  1. Congratulations on a great build. Looks fantastic in those Naval colours. Cheers and well modelled.. Dave
  2. I work for a major airline and this sentiment still exists if you talk to certain members of our freight division. To quote an industry phrase…. “ Passengers are just self loading cargo!”. Cheers.. Dave
  3. Although I concur with @bjohns5 comments that this will likely kill off other manufacturers, the above comment holds equally as much weight. Like most on here, we are all a little suspicious with what this new Battle kit will look like, however at the end of the day it’s been a long neglected subject from all the major players, so Trumpeter deserve some credit for considering the type as a 2023 release. Let’s all hope it’s a good one. Cheers.. Dave
  4. Neat work, looks a real treat. Cheers.. Dave
  5. Those two look great and there’s a third on the way!! You’re a Mirage Machine Enzo.. excellent work. Cheers.. Dave
  6. Looks great in the one colour primer Enzo, very neat work there. Cheers.. Dave
  7. Some good solid modelling being done there Ray, it’s all looking quite impressive. Cheers.. Dave
  8. Best of luck with this excellent choice of subject. Although history suggests that a new kit will be announced within days of you completing this build, for some reason I still think we will be left short of a decent fishbowl 1/72 Canberra kit. I wish you every inch of success and it looks good so far. Cheers.. Dave
  9. I cannot see why it wouldn’t be, as we’ve got a Shackleton in the mix already. Sub spotting, artillery spotting…. It’s kinda similar in role I think. Cheers.. Dave.
  10. That’s looking superb Patrice well done. I’m surprised you’ve gone for an Israeli option seeing there’s so many great French SM schemes out there, but have to say that’s one of my favourites. Cheers.. Dave
  11. Nice start and quite detailed for an oldish kit. That chubby pilot seems pretty happy too! Cheers.. Dave
  12. That’s a big-un to commit to within a GB time period. Most certainly doable and hopefully will just fall together easily enough for you. I hear this moulded in UK version goes together better than the earlier (Indian moulded) Mk.2 Shack so that might be something. I’ve got both kits, although haven’t made a start to either. Cheers and all the best.. Dave
  13. You brave brave man, where did you find all this time Pat, have you retired and offloaded all those kids in the last few weeks? Cheers and best of luck.. Dave
  14. And we are ‘IKU’ …… that means ‘GO'! I made a quick start to this basic little Beechcraft Mentor kit and decided up front to tweak it a bit. The two seats had a few minor plastic imperfections that I couldn't seem to sand out, so I decided to make some seat cushions out of ribbed plastic card. The cockpit sidewalls have no detail whatsoever so I used some plastic strip and a little imagination to make something representative. Please don't use this as reference material, I have no idea what the real aircraft looks like. The instructions advise you to build up the main undercarriage struts before assembling the wings together so I took their advice and followed it. The instructions also provide a little kiddies warning… and I quote - “After the parts are taken out, cut the bag into pieces to prevent the infant from covering its head”! Fair enough I suppose!! Here’s the first progress pic. Cheers and good luck to all GB members.. Dave
  15. For what’s it worth and to make you fell better, I would have ‘impulsively’ done the same thing as well. Come to think of it, I just bought a Heller Black box Mirage 2000 last night, not having ever thought about the subject prior to this GB! She looks like a quick build, however you may get bogged down tidying up some of those joins, I’m sure you make a good go of it either way. Cheers.. Dave
  16. Not yet, but I will soon enough. Off to mow the lawn now in the midday heat… that should be fun!
  17. I’m sure this will be a popular build. Should be good to see as I’ve got one on the way too. Cheers.. Dave
  18. How nice does that overall package look… I can see why you’d like to add another. Good luck getting this one done, should be great. Cheers.. Dave
  19. My god this has come around fast…. I’ve got builds in the ‘Salty Dog’, ‘Dassault’ and todays (just started) ‘Big in Japan’ GB and now this one opens up! I’ve been trawling my stash trying to find something suitable and it just dawned on me how many kits Heller produced back in the day which included some type of Recon nose option. Off the top of my head I know of the - Saab Tunnan Saab Draken Saab Lansen Saab Viggen Mirage III RF-84 Thunderflash 1/48 RT-33 Shooting Star There may be others too. Now the hard bit.. what to choose? Cheers.. Dave
  20. Sorry Rob, I’ve been a regular Avalon airshow goer for probably the last five occasions, however will sit out this ‘Covid delayed’ event as I promised my son a trip to the Australian Grand Prix, which is only a few weeks apart. Last time I went to Avalon (2019), I think I spent more time sitting underneath the $200 seat ticket stand than on it…. boy was it hot that day, 39 degrees C and looking straight into the afternoon son, not a great day. Cheers and have fun.. Dave.
  21. What an excellent result from such a classic kit. This is another example of what can be done with old models with a little extra effort. Cheers and well modelled.. Dave.
  22. Please send your address Enzo and no doubt when the parcel(s) arrive Mrs. RL will be at your doorstep in no time waving some sharp implement!
  23. Another gem in the making Enzo. I’m really tempted to add one of these kits to my growing stash, however also feel it’s a bit of a crime to not attempt (at least) one of the classic Mirage F.1’ kits first. A recent bulk stash donation provided me with a 2% started Airfix F.1, so I’ll consider making that one up some day soon. Unfortunately I doubt it will be during this GB, although I’ll never say never. Cheers and watching on with intense interest.. Dave
  24. OK… who do I blame for this? Whilst finalising some postage details for an earlier order, I stupidly checked what other kits this seller had under the search title ‘Mirage’. Lo and behold, he had a Black Box Heller Mirage 2000C for a great price and as postage remained the same for both kits, added additional funds to cover this second model! These Group Builds do nothing for my stash reduction, although I am making a concerted effort to finish more GB’s and hence more kits this year. Im sure if you ask Mrs RL… I have been a good boy this year! Cheers.. Dave
