Hi folks, thought I would share this with you, A twilight burner run of one of the two EE Lighnings based at Bruntingthorpe airfield. Originally it was planned to fast taxi the beast along the runway but due to the recent poor weather it was thought best not to unless there was a significant thaw which there wasnt. Its the first time iv'e attended one of these functions and now wont be the last I can tell you. It is a perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the lightning and ask many questions of the knowlegeable voulenteers around the sheds. Although these wonderful beasties are For information the web site can be found here and I would highly recommend a visit to their lair, and for £20.00 it was outstanding value Anyhow a few photos of the event. XS 904 taken from the cab of XR 728 XR 728 in The ex Wattisham QRA shedwhich has been carefully dismantled and transported to the site. The inevitable arty farty shots......sorry and the extremely ears splittingly loud burner shots from around 30 Ft away! SUPERB! Post run floodlit shots. For those who havn't been to Bruntingthorpe there are many other aircraft to brouse around including an ex Luftwaffe F104 which is being restored for fast taxi runs. NICE!

What a difference a base makes.........
Phartycr0c replied to desmojen's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
couldnt agree more! a base does make all the difference. I build 1/32 jets and the like and with that comes storage problems. I built this for a mate of mine and stuck it on a a piece of redundant laminate flooring. If only I had the room I would be using ases all the time. That FW really is outstanding and as you say the base sets it off a treat. Nice work. -

Panavia Tornado GR4 - Shiny Two..er..31Sqn....
Phartycr0c replied to James V's topic in Panavia Tornado Group Build
That is really nice work m8 looking forward to the final result. Does anyone know if these (or the shiny two ) markings are available in 1/32? -
Very nice work thus far. That cockpit really does make one big difference. Keep up the good work.

Thanks James, I think iv'e got fresh air in the right places as I HAD to go down the cut and seperate line. The thing im really not sure about is the alignment as despite referring to tons of photos, They covered all sorts of different angles and included all angles of flap deployment so basically, I did my best. Im hoping they will look a little better with paint on em. Just got to add the remaining screw jacks as my eyes gave out last night!. Again scuse the photos.
-
M8 that looks spot on. The two shades of grey are so close as to almost make no difference at all. Nose cones also vary between sahdes and aircraft even down to black on some occasions. I suggest this is because of replacement, repair etc

If its a year long thing, im thinking another 1/32 Tonka either Granby (Pink) or Telic (Grey) and an F 117 (black). Always one for exiting colours me!

Somebody please shoot me! I appear to have suffered a rather large Brain fart. Believe it or not im a suffering greatly at the hands of the Paragon flap set despite careful cutting to the dimensions and mocking up with tape etc. It all stems around the actual flaps which are supplied as a one piece deal. However attempting to fit them as such results in the resin flexing quite badly, AND the pivot points dont line up quite right. ANYHOO. Looking at all the builds around on Tinternet, the flaps appear to have been fitted as one peice without apparent problems. YET, all the photos I have of Tonkas with the flaps extended definately show daylight between the four flap sections so I have elected to fit the flaps as four seperate units with the daylight in between. Ill try and put shome phots to illustrate shortly, but pray tell has anyone else suffered similarly or am I a complete donkey destined for the knackers yard?

Was just watching my kids playing a warhammer LOTR battle on the table top and i have to say I was so impressed with what they had achieved in painting up their armies, I had to take a couple of photographs and share them. The Elves are Josef's passion with the Urak hai being Marcus's "team". The mountain troll I confess, is my involvement. anyhow here they are.

Cheers bud. Think that answers me questions more than admirably! Here are the said (sad) photos. Enough of the cockpit for the moment. on with the back end. edited for my stoopidity (photos)

The cockpit halves are now together and seats in place. In a slight amendment, I have cut the middle bulkhead in half and used the cross member for a bit of strength and stability for the (quite heavy) equipment platform. Ill put a coyuple of shots up shortly. Ive also started the Paragon flaps and slats but made a bit of a hash a I havnt thinned the leading edge plastics by near enough, leaving a few small gaps to be treated. Ah well. Next question, Ive got the a Tiald pod from AL. Many thanks, Now can anyone (spike) give me a clue as to what station this would be pinned to for use with 2x paveways and wether this would be a genuine loadout during op Telic.
-
That really is an outstanding build sir, Your dad would have been very proud! lovely tribute!
-
Thanks guys, It was around Telic that the TIIRS for the GR4a was being downgraded / replaced so I wasnt completely sure about the pod. I will be doing an LGB loadout so it seems appropriate. I have noticed that the pod is being regularly carried at present.

Or you could opt for a white and dk grey "snow Jag" Snow jag

Ok, Now work has eased a little I can get re stuck in. Been doing the cockpit which Is a complete beastie to do but the hard work is really worth it, well, at least you lot can be the judge of that. I have taken a lot from Al's thread as he is doing virtually the same build with the flightpath kit and all. The main difference is that Ive left out the bulkhead between the front and rear seat area as per the GR1 phots in the pinned threads giving this result. I have also fed the wires through the two small holes at the rear of the display platforms and tucked them underneath which keep them ou the way nicely. Cheating again I covered the floor with 1200 grade black emery paper to replicate the black grip surface in the GR4. The panels and cockpit have been painted with a mixture of Humbrol enamels and Citadel (games workshop) acrylics which are superb paints. Furthermore Citadel produce a set of different coloured washes. I used Badab black to wash the panels and cockpit sides in an effort to pick out the detail. Then I loosely popped the seats in for a preview of whats the Flightpath builds into. Remainder of the cockpit and stuff next!
