  1. Yes, that'd be correct. Silk was a rare enough product during WWII, so you'd want to re-use parachutes as much as possible.
  2. You could just use a can of Coke... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-cNTb_KeCY
  3. I've always just applied them as I would to any other part of the kit without any trouble (i.e. using a two-part setting system). I've never applied any sort of varnish - I'm concerned as to how the rubber will react to the varnish.
  4. Well I've got both, and I'd choose the Vertigo over the SRAM. The SRAM is OK, but the Vertigo is just a better product.
  5. The Aerodrome - http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/safrica/bell2.php - has some info, which pretty much covers what's in 'Above the Trenches'. As for schemes, I guess his aircraft would have been in standard 3 Sqd markings - overall PC10 with CDL undersides and two white vertical bars on the rear fuselage.
  6. No dates, and WNW doesn't tend to give them either. For all we know, it could be here next week or it could still be two or three years away. The 'Post War' versions of the Brisfit and DH.9a have been listed on their website as 'In Development' for at least two years now, and the promised figures and 'Special Edition' re-releases have never seen the light of day, despite being mentioned and pictured in the link below dated March 2010... http://www.hyperscale.com/2010/features/wwinterviewdw_1.htm
  7. They look pretty cool, I might be tempted!
  8. ATP have one listed as in stock - http://www.atpkits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1294
  9. Tamiya decals have always been on the thick side, but I though that the Spitfires decals were made by Cartograph?
  10. A 1/72 Hornet from Airfix would be pretty neat, and they do seem to be focusing on their 'Britishness' right now.
  11. Vertigo make some nice jigs - http://www.vertigo-miniatures.com/vertigo/eshop/15-1-VERTIGO-jigs
  12. I've had the WNW Fokker E.III on the go now for over a year....
  13. I'd like almost any of the MFH 1/12th kits. I'd love to see them come up with a 1/12 Mazda 787B, or an Eagle Weslake from 1967, or even a Pacific PR01 & PR02 - two cars that I actually worked on!
  14. I've seen it reported that the interior fuselage of the Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa were painted/varnished in Silbergrau - the Blaugrau (as recommended by WnW) interiors were only applied to the Pfalz D.VII, D.VIII and D.XII.
  15. It's nice to see Airfix coming back into WWI modelling.
  16. The Eindecker would be the easiest - no upper wing to attach - but the D.VII is pretty easy too.
  17. I'm not holding my breath, though...
  18. The danger with that approach is that the 'Handling Charge' is you paying for Parcel Force to submit all the relevant paperwork to HMRC - by not paying it, Parcel Force would be under no obligation to submit it. Probably not an issue if you do it once or twice, but if you're seen as a repeat offender (or if you're a business) then you could face a couple of problems; - HMRC coming after you for their outstanding paperwork (plus associated fines for not submitting on time). - Parcel Force could, in theory, decline your 'VAT Only' payment and withhold delivery until you prove that you have paid HMRC directly and submitted the appropriate paperwork. I'm not sure why people object to paying the Handling Charge - having a relative who works in imports, I can tell you that £8 is a bargain compared to the hassle of dealing with it yourself. And in any case, you know you're going to be paying it in advance, so you factor that into how much you want to pay for a particular kit. As others have mentioned, buying from WNW direct and paying the VAT and Handling Charge is still cheaper than buying from Hannants.
  19. Chaps, I'm planning on using a set of spoked wheels for my WNW Fokker E.III, and I'm wondering what colour the spokes and wheel rims should be - any thoughts? Cheers, Vince
  20. A Vickers 'Gunbus' wouldn't go amiss either...
  21. WNW had previously stated that they were not interested in making kits of WWI types that were already available in 1/32, which included the Camel and Dr.1 (the Sopwith Triplane and Pfalz D.III ended up being produced by both Roden and WNW at the same time and, yes, the Roden Tripehound is short in the fuselage as the kit was based on the prototype, not the production machine). They have, however, confirmed that a Camel is in development - probably because the Academy Camel is not as widely available as it used to be, and it's an older kit. Don't dismiss the Roden Dr.1, though. It's a fine kit in it's own right.
  22. My Grandfather served on the Nelson's sister ship - HMS Rodney - during WWII (including the Bismark action). I'd consider getting one of these kits and building it up for my mum as the Rodney (assuming someone comes out with an appropriate conversion set - which I'm hoping will just be a name change...).
  23. Yep, they've also been on the WNW website for some time as well. The AEG is due for release in Jan/Feb 2015. Not sure what's holding up the other two - you'd think that all that's needed is an extra sprue for the new parts, plus revised decals and instructions, yet by my reckoning they've been 'Coming Soon' for at least a year now...
  24. From the e-copy of the latest Fine Scale Modeller...
