  1. Heyo, I was looking over my Propagteam Hunter decal sheet, and I noted the Omani Hunter F.4; it's kind of cool, and I have a friend who lived in Oman for a bit, so I thought maybe I'd build it some day down the line. However, it looks to me like the Hunter pictured is an FGA 9 (or whatever the equivalent export mark is), at least going by the tail pipe, and a quick google search for Omani Hunters/ROAF Hunters turned up a lot of grey/grey camo scheme photos, but no dark earth/middlestone ones. Is the decal sheet totally in error?
  2. Is this something that I could achieve with judicious sanding? What's the size differential? Why do I feel slightly sleazy asking that question? Thank you everyone who's weighed in so far, this is all immensely helpful!
  3. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY! YESSSSS! Erm, yes, what are DP Casper decals like?
  4. Does anyone make a smaller airbrake for the earlier Hunters?
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rising-Decals-1-48...=item1e6c8af672 Twelve bucks, including S&H, in the good old US of A.
  6. I've seen the Rising Decals SEAC set in 1/48 still, it has a few RAF Thunderbolts.
  7. If I were converting a Hunter to an F.5 using the Aeroclub set, would I need to use the 1/72 Revell Hunter F.6, or would the FGA.9 work just as well? I'm a little hazy on the differences betwixt the two, and the FGA9 seems much easier to obtain.
  8. My understanding is that Tamiya is the way to go on this, but I know nothing of Thunderbolts and welcome the tutelage of governesses.
  9. I've been doubling and tripling up Sword kits for some time now, saved my marriage, it did.
  10. This is great, I've wanted to build some RAF Thunderbolts, and the Rising Decals sheet seems to be no longer available.
  11. Oh, it's only an Anson, Dougie.
  12. I'm from the USA too! I understand that many of the pilots on both sides postwar became friends (Tuck and Galland and so forth), and I'm not trying to slag anyone who likes to build Luftwaffe or IJA/IJN/minor axis power planes or tanks - I build some myself, for my "Rogues Gallery" - but to me, they're the bad guys who were killing my childhood heroes, and I can't get past it. Not logical, p'raps, but there you are.
  13. I realize I'm in the minority, and perhaps I'm just feeling rather tribal, but I've never felt particularly deep admiration for any of the Axis aces.
  14. Follow-up question w/r/t the Revell F.6 into an F.5: I think I've read that the F.5 and earlier marks had (in addition to no dogteeth, different engine exhaust, and [for the Sapphire Hunters] different vents after the wings)a differently-shaped airbrake than the F.6, is this correct? Does anyone make this in 1/72?
  15. I only post here, but my avatar IS a handsome little fellow, I can see why anyone would want to be represented by him.
  16. Where did you see this news? Is this 1/48 or 1/72?
  17. I'm sure I'll look a fool for asking, but what's the plane hanging from the rafters?
  18. IIRC, JG 27 was known for a false claiming scandal later in the war, and there are a few days when Marseille single-handedly claimed more Desert Air Force aircraft that were lost all day. There are some other days where it might be technically possible for him to have shot down as many aircraft as he claimed, but it would reflect rather poorly on the rest of the Luftwaffe in Africa.
  19. IIRC, wasn't Luftwaffe paint at least semi-gloss for much of the war? Seem to recall seeing a photo of a 109 pilot reflected on the surface of his airplane. PS Beautiful model!
  20. That's realistically probably closed to my skill level, since I suspect a resin kit would have a dreaded vacform canopy. Erm, how does one contact him?
  21. Are those dummy or replica guns in the background, or actual weapons?
  22. Can anyone tell me anything about this kit? Is it mixed-media, plastic, resin? Is it any good? I can't find any reviews of it.
  23. I will reiterate my statement here, apropos of nothing, that any decal maker to produce a "Made in Germany, Finished in England/Normandy/Africa/Italy/etc" series of decals for Luftwaffe planes brought down by Allied fighters will see almost all there is to see of my vast fortune.
