Just clocked this one ! lovely work The Tremblers markings are lovely and the brushwork outstanding. Top modelling. !
On a side note, I got both my GR4 and F3 tank fins bottom about face!

-
Oooh lovely. I will be attempting one of these for the GB which will be ultimately passed on to one of my mates for his 50th Birthday. ( the F4 not the group build!)
Unlucky with the canopies. Did you give them a dip in Klear before fixing them? Klear protects the styrene from glue and paint fumes which cause hazing / misting.
Dont know if that was the cause but it might be useful for the new canopies if you can get hold of some.
Keep up the good work its coming along superbly.

Stunning stuff simply stunning. although its two tone grey, there is something that really stands out.
Ps. I do like your stand!
-
Telford! bring it to Telford!!!!
-
Lovely start with those stores, but were you not in the forthcoming GB ?
-
Indeed, looking very nice. keep up the good work.
I do have to say that isnt it strange how a lot of pilot figures don't actually fit into kit cockpits? I had to de leg my F3 pilots to fit and that was a 1/32 kit. Wonder if there would be a decent market for some nice seated jet pilot figures in 48 and 32?
Just wondering
-
-
I see youv'e had to de leg your bloke as I had to do with my Tornado! I know cockpits are cramped but this is ridiculous.
That figure is superb. Its all coming along very nicely. Keep up the good work

superb execution.... lovely build very well done.
-
Thanks all for the positive comments. If all goes well it may be around in the Flesh at Telford............ That sound? the sound of the coach and horses being driven through the build!
-

Can you imagine if someone, in the future, came out with aF.3 conversion?

Congrats, my friend.
Steve
Or in fact an F3 per se..... You Listening Revell?
-
I do have to say that that Firebirds scheme is simply stunning an so well executed its Beautiful. I will have a go with the Adastra masks when I find a suitable subject.
Congratulations on a brilliant build its a corker!
BTW I didnt deliberately post my RFI on the same day to detract form your build. Iv'e just seen it after posting pics of my completed bird

P.s decs on the way in a couple of days.

Hi Folks, Im aware that the build thread somewhat dried up, but tbh im not really sure how interested you guys would be in the building of Hindenburger tanks Aim 9's and stuff. Anyhow, she is now what I would call finished.
The First of my trio of 11 Sqdn machines, ZE 887.
This conversion was from the Revell ECM kit together with Mendert's resin conversion set and some of Paul Parkes decals for the fin.
I am going to be honest and state that this aircraft will not stand up to close scrutiny. There are areas of VERY dodgy paintwork where the acrylic and enamel paint has reacted slightly and i had no way of replicating the white walkway limit dotted lines, so i ended up hand painting them. Yep i know they are solid and a little thick but!
The Skyflash markings are made up as are the missiles themselves ,actually being Sparrows, but a little comparison at the cosford museum highlighted little difference other than a small fairing on the Skyflash's
One other area of confusion, Surely a 1/32 pilot is a 1/32 pilot no matter what kit they come from? these boys are from the Tamiya F15 Eagle and appear a little small aginst the seat, in fact the front seater appears to be a real "tarse". In addition space in the cockpit is so much of a premium, the front seater has had to have his legs taken off below the knee to fit under the control consol!
Anyhow, on with the show.

Next up 2x Phantom builds for the F4 GB

M8 that is lovely and neat. TBH I thought another Grey, jet would be a little boring, how wrong I was. the scheme looks superb. The build thread is outstanding to boot!
Congrats. Will this be at Telford this year?
-
Cant agree more. Spinny prop things arnt my usual bag but I am really tempted by the Sturmovick
-
Excellent photography and non to shabby modelling to boot! very nice!
-
Nowt left of the aircraft fr them to destroy TBH its a complete mess and burnt out!
-
F15 has come down in Libya following mechanical failure.
Footage on BBC news show it to be a Lakenheath bird 91-0304 both Crew ejected and are ok.
-
Paint all better now!
Now we start to get onto the nice bit! decals are slowly going on. HOWEVER, there are NO 1/32 low vis decals out there so (dont ask me how) I have had to produce my own.
The 11sqdn marks are from an Xtradecal sheet, the Eagles are from Meinderts F3 set very carefully sealed and cut to produce a close approxiamtion of the white background.
The XI serial numbers and year markings are done very nicely by Parkes 682 decals which came as a two part yellow on white set. Despite getting these into register the yellow still looked a little pale and in order to reduce the relevant thickness Ive hand painted Citadel Bubonic Brown onto the surface. As the markings are a "mish mash" of a creation they are in no way perfect, however Im happy with how it is going. EXCEPT, the black is an acrylic from a Halfords rattle can. great gloss and rapid drying, BUT it has reacted with the thin fillet of filler I used all along the base of the spine / tail rippling slightly. Bugger! At this point I lost a little potential to get this finished, but all over that now!
Anyhow a few shots of the intended display set up as a taster.

More next time

Lovely, really lovely, well worth the wait. very well executed and the extra detail is really worth it.
Iv'e got one of these in my stash and am looking forward to doing it.
-
If they get into an air to air situation hopefully the pilots will remeber their training and how to execute a split P
Also if they can't fit Litening Pods to the Grobs maybe they can confuse Libiyan Intell by letting it slip on purpose that they are fitted out with P Pods ?
Knowing our lot, I pods!

This is an amusing thread. There some great answers here. Each one deserves a Ba boom after it!
the Ba boom not being a sound heard after the overflight of the RAF's squadron of paper darts.
Designed specifically as a second wave behind the Pea shooting Grobs, these are designed to take out the attacking forces soldiers remaining good eye. However, due to health and safety law, the "pointy" nose will have to be folded in and the device launched at no more than 1/2 mph.

-
Can you hear the sound of the RAF Grob tutors starting up to help enforce the Libiya no fly zone!
-
Nice work sunshine!
I can see what mine will look like, ........eventually.
Keep going!

Here we go
in F-4 Phantom II Single Type Group Build
Posted · Edited by Phartycr0c
I am going to attempt a first for me! effectively an F4 "dual build"
I will be building two F4's concurrently namely the following
1. 1/32 Tamia C/D in the beautiful Michigan ANG markings Namely 63-7583 "never trust a smiling cat"
I will be deciamting a rare as rocking horse poo cutting edge sheet CED 32003. and will literally be crying as I do it! cant get them for love nor money at the moment .
A pair of seemless sucker intakes completes this ensemble.
2. A 1/32 Revell F4F of ac number 38 + 49. yes you guessed it in 50th anniversary markings pretty much out the box . This will be sent to my close friend a phantom fan who as luck would have it celebrates his 50th Birthday in July.
The Revell bird is moulded in dark blue plastic so even I wont be able to mix any parts up. I think
Couple of box shots. for starters.
I notice a couple of other Michigan ANG builds....... I say we should all do our F4s these colours!!
Here goes!
