  1. This is good news.. hopefully the start of some really good James Bond kits to come. Funnily enough (and a little off topic), I was only thinking the other day why Lego hasn’t taken up the opportunity to release a series of JB themed sets? I’m sure they’d sell really well. Cheers.. Dave
  2. The old but still very useful 'Fighting Colours' and 'Bombing Colours' books, penned by Michael JF Bowyer are very good and although long out of print can still be found relatively easily on the 2nd hand market. I grew up reading these books from cover to cover and they certainly helped me cement my knowledge of RAF colours and markings since my teenage years. Cheers.. Dave
  3. What a wonderful job you’ve done their Pat, there’s just so much detail and so much to look at within these photos. I see what you’re saying about all those open panels, however this kit is the centre piece of any collection, so needs to be showed off as much as possible. Two big thumbs up from me mate, excellent job all round. Cheers and well modelled.. Dave
  4. What an absolute gem of a Matchbox Sea Venom you've compiled there Chris. Although the end result took time to reach the finishing line, you can now marvel at its great appeal and precise finish for many more years to come. I am so glad those decals came in handy and it's nice to know that I was able to somehow repay someone else on here for all the excellent generosity and comradery that this website brings. Another classic advertisement for the fact that 'Old kits are still more than relevant - if built with a little TLC' Cheers and very well modelled.. Dave
  5. I will happily donate my winning 'Airfix Golden Wonka factory' ticket to any UK resident that is happy to beg / grovel for a 1/72 Avro Manchester or Avro Lincoln whilst on said tour. Cheers.. (lucky) Dave
  6. Yes, both Aussies and Kiwi’s used Scooters, however not the A-4B variant. I’m still not convinced Airfix would kit a Bearcat before some other well known Royal Naval types. Cheers.. Dave
  7. Good call. I seem to favour 1/72 although will happily upscale if I know there’s a good kit of a favoured subject not available in the smaller scale. Airfix’s big Jav is one of those kits that fits this bill. Have to say, great price, well done. Cheers.. Dave
  8. I would put a Grumman Bearcat in a “less likely for Airfix to kit” - kinda category. Besides pure Axis nation types, I cannot think of a modern day Hornby era tooling where a subject was chosen that didn’t serve in any of the British or Commonwealth air forces / Navy’s. I’m happy to be proven wrong on that theory, so let us know if they have. Cheers.. Dave
  9. Thanks Zac… and for those who have never heard of the place https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Waltham_Airfield Cheers.. Dave
  10. Chris, seeing you’ve done such a swell job here, I’ll send you mine so that it can turn out just as good! Beautiful work mate. Cheers.. Dave
  11. Normal Hardware grade Lacquer thinner does the trick for me.
  12. I didn’t even know this product existed, I’ve always used their Xtreme metals neat, straight out of the bottle. It’s quite thin enough for my liking. Hope you find an answer to your question. Cheers.. Dave
  13. Good to know, I’ve got one on its way, although could do with some new decals from the latest boxing. Cheers.. Dave
  14. Lovely work Paul and thanks again for providing solid and helpful feedback about these Canadian Banshee's. I agree with the others, we should see more of these kits on here, quite a nice looking aircraft and amazingly so much larger than the earlier F2H-2 version. Cheers and well modelled.. Dave
  15. Who would have thought that this old beastie could turn out so beautiful? Well, in your hands mate... anything's possible. Fantastic result and yet another excellent endorsement to the fact that old kits still have plenty of life left in them. Cheers and very well modelled.. Dave
  16. Do Airfix honestly need this type of ‘possible suggestions’ feedback? I’m sure they’ve been flooded with requests for years on end now. Even a cursory glance at any BM ‘Airfix 2022 / 2023 / 2024 etc’ post would highlight ten times as many subjects that they are ever likely to produce. Some on here would also seem to think that if the ‘suggestion’ doesn’t have the word “Spitfire” somewhere in it, the odds would have greatly reduced. This is just another marketing ploy to get you to visit their webpage and hopefully buy something. Cheers… Dave
  17. Wow... How good is this Sea Venom looking, simply superb Chris, well done mate. Cheers.. Dave
  18. Thanks for the feedback Steve, nice Clunk by the way… kinda like something I want to add to my collection. I’ll give it some thought, but that’s the kind of info I’m after. Cheers.. Dave
  19. So none of those Gallery models are yours? C’mon Chris, time to finish one off wouldn’t you say?
  20. Thanks Chris @dogsbody, I’ve since read a little more on their website and they say their decals are printed on one continuous sheet of paper, which requires individual decals to be cut out. They also mention something about colour density, so are not silk screen quality I gather. There’s a gallery of completed models that don’t look too bad, I might have to just bite the bullet and see for myself. Cheers.. Dave

    Asia GB

Funnily enough I was thinking along similar NEI lines. I would suspect that it would be eligible as that part of Indonesia was essentially under Dutch control at the time, but will leave it for Col to have the final say. Australia qualified for the World Cup as part of the Asian Football Conference, although would think Aussie subjects can’t play here…. strange that we Aussies still have a spot in the Eurovision songfest, I’m not sure we know where we really are! Cheers.. Dave.
  22. As the title suggests, I’d be keen to hear from anyone who has ordered / used decals from ‘Above and Below Graphics’, which are based in Canada? Their decal catalogue seems to cover a large range of Canadian subjects in all the major scales and before I put an order in for some Sabre and CF-100 decals, would like to know if their quality stands up to what I’d call good quality, individually cut, silk screen decals. Cheers and hoping for some reply / advice.. Dave
  23. Not sure how I missed this RFI Duncan, that’s come out superbly and the accompanying WIP thread is most informative. Thank-you. Cheers and very well modelled.. Dave.
