  1. looking very nice. Can't wait to see this with added shrubbery.
  2. Thank you Angus. The show cancellation was a bit of a downer. We tried all sorts of ideas to keep going, but events overtook us the same as everyone else this year. Eventually things will change and the shows will go on.
  3. Calling this finished. Two Airfix tanks total build time 19 hours 27 minutes. Thanks for looking.
  4. Bacon buttie, coeliac style. Getting very close to the end now. Cromwell is just about finished. As you can see Mr Tiger is not happy about the rubber bands for feet and is fighting back. Currently listening to Reign of Vengeance by Future World Music.
  5. It is scary to think that the gun in the Tiger is longer than the Cromwell. These are quite interesting builds I am learning that there are subtle differences in how you build and paint armour compared to aircraft. My hat goes off to the afv modellers who can make these things look heavy.
  6. As time ticks on I have been informed by SWIMBO that I need to prep Sunday dinner, so stop mucking about with bits of plastic 😀. Main painting is complete, with decal, details and a light weathering to consider. For now, here i am. Further updates to come.
  7. The beauty of Blitzbuild is the focusing of the mind in problematical situations. Problem, Tamiya Desert Yellow has decided to react with something inside my airbrush and refuse to come out. Solution, strip and retry. Problem, solution didn't work, no other Desert Yellow. Solution, go to Mr. Hobby paint. Solution works, but not the right colour. Tiger 2 will be in Luftwaffe desert yellow. I blame the ingenuity of the mechanics.
  8. Today begins with no work other than a strip down and inspection. I noticed a bit of dried paint near the tip so gave the nozzle a clean as well. Hope this works as I have no back up desert yellow.
  9. This is it for the night. The Cromwell is now green and just needs a few bits of paint for details. The Tiger is fighting back. For some reason my desert yellow has decided not to go through the airbrush resulting in two strip downs. Thought it better to walk away and try tomorrow. Night night. Still on track though.
  10. 10pm. Today I have been mostly doing, wheels. Vorwarts, schnell schnell, verdamnt.
  11. Cromwell ready for the paint shop. What have I learned so far? 1. Targets have lots of fiddly bits. 2. Sub assemblies are useful. 3. Taking the time to get the gun to go up and down can be negated instantly by knocking over your extra thin. 4. Extra thin spills take the ink off your cutting mat. 5. Extra thin spills take you back to the high you got of Britfix 77. Next up, Tiger 2. Music Rise by John Dreamer.
  12. An hour in and the Cromwell is coming together nicely. Speckled Hen is going down nicely. Currently listening to The New Earth by Audiomachine
  13. And we are off 1917 as a start time. Just got back from the sea side, fish and chips for tea, a bottle of beer by my side and Breath of Life by Dustin Krizan on Alexa.
  14. place holder. I have to go out today, so start time will be later on. Superhero option only in this brain.
  15. This will be the one to beat. Can't wait to see how it goes.
  16. I know a great shop but it is a bit like Arkwright in open all hours. You never leave with just what you went in for
  17. Welcome to the nut House Jon from a fellow northerner in the Manchester area. This is a great place to learn new techniques so dive right in.
  18. A couple of rattle cans will speed up the process. Nice Beau by the way.
  19. currently I am building the Airfix Lynx. Generally I airbrush but there are bits which need the old hairy stick. One thing struck me was that using old Tamiya paint was easy to paint with one coat. The newer stuff took two or three. Progress.
  20. Well. Never let it be said that I want to take it easy but as I am going to be short on time I will do a target instead of a plane to avoid having to sort out a cockpit or other interior. 18 hours-ish task this time including sleep but how to push it? I give you Yes, I will do both. How hard can it be?
  21. I expected nothing less than this. 16 hour challenge?
  22. This is the first Blitzbuild where I have a problem. Not the lack of kit, but the No 1 son coming round for the first time since he left home for a new job. Now I could try to drag him in, but SWIMBO has decreed that we have to have family time including a day out. Also I have to pick him up and take him home as well as help cook dinners. Doesn't she understand modelling? This gives me 3 options. 1, try to fit a build in between 8pm Saturday 12 noon Sunday. 2, beg forgiveness and miss a Blitzbuild. 3, be allowed to extend forward into Friday pm to gain a few extra hours. I throw myself on the Blitzbuild faithful as to which option to take.
  23. Thank you, Sir. I shall add this to the calendar.
