  1. It would be interesting to start a poll for what ‘we the modelling fraternity’ would rather see Airfix kit next - a Me410 or the seriously neglected Bristol Beaufort. This experiment would cost Airfix nothing whilst giving them some type of marketing knowledge that they ‘might’ use for future decision making. Being a betting man - I predict the Beaufort would be a shoe in by a ratio of 10:1. Cheers.. Dave
  2. Steve, actually Franz did manage to finish it off (in between nappy changes) and boy did he do a lovely job of it. I’m surprised he has not posted it as an RFI, however am sure that he will now that you’ve asked. When he does - get your ‘like’ finger ready. Cheers.. Dave
  3. Haven’t Xtradecals done the RAF F-35 previously Stu? The beauty of the RAF scheme is that you can call it a 617 Sqd scheme one week and then another Squadron the next - cause it’s all the same!! Boring I know and hopefully this will be reconsidered in the future. Even the RAAF F-35’s are earmarked for different tails, all grey however at least there’s some unit ownership to be proud of. Cheers.. Dave
  4. I’d send you a box of razor blades Mike, however suspect they’ll get confiscated by some ‘over the top’ official on route. Oh! - the razor blades are meant for your wrists, not the F.2B!! Cheers and good luck.. Dave
  5. I quite fancy the RAF 100 logo and think a set of 13 July 2018 Flypast aircraft including some BBMF favourites might be a nice set of decals to have. There’s no need for national insignias which take up too much room, just the artwork, serials, codes (if applicable) and of course the tail logo - please! Cheers.. Dave
  6. Sincere apologies Tony, this post has now been corrected. You have now earned the right to call me 'Trevor' or any other name you fancy for the rest of this GB's running period!! Cheers.. Dave 'Trevor' !!
  7. Yeah - I know... Hey, there's a thought, what about two more Spits - one flown by Kiwi Al Deere and the other by Aussie BoB ace Pat Hughes. I could make a similar base and call it the Dominion Double or Anzacs circa 1940?? That might catch on. Cheers and thanks... Dave
  8. This is a lovely build. Well done. The colours look quite good to my eye (although I’m no colour barometer) and you’ve managed a nice smooth finish which is not easy to achieve at times. One suggestion if I may - ailerons work in opposite directions so if the port aileron is up, then the starboard one should be down. In all honesty, they are more noticeable in the neutral position when parked, so if you are to deploy these off neutral they would be just be a smidgen off. Time to pat yourself on the back and crack on with the next one. Cheers.. Dave
  9. Build List edited Some big news boys and girls... This GB has just hit the 100 build mark and we now have our very first 1976 entries thanks to Andy and his pair of Lynx choppers. That'll make co-host Mike @Ventora3300 a happy camper! Oh! - let's not forgot to mention another superbly built and photographed Gallery entry with TonyW's Prototype Lancaster. Very well modelled and displayed Tony. New Builds Grumman Widgeon / Gosling - JOCKNEY HMS Fearless - Romeo Alpha Yankee Westland Lynx (x2) - andyf117 Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 1a - Heather Gallery Entries Avro Lancaster - TonyW Build Tally Total Builds = 101 / Total Subjects = 88 / Gallery Entries = 26
  10. Here's a shout out for the author (and hopefully Britmodeller member) "Anthony Cooper". We have an autograph request from an esteemed BM member, so if you're attending QMHE on Saturday 25th August, we can hopefully exchange pleasantries. . Cheers.. Dave
  11. Thanks for the link... looks like he's also a native of my home town as well. If Anthony's a modeller, I've probably brushed past him at a local event and didn't even know I had! Looks as if I may need to open up that wallet and invest in a few more books, now I know these others are out. Cheers and thanks... Dave
  12. Nice tribute to Mr. Wellum here Harry, may he be proudly remembered and rest peacefully. Here is my Spit contribution - a Mk.1 built a couple of months ago as part of the RAF 100 GB. Cheers.. Dave
  13. This is all great news everyone. Well done. Let me settle in for the day (currently throwing down a cup of coffee before I head into work) and I'll update everything properly later today. Cheers.. Dave
  14. Thanks for the plaudits PC.. Most appreciated. I've just re-started reading 'Darwin Spitfires' myself, however did not realise that Anthony Cooper had written another book. I'll have to search for it - and when I do find it, what's the bet it will destract me by delaying my current build and see me starting another Spit or two before this year is out - such an easily led modeller that I am! Cheers.. Dave
  15. Apologies for being away from this thread for so long John, however it's so good to see you making such great progress with this Firefly. It's coming along wonderfully well. Keep it up my friend, all the hard work will be most rewarding. Cheers.. Dave
  16. I appreciate the latest round of comments gents and for the record I kinda fancy the Green - Brown look on Spits as well. Cheers and thanks.. Dave
  17. Looks like a cracking kit in whatever colour dress she decides to wear Tony! I must say this CC scheme does look quite smart. Cheers and beautifully modelled (yet again).. Dave
  18. You can always purchase this decal sheet from DK Decals ? Looks like it’s got all you need. Cheers.. Dave
  19. Can I chip in here? Rather than it being two roundels of different sizes, are we sure that the port wing is just not the US star and bar overpainted with Dark Green paint and same size RAF roundels painted over the top? This would give the impression that the roundels are different sizes. I’ve just expanded these photos on my phone and see a hint of colour / tone difference on the port wing in the right places which may suggest that similar size roundels appear on both wings. The profile included above may be right after all. Hard to say either way to be honest. Cheers.. Dave
  20. Build List edited Whoops !! - missed one. Apologies VMA. That's 96 builds and counting (unless I've forgotten a few more?) New Builds Queen Elizabeth 2 - VMA131 Marine Build Tally Total Builds = 96 / Total Subjects = 85 / Gallery Entries = 25
  21. Great going Mike. The painted cheatline will look much better than any decal anyway, so it's all probably a blessing in disguise. It's really starting to take shape now - and looking the goods. Cheers.. Dave.
  22. Thats looking every inch the classic kit that it is John and all your improvements will lift this model to another level. Cheers and well modelled... Dave.
  23. Build List edited The march to 100 builds continues!! We have seen four additional classic kits entered into this GB, and another two super completions added into the GB Gallery. New Builds Bristol Bloodhound - nimrod54 North American B-25 Mitchell - AdrianMF Henschel HS129 - Dermo245 Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 - Heather Gallery Entries Hawker Hurricane Mk. 1 - Heather Britten Norman Islander - Paul J Build Tally Total Builds = 95 / Total Subjects = 84 / Gallery Entries = 25
  24. I’ve not long been thinking the exact same thing. DK’s No.1 Squadron decal sheet is full of Hurri’s and as previously mentioned a new Hurricane IIb and IIc from Arma would also be a big ticket item. I’m sure Franta will be working on as many Hurricane decal profiles as possible - can’t get enough of his Spitfire decals and my wallet is getting a bit lighter of late! Cheers.. Dave
  25. Actually I'll admit, I forgot about the AZ/KP Spits as I don't have any of these as yet. From what I see, they look good. Apologies ...Dave
