  1. 2015 Do17, just in time for the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, I daresay.
  2. Actually, IIRC, the RAF has a very high proportion of trainers to combat aircraft, something like 33% of its strength; the USAF has only 20% of its strength in trainers, and the FAF, which is probably closest to the RAF in size and role these days, has a nearly identical percentage to the USAF.
  3. I still love these old things. If I ever make a billion dollars, I'll form a company to make all the projected Cold War-era jets on both sides.
  4. It's a wonder any Spitfires remained aboveground postwar.
  5. Some countries in Europe outlaw swastikas except for educational purposes. So many kits intended for a European market omit them, or break them up into multiple pieces.
  6. Why yes! http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234944362-eurofighter-typhoon-comparison-build-172/ http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234934776-1-3-6-11-17-29-no-not-my-lottery-numbers-typhoon-squadrons/ Both of these were very helpful to me.
  7. Sometimes I call them "The Mekons". I really like "Teeth", I think it's their best single. Always impressed they could play their instruments with those weedy little curvy arms.
  8. All this aside, a Tomcat does not seem terribly in-theme with what Airfix has been releasing. More importantly, I hate Tomcats.
  9. Mechanoids. They turned up in The Chase, and were intended to be as marketable as Daleks. They never took off to the same extent, though.
  10. Nam Sibyllam quidem Cumis ego ipse oculis meis vidi in ampulla pendere, et cum illi pueri dicerent: Σίβυλλα τί θέλεις; respondebat illa: ἀποθανεῖν θέλω.

      Probably - it's been a while since I did the Classics :)

  11. I wish, I dearly wish that Day of the Locust had been about an air transportable light tank.
  12. I can't imagine the polo mints will last. a) If the "silver wings" era taught us nothing else, it's that the RAF will cheerily go with what looks good over what makes sense when it comes to camouflage, and (b ) it would be very confusing if the UK had to go to war with Greece.
  13. For those of you who've seen the ending of Day of the Locust, I imagine Margate will look much the same if there's no Beaufighter for 2014. (NB - I have two Hase Beaus, so I have no dog in this fight.)
  14. I'm being facetious; I doubt very much if I could even tell between a hard or soft delineation in a black and white photo.
  15. Well, I quite like the Iliad and even the Odyssey. The Aeneid is wretched, but that's to be expected of Virgil, a cheap jumped-up imitator.
  16. As you know, the WWII-era Germans were able to freehand airbrush hard delineations, thanks to their Teutonic thoroughness and the aid of Nazi superscience.
  17. This is like the Britmodeller Iliad. "Sing through me, oh muse, of the man, of the man of bacon sarnies..." (Yes, I know that's the Odyssey.)
  18. Well, I wouldn't like do all of them...I'm very lazy.
  19. Side question: I succumbed to temptation today, as Squadron is currently selling the Airfix Type 45 for US$26. Is there a good way to airbrush it, or a standard method? Sorry to hijack the thread.
  20. Here are the images, for those of us (such as myself) too lazy to click through.
  21. I was going to say, Great Britain's very own Erinyes were called Halifax, Lancaster, and Stirling, names calculated to strike fear into no one. Still a sight better than the B-58 Hustler, though.
  22. I thought Wolfpack had rereleased the Italeri F-5A in 1/72?
  23. Is there anything worse than buying a a kit only THEN to find a review panning it?
