    I really respect Revell's commitment to producing the worst instructions of any of the major brands, not merely in terms of utility, but also, with Teutonic thoroughness, in terms of paper quality, symbology, etc.

      I've just seen the instructions for the new Revell C-54. The section 99 paint scheme looks like something for a WW2 assembly ship. I know it's down to the shading etc used to denote the different colours, but it's quite psychedelic.

      I think Messr. Shelfspace hits the nail on the head. The instructions are presented in such a manner that, at any moment, I expect to find a solid lump of balsa in lieu of the sprues, and an unhelpful pictogram indicating I should start carving until I get the general shape of the aircraft being modelled.
