  1. I think I explained myself badly - I'm alarmingly inarticulate. I have instructions (and the kit) for the 1/72 scale Eduard Hellcat I and II profipack. I wanted to know what increase in size I'd need to set the photocopier for for the drawings in the instructions to be 1/72.
  2. Heyo, does anyone know offhand what level of magnification I would need to use on the Eduard Hellcat I plans to be able to produce photocopies I could cut up to use for templates? Failing that, is there a 1/72 plan of the Hellcat showing the RN camouflage pattern?
  3. Hullo all! In the past month and a half, I've managed to finish five models, of what I would consider moderately-below-average quality compared to the builds I see here, but quite splendid quality for my skill level (alarmingly low). As always, a catalog of errors bedeviled me: I lost the Ki-44's sight in the carpet, I wrecked a balkankreuz on the Fw190 and had to use a larger spare, I got a swastika wrong way 'round on the 109 and lost the tropical filter, the Sea Fury's landing gear is more fragile than a child's dreams, etc. etc. I used the Airfix Vc decals on the Sword kit, cribbing a bit from the information in the Special Hobby 1/48 kit instructions.
  4. Phenomenal models, and a great linking theme. Are they all 1/72?
  5. What would an appropriate acrylic colour be for MiG-15s and MiG-17s circa 1956?
  6. Any chances you could be persuaded (begged) to post some photos of the series?
  7. I can't imagine it's Nazi issues, as Osprey has lovingly cataloged the Waffen-SS in excruciating detail through the years.
  8. I was a little unimpressed, myself. It seemed to me to be a fairly generic and uninspired general history of the Battle -- not a bad introductory book for a vaguely curious adult or a bright young person, but I felt it had little to offer in terms of insight.
  9. Spruebrothers has the Hasegawa Lanc for, I believe, $25 US.
  10. Standard size for FAA codes is 24", correct?
  11. Quite so, but I believe Caine/Canfield's Spitfire was a Mark IX or XVI, as IIRC it had the longer nose, four-bladed prop, and twin radiators.
  12. I love you guys! So let me make sure I've got this right: black spinner (alas!); no outboard cannon stubs, four-blade prop; clipped wings; huge red "S". It's that last one that scuppers me; is there a good substitute S decal that could be found somewhere?
  13. I'm thinking I want to build this particular aircraft next; I have the Aeromaster decal sheet, though and it doesn't seem to jive up with what the 1/48 Special Hobby kit shows; aside from the code difference, which Aeromaster acknowledges, the Aeromaster sheet also depicts the Seafire with unclipped wings and, apparently, no serial number visible. I've been unable to find a decent photo of the Seafire in question, and thought I'd ask the Britmodeller hivemind for assistance. Is the Aeromaster sheet totally worthless? Will I need to give up my dream of building a sharkey-mouthed Seafire IIc? Were the wings clipped, or what?
  14. My favourite character! Eight-year-old me was broken-hearted when his Spitfire blew up.
  15. It suffered from a spate of mysterious crashes (apparently something to do with hydraulic fluid -- which contained either -- spurting out of the gauges at face level, necessitating oxygen masks to be worn below 10,000 feet) and its low-altitude-rated Merlin 32 gave it some trouble during its time with the Eastern Fleet, where it needed to fly over Javanese mountain ranges. I've heard as well that it was unable to carry a full payload in Far Eastern waters and that its range suffered greatly.
  16. I've loved the earlier Firebrand II ever since I found out about it. Such a weird huge beast.
  17. Wow, what a find! What's the ship in the 6th photo down? Is it an E-Class cruiser?
  18. I always use Bookfinder.com myself, helps me find the best price.
  19. Air Enthusiast September/October 2001, in fact. Joe, if you shoot me a PM with your email, I can pass on the PDF that CarLos kindly sent to me, despite your blasphemous decision not to depict the aircraft of the great JE-J.
  20. I feel quite foolish for not having looked for this using site search now. Thanks, both of you, for the links! I'm a little bummed, though, it looks like the paint scheme on the decal sheet is totally specious, as are, apparently, the super cool national insignia! EDIT: Except for a few years in the late 1970s.
