  1. US Navy Pacific today announced the first successful re supply flight using a C17 Air Force transporter on a Nimitz class Aircraft carrier.

    C17Landing.jpg

This new capability will mean faster more regular re supply of rations and equipment.

It is believed the RAF will follow suit with trial being conducted on the deck of the Illustrious

Ok Ok so it might be in the wrong place!

  2. Very Many thanks for that quick reply. I have seen your sticky but the term Baby Blue really threw a spanner in the works.

Now the next question is arouns stencilling. It appears from many topside shots that I can find, that the dotted walkway and no step stencils are missing from the GR4 and 4A's and in fact stencilling is kept to a minimum throughout the aircraft with the exception of the major warning marks, ejectior seat jet blast lift points etc. is this right?

  3. The other night I "scored" a black box 1 32 Tomcat cockpit set off E mither!

Now what is this kit like and is it worth the £28.00 I paid for it?

I know its OOP and its worth what you are prepared to pay and all that but seriously what did they sell for when they were available.

I dont mind the purchase as its going in a Tamiya kit.

  4. Im currently building an 1 32 GR4 Op Telic bird ZG 714 "truffle snufflers" BUT Im now totally confused as to the colour scheme.

During my "research" I tracked down a book Tornado by Peter Foster, in which there is a chapter dedicated to op Telic birds.

I am aware that during Op Granby the GR1's were painted in ARTF desert pink, but in this chapter there is a passage which states

"these [Tornado GR4A's ZG 710 713 &714 ] and all further departures to the Gulf were painted in the 'ARTF' baby blue temporary finish, although all of the jets retained their individual squadron code allocations".

From the (few) images I have been able to track down of this bird it definately looks standard grey although the actual markings are a sort of powder / light blue and faded pink ish type stuff.

Is it the marks that the ARTF baby blue is referring to or am I missing sommat. Could someone shed some light?

  5. Missed this one....... Nice save with the engine it has turned out well. Too much kit to bin im afraid!

    Its looking very nice!

One other thing...you appear to have my stash!! same kits and ironically DVD's

I have the academy version of this beast to do but in my case it wont have a spot of grey on it! and No its not going to be a thunderbird!

  6. One other issue is that if the item isnt as described or in any way incomplete or in fact doesnt turn up at all there is no recourse to recover the dosh.

However, looking at his feedback and stuff for sale, I might be wrong, but i,d say he was a dealer in all things modellish!

See those amature sluth classes weren't wasted!

  7. Nick for reference photos have a firkle around here

you will need an account but there are loads of photos of the Saudis floating around in the Photos current section. They are mainly spotted at Warton which is where the upgrades are taking place. Might take some finding but well worth the search.

Heres hoping that the Saudi Typhoons are released in camo colours!! how cool would that be?

  8. In an attempt to drag my lads kicking and screaming from computer games, I foolishly sought solice in LOTR warhammer figures. My logic, they can get stuck into the game and modelling the figures whilst their old man (me) supervised the building.

They took to it big style and now posess 4 seperate armies between them.

I for my part got stuck into this Mumak of Haradrim as it was a present for one of the lads Birthday in April.

Anyhow I kind of took over and produced this which i thoroughly enjoyed.

The chieftan was painted by my 11 yr old lad together with some of the other Haradrim and I have to say Im immensly proud. anyhow on with the show.

  9. Heres my tigermeet, and the eagle eyed amongst you will notice that I didnt (like a complete idiot) paint the inside of the cockpit....... basics. My excuse was that it was one of my first following my return after an absence of 20 odd years.

Anyhow a GR4a to follow shortly!

Note to self.... I really must paint the insides of the cockpit!

  10. Mish the Mach loop is a rather large aviation roundabout (literally) which is used for low lwvel training. It is about 4 miles east of Dolgellau in North Wales.

The subject is covered extensively at www.lowfly.net

Flying is hit and miss, some days tou can be stood all day up a hillside and blank, others aircraft come one after another!

    Not fridays though!
