  1. "But now it begins to appear that a number of things which were supposed to have been finished are coming to life again, as such things do, on occasion: good and evil, the gods and the evil spirits of greed and bestiality. I do not know if the end of the world is at hand, as Dostoyevsky said. But this I do know, that these are years of a turning in human affairs…"

Indeed! it's time things settled down with a more grown up government and media but that's just the grumpy old man in me talking... that sounds wrong... the grumpy old side of me?

Time to let the youngsters take over and find a corner of a local pub to sit muttering in methinks.

Indeed the world is in a mess. OK, let me rephrase that: the world is f....d!!!!

Ced, keep me a stool in that pub of yours!

    Happy birthday Winston.

I 'liked' and 'unliked' this update in a desperate battle between empathy and confused etiquette. So really I just hope this delivery comes through soon Edward....

  5. After a night of staying up and watching Youtubed old BBC interviews from the 1980s with WWI pilots and T. O. M. Sopwith, I've concluded it just might be impossible not to love the strange little island that produced them.

Ah but you were more than halfway in love with Britain already, Edward.

Got a link for the interviews please?

It's the sort of deeply disingenuous pablum I'd expect to come out of a coterie of tech bros tooling around the latter-day Gomorrah of Silicon Valley, and they did not disappoint. "We realize we made a mistake by making a great service extremely useful and free. Now we'd like you to prepare for your pips to squeak."

  7. At this point, I don't even think 2016 deserves a Spitfire build from me. I'll build them in 2017, as top cover for all the good things that are gonna need to break on through.

  14. Fun fact! The crew of Hampden EA-F/P1333, the box  art subject for the Valom B Mk.I kit in 1/712, survived a crash-landing to become POWs in 1940. The pilot, pre-war regular MGP Stretton DFM, recorded an oral history for the IWM in 1978: https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/80003766

  15. Getting to the point where I think about next builds. Polish MiG-29? Su-9? Su-24? Harrier GR3? One of three hundred other kits on hand? Maybe some sort of psychiatric therapy? Infinite possibilities.

May you be able soon to buy a much bigger house, so that you can stash O so many more kits away, O so safely!!!

In the meantime, have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones.

You're a gent, Stew! Your advice is also solid, as, like most kits I buy, it would simply form part of a rude nest of kits upon which I would lay curled up, like Smaug.

Getting used to the 'new look'... 'following' friends is useful; better on the iPad.

I've changed my default 'activity stream' but I'm still getting every post in the list rather than updated threads...

Gratz! I admit my FB feed is filled with various hobby pages I follow, intermixed with ads in every other post it seems. I don't think I have seen a friend's post in a while. I'll scope your feed for the event!

    4. jean

      jean

Mr. P, find comfort in the simple pleasures of life.

Having the time to curse the day of your birth simply means that you have too much time on your hand. I haven't been able to do that for longer than I can remember...

I started a HobbyBoss easy build 6 months ago... I rest my case.

Regarding your children, I am interested, as I am running an illegal Tantalite mining operation and child labour is always welcome. You will be well paid for them, and when they are returned to you (did I just hear "the deal is off?") they will be real men! And you will have had time to finish your stash in the intervening years.

      What are friends for?

Sterilization, of course, is another option for the long term.

      It's a good point PC.

Other post Brexit issues include pensions; my UK based monthly pension has decreased in real value by around 25% this year (£ to AUD$).

This will be happening to all those that had their working career in the U.K., and for whatever reason find themselves currently living overseas.

I still buy British whenever possible to try to help the economy, but feel it may be a feeble gesture  .
