Have to agree with the comments, the level of weathering applied is perfection, Just right! . Inspiration for my 1/32 11 sqdn beast.

Basically Yup!

I must say, I do like these kits, and you will certainly enjoy the Flightpath kit when it lands I would say practice your soldering skills. Superglue just doesnt cut it on photoetch, and theres LOTS of photoetch. Nice work so far, keep it up.

Seconded! The Hunter shot is outstanding!

Al If you are going for an F3 Meindert's conversion appears to be the only solution at present, however the original resin set is like the proverbial Rocking hoss sh*t there are a few about though.

Somebody please HELP ME! My eyes are really playing me up at the moment. I am trying to complete my Trumpeter Swordfish but am having real problems matching the "sky"colour called out by the instruction sheet!. I have been trawling through the various builds here and on other forums but am hitting a brick wall in terms of the correct shade which appears to vary from an extremely light grey to a light grey green. I have fired some Humbrol 90 over the relevant parts but am still not convinced. Three photos which bely the actual tinge of greenish grey in the flesh. it looks almost grey here yet looks slightly more cream /green on the following shots. Please help, whats the correct colour?

Right just hit the commit button with a 1/32 Tamiya F4C in 171st Fighter Interceptor Squadron Michigan ANG colours. " Never Trust a Smiling cat". Might chuck some Seamless intakes at it. Only problem is the decals are so nice i'm loath to wreck em! -

Im assuming your an engineer by trade with such an eye for detail??? That is outstanding work , simply amazing. Just a thought, if you are likely to donate to a museum, try the Imperial War Museum at Duxford Telephone: +44 (0)1223 835 000 Cop an email address and get some pictures off. im sure that would take pride of place on any display! -

My other son will be along shortly with his 1/48 Eurofighter. -
Thats a really nice build. Love the choice of scheme and execution. Modelzone had these on spesh for £7.99 for a short time, I prevaricated and missed out.

My 13 year old sons work

To finish the "what can be achieved" lesson I have showed my lad all of your very encouraging replies and he is made up! Thanks to all. Basically We covered all the bases in terms of techniques that I use. We went through paint mixing and airbrushing , a little pre shading and washing. however that was for the outside, up to that point Josef completed the interior including crew, PE belts and consoles, hand painted with Citadel acrylics and washed with mud brown. The outside was painted with a mix of Humbrol enamels and Citadel washes and with the exception of a couple of "too close" blobs which I covered up it was mostly his own work. I applied the nose decal as he was too nervous but the rest were applied by Jo including the blade tip decals and Army markings. PS there are fingerprints on one of the door glass panels but they dont show up that badly. Thanks again all. -
Hi all, I must say im proud to submit this for your viewing. My 13 year old son recently "pestered" me for a larger scale Huey to build. Now I must say that his and his brothers bedroom resembles the Davis Monthan of unassembled albeit smaller kits, so you can imagine my reluctance when we were at RIAT, he spied this 1/35 Dragon offering, including the PE. Following several pretty pleases and promises to complete I relented an bought the said kit with a lot, and i mean a lot of trepidation. Its very expensive to be sat incomplete. Im glad to say however that he was true to his word and finished it (well almost) and here it is. Yes there are a couple of mistakes which will no doubt be spotted and despite a little help here and there I think he has done the kit proud.

Erm, I have wood!

John, Firstly welcome to the forums, Finally complete then. Very many congratulations on your modern work of art. I cannot believe the effort you put into this build over on ARC but I have to say it really is modelling perfection. Congratulations

Hi folks, Just started prodding one of Trumpeters wonderful MK1 Swordfish and its obvious from the builds knocking around out there, I have a lot to live up to. My question relates to additional details, i.e has anyone any experience of the Eduard sets? Interior, Exterior, hinges and buckles, if so is it worth the extra investments bearing in mind the whole big ed set comes in at £49.00 If not should I plumb for the interior, exterior or hinge set or nothing at all? Im trying to execute something different in that Im using one half of the clear fuselage and masking the area around the cockpit so that lovely detail isnt lost forever. I know this kit builds into a beauty in its own right but is the cost of nearly another aircraft justified and will it change it massively? Help me!

Amen to that, Very well done to all involved just sorry im not up there with you!

It official! this project is now dead in the water Long working hours, lack of modelling time and lack of markings have conspired for me to miss the completion deadline. The decals are a story in themselves in that I realised the kit decals are coming up to 20 years old and did nothing about them until late on. I stupidly thought I could have a go myself at creating the 808 markings and tail flashes. This is where I realise It has to be left to the professionals. I will complete her but not in time for the end of the GB. I did really rubbish considering I was looking at completing 3 kits in twelve months, In actual fact none have crossed the finish line. Mind you I did complete a Flanker (were they in the Gulf war?) Anyhow, here is what im left with at the moment. As a respite I'm now starting on a Trumpeter Swordfish, Very different Fayre to my usual stuff. I will get some markings professionally made up for it and i will complete it, but in the meantime......... See you in the WIP section.

Lovely shots of some lovely aircraft! Wonder how long the remaining Raptor will be "sick" for and whether he "singleton" will be out to play?

Beautiful stuff Must have sounded fantastic! thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the reply guys, makes it worth plodding on! Work has seriously been getting in the way recently so much so when I get in, im that tired that I cant turn my mind to owt else that requires mental effort so again progress has been slow. Enough of the sob story here are some phots, She now stands on her own three feet! Iv'e also been playing with the wearing of various panels to break up the overall blackness of the bird! Photos bely how effective it looks. (i think) Gear and bomb bay doors next. Leaving the canopy, munitions and weathering. I have enquired as to getting the decal sheet remade to suit the build. Watch this space!

The colours are most definitely yellow and navy blue. This was applied to Police aircraft back in 1999 / 2000 following extensive visibility tests. Yellow to stand out against ground clutter when viewed from above, Dark blue to stand out against various sky shades and conditions when viewed from below.

Ah those were the days! I served on both the Squirrel and MD902 before leaving WMAOU Always considered doing both the Squirrel (couldnt find a twin version) and a 902 (no kit available) It was also the availability of markings which ultimately put me off. I cant mask to save my life! I will be watching this with interest.
