  1. I WILL finish mine........oh yes I will finish mine! Keep up the good work. I may have a couple of bomb bay shots floating around if your interested!
  2. Ah Going where angels fear to tread eh!!!! I may just run with you on this one
  3. Ok Huston we have a problem. Shes just out of part one of the paint shop. a three day experience and I have just removed the masking. The underside has come out ok thus far with no issues to speak of. I hope the two tone grey is apparent in the shots. Also the circular number plate screw cover is part of my cunning base mount device. The barley / camo grey was then applied and left for 24 hrs to cure. then came the black. this was left until touch dry. removal of the said masking revealed this ok so far... Aw Bugga!!!! Not an unmitigated disaster but a proverbial pain all the same. Shes back off to the paintshop soon.
  4. ^^^^^^ +1 Now i'm going back to my F3 book. I cant keep up with this level of detail!
  5. Phenominal stuff The detail in that cockpit is outstanding! . Looking forward to doing mine at some stage now!
  6. Oh Man! that looks absolutely fantastic. Those masks really are a work of art and you ve done them more than justice. Very well done. Just on the subject of F3's Take a look at this baby!
  7. Coming along great there, its looking nice. Ill have to get mine finished now! In answer to your exhaust question, the fins did indeed finish flush with the upper fuselage, leaving a plane "gallery" which on the 1:1 was lined with ceramic heat resistant tiles. Furthermore, when the aircraft is viewed from the rear, the exhaust vents cant actually be seen as the bottom of the fuselage was curved slightly upwards. It was all done to reduce the I.r heat signature of the engines, in fact, cooling air was taken from the air inlet, bypassing theengine and was mixed with the hot exhaust gasses in a further attempt to coll her down. I digress, I think you 'll agree that the Flightpath stuff really enhances the look of what could be a boring subject. Keep up the good work.
  8. No James, its not wrong at all, Basically as degs pointed out, when the Tornado lands the wing spoilers are almost always deployed in lieu of the airbrakes, something I hadn't really thought about until now. The spoilers are located in the area iv'e circled. She will be the black tailed bird but at the same time will be weathered "appropriately" (I hope) Delbydoo, welcome to the forums and thanks for your positive comments. This has been sat in my stash on close to three or so years> Iv'e been putting it off because I thought it was going to be a huge job, but as it turns out it hasnt been too bad thus far. Now shes going for pre shading!
  9. Yes I know I do! but im certain ill c*ck it up!
  10. Hi Degs, Yes I clocked that but looking at the kit, to "dig out" the spoilers would be a little beyond my scratching capabilities. To do it properly would need a major re structuring of the wing involving the removal of the molded spoilers and replacing them with the proper recesses for the spoilers to sit in. In addition, the Paragon set relies heavily on the top half of the wing structure to hang off. Whilst I' m sure it is possible to depict the spoilers deployed, I'm a big scaredy cat
  11. Ok still plodding along with my F3. Shed loads of rubbing down and a couple of coats of mr surfacer and I think I may have this somewhere near. There are a couple of "wounds" still to do but its getting there. As you can see, the Paragon Flaps and slats have been completed. Once Im happy with her overall, Its some re scribing (never my strongest point) then orf to the paint shap. TTFN
  12. Indeed it is a big beastie. Im after a two seater to go with my single. IMHO its a great kit. not without its "issues" but great all the same. What colours is it going to be in? Keep up the good work.
  13. Don't forget, If you hadnt already clocked it of course, the bomb doors open inwards towards the centre of the bomb bay, not outwards. The kit portrays the bomb bay totally inaccurately.
  14. Just landed one of these for myself ( The Argos one) I think ill wait until the excitement dies down then happily plagurise all the wonderful builds going on at the mo. I do like the extra detailing your doing, especially the flap area as Hawks have a tendency to droop at rest. Im surprised Revell didnt give the kit the option.
  15. Nice work Steve, cant wait to see the final colours on. Not that I want to rush you but youv'e certainly picked a lovely scheme.
  16. Ok a quick update while i wait for the filler to dry on the wing extensions! The now correctly seated wing gloves and open auxillary doors Plug was a little out on top so Iv'e had to blend it in a little, and the attempt to reshape the fuel tank area. Don't know if it's anywhere near right. Overall, underside Overall topside. Some rescribing needed then a through wash before blowing over with Mr surfacer to pick out any imperfections.
  17. Hi a couple for you to be going on with. If I recall correctly, I think it was an air intake to assist in cooling the AC / DC voltage converter which resides inside the fuselage on the Port side below the fin, although I may be completely wrong! Iv'e also got a shed load of detail phots available if you require em. Here
  18. Ah I see you looked in on my build...... in answer to your questions, The am was from the Gunsmoke range of US stuff that David Parkins produces. Top notch but a little fiddly unless you keep at it. Details here halfway down the page. The kit does go someway to correcting the issues with this bird, Mainly the nose and intakes but IMHO well worth the investment. Decals are another issue altogether. No one produces alternative sheets for this beast with the exception of, I think CAM who produced the decals and masks for the Stars and stripes version. If the kit decs are remotely good, use them. I on the other hand, had to get my serials remade by Paul at Parkes682 decals, only because I was making a specific bird. This is a great website for references. Need any help give me a shout.
  19. Hi Mark, Dont know if these help? If you want the full res pics, let me know
  20. Here we go then. Some are a little dark / blurred as im getting used to my new D200 Hurricane Spit Mk 5 MK 19 Lanc MK 9 Mk 16 MK 5 again MK 5 Hurricane MK 2 Apologies as these were "grabbed" as we were escorted down the middle of the hangar. If anyone wants acopy of the full size images, pm me.
  21. Hi folks, I was up at the BBMF hangar the other day where I got a couple of closeups of the spitfires (and hurricane) with the covers off their front end bits. Would anyone be interested in the fots if I popped em up for reference?
  22. This is a really nice conversion. I love what you've done with the cockpit and the seats. Isnt it amazing how just opening up a few vents transforms a model into something a lot more realistic. Keep the good work coming!
  23. Our builds are like the proverbial buses, never see one then two arrive at the same time!!!!! Lovely work going on, ill try and catch up!
  24. Firmly down the airbrakes will stay (apply Yoda voice accordingly) Thanks all for putting me straight. Just got to sort out exactly how to mount said bird onto the board.
  25. Sorry bud, yes, very useful thanks. I am now clear on what remodelling needs to be done. Thanks again Merv
