Can you imagine someone else reading this forum and having no clue what a Blenheim or Beaufighter was? What would be their impression of Bill's quote above!! I'll take three of them all the same.. Cheers Dave

1/144 V2 (A4) rocket
Rabbit Leader replied to Jabberwocky's topic in Ready for Inspection - SF & RealSpace
Love the size comparison... Very well done.. I'm sure we've all had a little chuckle at that.. Cheers.. Dave. -
Totally agree Steve.. Dave here (aka Rabbit Leader).. Along with Tora Tora Tora - BoB must be one of the best pictures ever made for the big screen.. Perhaps we could get together around your "Chully Bun" one day and recite every word over an ale or three.. Perhaps do some terrible modelling at the same time! Cheers.. Your pal from across the ditch..

Airfix 2013, some interesting new releases!
Rabbit Leader replied to Rob P's topic in The Rumourmonger
Yep - been there since the website upgrade. Along with Harrier GR1, Fw190 & Bomber Resupply set. Hopefully all to hit the shelves any time now. Cheers.. Dave -
Anyone know anything about the new 1:72 Revell Ju88 C-6 kit?
Rabbit Leader replied to rwoolven76's topic in Aircraft WWII
I'm sure it's based on their new tooled Ju88 A4 which is just a delight. Many parts go into building the front fuse / cockpit area, however this may be simplified in the C version. I have not seen any decent pics of this, however I'm sure if its this version your after, then this will probably be the best kit in 1/72 scale. Hopefully someone else will comment and prove me correct. Chees.. Dave. -
You forgot XXI for us Aussie modellers down here.. Although I would like to see additional parts for an Operation Firedog Beau.. Then followed by a Brigand?.. Cheers.. Dave
-
I like to chip in with a slight variation to the Beaufighter theme - how about a Beaufort ?? Would also gladly take a Brigand as well. I also believe that the current UK airshow theme seems like real possibilities after the Vampire and Gladiator boxings of this year, so perhaps we should really concentrate here. Whatever it/they will be - we will buy them all no doubt. Cheers.. Dave.

Starfighter, Give the guys at UML hobbies in Hong Kong a go. You can google search them and/or communicate with them via Facebook. I believe they are connected to the Dragon model group in a big way. This includes Cyberhobby etc. You never know your luck. Cheers.. Dave.

Gladiator starter set (A55206): what's in the box?
Rabbit Leader replied to Seahawk's topic in Aircraft WWII
Thanks Seahawk, Although I already have two of the standard series 2 boxed kits, I was still tempted to purchase this starter set for the decals. I am glad that you have informed us that the decal sheet is not much chop. I really cannot understand why Airfix do this as they would surely sell more kits if we received full stencils with all their kits. If these kits are targeted at the younger market then let them choose how many decals they wish to apply. I believe that the starter set Vampire came with a full set of stencils, however am not 100% sure. The starter set Gnat had a fairly basic decal sheet, however as the real a/c seemed fairly clean I have accepted this. On the other hand it would have been nice to have all five serials included. Hopefully Airfix will read this and rethink their decal sheet policy. Cheers.. Dave.- 13 replies

Airfix Harrier GR1 Box Arts now posted on Airfix website
Rabbit Leader replied to Dave Fleming's topic in Aircraft Cold War
Excuse my ignorance, however the AV-8A series of Harriers can't be that difficult to convert from a GR.1 base kit? We just need Hannants to come out with another Harrier decal sheet and add that long antenna thingy on top of the fuse. Cheers.. Dave -
"So Airfix don't have a homegrown Wellington kit at the moment as the B.III tool is thought to be worn out." Thank God for that.. !! Perhaps we might get a Merlin engined Welly, who would have thought that we'd get a Hecules engined Lanc! Cheers.. Dave

Just looked at Italeri's website an saw their rendition of three Maltese based Spitfires. Although one cannot be sure what is "correct", these options look somewhat really odd to me? Any thoughts? http://www.italeri.com/scheda.asp?idProdotto=2239 Cheers.. Dave

Surely some retooled RAF Bombers to compliment their soon to be released Bomber Supply Set. Blenheims are a must, closely followed by a new tooled Whitley and Hampden. I doubt whether they would bother with a new Stirling. Lets hope Italeri get this right!! For something a little more exotic - how about the full family of Hawker two seat per-war aircraft. Hart, Hind, Demon, Audax etc... Cheers .. Dave

No Jerry.. do not fight it. let your wallet do the talking - remember you work hard, are good to your wife and kids, do not smoke nor drink... go on - you deserve it. Plus the future box art of this set shows a B.II on it, so you just have to get one. Cheers.. Dave.

If I recall correctly this kit's cockpit is wide enough to be accurate for 1/32 scale not 1/48th.. A recent review I read compared the fuselage of this kit with one from Hasegawa. The Hasegawa canopy fell straight through the Hobby Boss cockpit opening with plenty of room to spare. Once again, this is such a shame as the moulding is very nice with the added bonus of folding wings. You just have to look at the clear parts above to see that something is not quite right. At first glance it would appear that they give you the bomb aimers glazing for an early Halifax rather than the Hellcat's windscreen? Unfortunatey anyone wanting a half accurate Hellcat would be best to steer well clear of this kit. Although lacking folding wings, the Eduard option is the way to go. Once again - another lost Trumpy-boss opportunity... Cheers Dave.

Richard, Many thanks for posting what are I think the first "published" images of this new box art. I for one would love to see more of the new images so please - PLEASE - post whatever you can. I truly believe that Airfix are on a real winner here. They are producing excellent kits with great decals all housed inside a very attractive package. Even better still, they are offering these for sale at very affordable prices. I can honestly say that I am certainly doing my bit at keeping this Airfix dream run going by buying and promoting many of these new kits. I have even got my 7 year old daughter inspired to join the hobby.. Although she seems to be rather more interested in planes with black crosses rather than red white and blue roundels?? Once again.. Many thanks and keep them coming.. Cheers... Dave

Where in the world did you find this box art image.. At the start of this year, this was one Airfix new tool that I was not going to purchase, however after seeing the sprue shots and box art I'm finding it very difficult not to add this to the list?. Do you have any other future box art designs for the Fw190 series 2 kit or dare I say it .... The big Jav? Cheers.. Dave.

Spitfire MkIIA, 1/48 Tamiya, me and... Edgar
Rabbit Leader replied to greatgonzo's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I'd give one of my two children away if I could model like that.... Possibly both of them come to think of it! That Spit has to be one of the best going around.. Congratulations on a top build. Cheers.. Dave. -
New-ish Airfix 1/72 C-47 Skytrain - Available now
Rabbit Leader replied to Rabbit Leader's topic in Aircraft WWII
Had no idea that the Esci and Italeri kits were different. Thanks for the info.. strange that Italeri are not releasing their own product. I suspect the Esci one must have been better. Cheers.. Dave. -
All, Just received this email from those nice people at Hattons to advise that the Airfix C-47 Skytrain (DC-3) is now available. I believe this may be a re-issue of the Italeri (possibly Esci) kit from many many years ago - although not 100% sure. Hopefully it is not their original mould from the 60's with no dihedral. Does anyone know what decals choices are on offer? - I suspect some type of RAF scheme and perhaps a US Berlin Airlift option as well. "Hello This is an automatically generated email to tell you that Airfix A07005 Douglas C-47 Skytrain transporter is now in stock and ready to purchase at http://www.ehattons.com/StockDetail.aspx?SID=60322 for £17.10." Cheers.. Dave.
-
Good Point.. forgot all about that one.. I know its early days, however does anyone know if this kit has a new decal sheet printed by Cartograf. If I recall - this was quite a good kit in its day and i'm sure it has been eclipsed by the Tamiya 1/72 kit, however as the Mossie was quite a smooth looking machine - this old tool may just still hold up quite well these days. Cheers.. Dave.
-
Nice artwork, however I suppose we can all strike out a new tool Mossie for 2014. Hopefully Airfix may have decided to offer us one of the other great British twins - like a New tool Beaufighter or (and) Blenheim perhaps??? Cheers.. Dave.
