How do and welcome to the 'darkside' The kit was originally issued in 1977 (Crocodile version with flame gun and fuel trailer) and was the dogs danglies when first released I've built a few of these over the years and it builds up nice with no major problems as I recall. I believe Eduard do a couple of etch sets for it. You may want to think about replacing the gun. RB Model do a very nice 75mm in turned aluminium with a seperate brass muzzle brake. Fruil also make metal tracks for the kit. The plastic ones provided are nice and are gluable in later issues. If you like Churchill's check out the AFV Club range. More complex (and expensive) than the Tamiya kit and some come complete with indy links included. As for painting, its all down to personal choice. The original tanks were painted SCC15 Olive Drab, which was more brown in tone than US Olive Drab. I tend to use Tamiya XF51 Kahki Drab which looks close once weathered down etc (but I'm no expert) Hope you do a work in progress on this. Will be interested to see how you get on. Regards, Steve

You have several options for kits. UK Cromwell (Tamiya) Churchill Mkvii and Crocodile (Tamiya) US AM26 Pershing (Tamiya, Hobby Boss) M4A3E8 (Dragon) M24 Chaffee (Italeri Bronco) M46 Patton (Dragon) As regards decals, check out Bison. Im sure they Do Korean war markings for various nations. The Tamiya M26 and i think the Crocodile kit has Korean war markings in the box Regard Steve

fatfingers replied to fatfingers's topic in Ready for Inspection - SF & RealSpace
Thanks chaps, Roy, it stand about 3 inches from the feet to the top of the comms masts, so its quite small really. Regards, Steve -
How do chaps, Seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment. Started this on Sat night and finished off this morning with a coat of matt varnish. This is the third one of these that i've bulit, and I never get bored of them! Got one more to do in the stash, then I may have to 're-plenish' Painted with Vallejo. The sand on the base is from the sand pit where my good lady works (Child Care) and the 'rocks' are from the garden. Comments and suggestions welcome as always. Regards, Steve

How do chaps, Been a while since I built anything. So fresh from the tank shed today we have the Airfix MkI Female. Lovely little kit. Painted in Vallejo and Tamiya matt varnish to finish off. Base is from some poncy candle that mrs fatfingers bought. Covered with filler and Games Workshop static grass. Might have to get my mitts on an Emhar 72nd MkIV and see what thats like! Comments welcome as always. Regards, Steve

Quite possibly. The film A Bridge Too Far used fibreglass mock up's mounted on VW car chassis for close ups of the upper hull/turrets and for long shots of the tanks at dusk etc. One of the tanks even turned up in the Time Bandits! Both fantastic films by the way! Nice find Regards, Steve

Proper job! The panzer grey looks spot on Regards, Steve

Finningley 92. Russian Knights SU27 Display Team doing low level pass in formation. Kids screaming and car alarms going off. The sonic boom actually blew a tooth of my brothers who was with us! Vulcan display. Nimrod display All of it infact. Last 'proper' air show I went to... Regards, Steve

Thanks Silver Fox, Yes, it is a lovely kit. I've got the MkIII version in the stash. These Tamiya 48th scale armour kits could be rather addictive if i let my self! Regards, Steve

Fantastic stuff! How about one in digital desert camo? Regards, Steve

Aye up Mark, These Academy kits are motorized with a remote control attached by wires into the rear hull. From what I can tell they're not overly accurate and are more toy than model. But, if your not too worried by that and with some good reference material and a bit of plasti-card decent model may result! Regards, Steve

How do chaps, Finished thus one a while back, but have only just remembered to post up the finished article! Painted with Vallejo and finished with GW washes. Please feel free to comment. Regards, Steve

How do chaps, Latest off the bench. I really love do these little GW Sentinel's. Will be adding more of them to the stash just as soon as I can! When it was ready for paint my good lady said 'paint it blue' So I did! The blue is Tamiya X4 toned down with a bit of Sky Grey. The yellow on the foot and the cheeck armour is Vallejo Panzer Yellow. The ground work is made up from brick dust/bits and washes. My last one is already on the bench ready to be started. Desert Yellow and Heavy Flamer for this one me thinks! Regards, Steve
