued the body halves and worked my way to the rear. THEN in went the nose with cryo glue and BUGGER it set slightly skew which in turn threw the cockpit combing out along with the Zacto screen framing.
:shithappens: But then we are modellers not just assemblers right?
Anyhow desperation and alterations brought the following results.

This is the result with the outer ring in place

Hands up all those who think this looks like the gob of a basking shark?

smoothing the body joints and wing areas next.

Nice job Drewe. Got one of these in 1 32 to do. (Academy)
Love the scheme, did those decals come in the kit!
-
Looking forward to it lass.

Nice Hurri Bex.
Ive always toyed with the idea of having a go at the 1/24 airfix or trumpy jobby but got nowhere to store it. All the parking slots are reserved for my 1 32 beasts.
a7 f18 f16 su27 f15 & gr4 oooer!

HOWEVER I also have a 1 48 lanc 1 32 fw190 and p38. Might get the p38 out!

Just finished perusing this thread and what can I say other than "Ill get me coat"!
There was me thinking my issue with an intake gap was a major problem and drowning in my own self pity, and here you are engineering a whole plane from nothing!.
Ah well
That is some amazing work and im loooking forward to its conclusion.

The first part of the surgery has finished and my Sluf is well and truly in recovery!
First the nose came off!

Then got replaced by the Zacto nose (dry fitted many times)

Then a coup with the intake. Having sprayed the inside white, I got to thinking how to avoid all the filling and sanding to get rid of the gap between the profiles of the converter ring and the intake.
I tacked the top of the converter ring onto the intake with superglue and then by gently squeezing the sides of the intake, the plastic filled the profile of the converter ring. Still pressing the intake, I heated it gently with a hairdryer and hey presto it stayed in place. I then plastered the outside of the ring with superglue and set aside for more work tomorrow.
The remaining tiny gap will be filled with either pva or superglue, I havnt decided yet, and then painted again.
These are the results.

Think iive saved myself a good few hours here!

Here you go bex, hopefully incentive!
Dont do what i did and forget completely to paint the interior of the cockpit framing!

And that was simply beacuse I was so eager to finish it. DOH!.
I want see piccies of your ECR when its finished!
-
Unreal! outstanding results!!!! very well done, you should be justifiably proud!
-
When I said equipment cabs next, I lied.
I stuffed together the wheel bays and filled and sanded the injector pin holes in the intake. No dramas there then.

I couldnt resist getting into the Zacto stuff so it was on with the air intake.
I have to say, I am amazed at the difference in the profile of the Kit intake and Chris's resin converter piece. Its attention to detail that makes the difference and Chris has even made the recess for the kit locator pins to sit within the ring. Zacto I salute you!

Then it was surgery time. As per the clear instructions I started cutting the intake about removing this amount of plastic for the converter ring
.Word of advice, cut smaller than the dimensions in the instructions, then sand sand sand, regularly setting the intake and converter into the body.

You should end up with this

See the difference in profile? a serious gap to be sorted!

End result

how flush is that?

OMG that toom is looking amazing.
Overshadows my recent build im afraid!
Ah well, as my dad always said, "remember son, there is always someone better than you out there" and Lo heree you are!!!
Truly superb work.

That is amazing work on a VERY unusual subject.
Certainly breaks the mould cant wait to see it finished.

Try this for starters- my refs don't close in enough....

Superb very many thanks
Outstanding reference ta. Looks like the seat is a cross between the Escapac and Stencel seat which means the top of the seat in indeed flat as a pancake but are different colours and layout completely. Perhaps in hindsight the aries option was a good one! DOH!
Just had a look at Zacto models to se ewhat all the fuss is about- bloody Hell! WOW WOW WOW
These are surely the people to do a proper correction for the Viggie- I mean- that A-7 canopy is just

Ive just taken delivery of the 1 32 Flanker intake correction set. Amazing works of art.
Question is, how far do you go with the superdetailing thing!!!!
Discuss..
Thanks again all.
-
Oh no no no, the Zacto upgrade is far from a minor change and the surgery is such that I think im going to have to rent an NHS operating room and life support team!

Im looking forward to the challenge but dont hold out too much hope! only joking...
Yes the bang seat does indeed look a little strange probably beacuse there is no representation for the chute pack which I think is on the top of the seat although If anyone has a clear picture of an E model seat I would be obliged.
The kit itself was a 2006 Christmas pressy and the Zacto Kit a Birthday pressie. I would have liked the Aires pit but ive run out of pressie celebrations, that and were saving for our Kids big family hols......
I do have a spare Aires seat which is from an F 18, however this ,I think is too modern a seat for the A7. Can anyone give any guidance?
Thanks for your comments thus far.

This is my first "in progress" thread so bear with me.
Ive seen the standard of some of the excellent work going on here so I though I would have a go.
A 1/32 trumpy Sluff built out the box with the exception of the Zacto correction set. I will be using the Kit decals in VF 82 Marauders.
Here we go and bear with my photography.
The cockpit

Thats all for now.
Onto the equipment cabs next
-
Stunning, simply stunning in every detail. Very well done!

-
Outstanding build.
God how I would love to see one of these in 1 32 along with the Jaguar!

The more I see them the more Im leaning towards finishing all my builds with a base and badging of some kind, really sets the model off nicely.
-
Ugly V Bomber?

Has to be the Valiant! dated on take off

(I'll now just run along and hide behind this wall!)

-
Hmm looks like there will be an order for Alclad going in.
Up until seeing these phots I cant say ive really been convinced.... I am now!.
Superb work Craig!
-
Thanks for all your kind comments.
Next up is a Trumpy A7 with Zactoman correction.

Have a look earlier in this thread. Periklis kindly pointed me in the direction of a couple of sites re this very subject.
My understanding of what I have read is that the Stencel seat was designed specifically for the A7E no mention of the D.
Its adoption was not apparently accross the board so it appears the D was fitted with Escapac and the e had the option of the Stencel in replacement so some e's did some e's didnt.
That dow help at all does it?????
