  1. Yep noticed that too. I noticed somewhere that the reason was an increased digital use of the magazines. Well we are living in the digital age, and I'm not taking out individual subscriptions of magazines I have only a passing interest in. In my view it is a very stupid and shortsighted decision taken by Key publishing - probably one who is in charge of an excel sheet "bean counter" type that thinks is will strengthen physical sales... 😞 Flemming
  2. Absolutely great job of an 'unbuildable' kit. Not many of those around - finished models that is! 😉 Flemming
  3. Sad news indeed. Condolences. I have used them through mail before the internet really took off in the late nineties -and it was a sure trip out west on our honeymoon trip to London in '90. A lovely scruffy hobbyshop with a LOT of stuff of all kinds. Loved the detail with the small and low 'saloondoor' at that time with a sign that said something like 'Staff only - executive suite' - where the area behind was anything but suite like! 😉 I revisited I think it was back en 2009 on a new address, but still in West Drayton. TAHS was probably the only reason to go to West Drayton! I'm shocked that TAHS is not on Tripadvisor top 10 list of things to see and do in West Drayton! :-0 Best regards Flemming
  4. Well done - nice build of a rather basic kit. Really like the carbon detailing. Flemming
  5. Got the kit now from Russian seller at ebay. Kit is looking okay, but will badly need thermal tile decals. Looking forward to those mentioned. Dare I mention a need for a 'Orbiter Attachment Fixture Kit' for the big Revell transport aeroplane? 🙂 Flemming
  6. The decal softener you used was that Microscales own or something else? Flemming
  7. The age old discussion... The amount of scruffyness will be depending on the team. McLaren were at that time a worldchampionship team - not a tail end of the field with This is the M23 at the end of the season - note the reflection in the bodywork. Not any rust, dents or nicks in the paint. Just say'in scan0024 by Flemming Hansen, on Flickr Flemming
  8. Great pics. There is a lot of debate here in Denmark about the noiselevels of the F-35 which should be much louder than the F-16. Any views on that? Flemming
  9. Hi. Obviously your first build of the 1:12 M23. You will get a humongous seamline where the bottom and top part of the tub will meet. That will require filling and sanding. Which is why I will question your choice of painting and decalling the lower part already... It is possible to assemble the top part and lower part without inserting the other parts first. All you have to do is to remove a couple of pins where the central tub (silver part) attaches to the body. In that way you can slide the part in from behind and carefully build up the front suspension. It will require some lateral thinking, but it can be done and the glory part is that the seamline on the body can be handled. As well as the body can be painted in its entirety. By the way. Drop that weathering stuff you intend. It is not a rally car. It is not left in a shed somewhere. It is flawed. This car - TODAY - yes march 2019 - is looking pristine at MTC (McLaren Technology Centre) Best regards Flemming Chairman in the committee to prevent cruelty done to 1:12 M23 kits anywhere! 😉
  10. I have the original AMT/Ertl kit that has been 'subassembled' over the years. To my dismay the decals suffer from the usual 'extreme yellowing' of AMT decals, where the carrierfilm actually turns brown... Bought another kit - this time Italeri - with some better decals. Will probably try to finish it? Your display is very nice with that 'in flight' mode. Looks good. But yes the model will fight anyone! Flemming
  11. I'd clearly recommend getting a replacement set of decals for that Hun. br Flemming
  12. The reply I feared... 😉 Well it won't be for this season I'm afraid, but it is noted! Flemming
  13. Hi Okay then . A 100-400 mk II. I have the ageing mk. 1 version and a buddy praising the mk. II after making a swap. Looks like I'll have to go shopping! 🙂 You have been really praised with the weather! Good weather for the 100-400. Just a tad cloudy and it doesn't perform as good. Stunning pictures. Best regards Flemming
  14. Hi Excellent pictures! Dare I ask what kind of glass you are using? Either are you using a 500 or 600mm or the flightline is probably close to the crowdline I'd guess? From quality it doesn't look too cropped. Good job Best regards Flemming
  15. Hi Nice thread. I like these old fun builds. But my god this Mosquito looks badly inaccurate! ;-) A case where the boxart is more accurate by a garden mile! Flemming
  16. Buyer beware!!! Even the mention of TVM on F1M.com forum will get the thread blocked immediately! He has a really bad reputation for taking paid preorders (in the past at least) and not fulfilling the orders within even unreasonable time. There was some links appearing of him appearing under another name in a Ducati (expesive Italian motorcycle...) forum showing off his latest purchase---. There has been endless excuses of illness /death in family/ bad relationship with supplier ( I bet it has something to with a non payment but that may be sarcastic old me) in the past in his newsletters. But the Ducati story did nothing good for him http://www.diavel-forum.com/index.php?/topic/286-hi-from-grand-rapids-mi/ When that is said it has to be mentioned that his products - when he aren't making WM castings of perfectly OK Tamiya parts - are very ok. I have way back bought some wheel nuts with axles for 312T series of 1:12 kits. And these are good! But I'm afraid that the 'big kits' with a lot of turned metal, etchings and so on probably are too much for a one man band? Juts google 'Paul Raterink' and see a lot of 'satisfied' customers telling about it... Flemming
  17. Looking very good. You got a good result from that rather old and not very advanced kit. Some rather good although very different cars Matchbox did than, like the Surtees F1, Tyrrell P34, Porsche 935 and this one. Flemming
  18. Hi Just got the kit yesterday and I'm glad that the main body parts are very sturdy and complete mouldings that presents themselves well rather that the rather flimsy bodyparts of the Mirage! The aircraft will probably get less painful to look at overtime! Regards Flemming
  19. Hi Looking very good and very realistic with the various Kapton coverings. Best regards Flemming
  20. Hi MFH kits are for very experienced builders. They don't fall together like a Tamiya kit so should not be regarded as such. But for every release they improve upon how the kits are assembled and if there should be any problems with any part or decal they have a customer service second to none. Just write to Model Factory Hiro at [email protected] and they will help you with any part or decal you may have botched up. Generally can be said that the F1 cars are way easier to build than the sportscars. Best regards Flemming
  21. Exactly! But there is a but... I'm in sort of the same situation like mr. Mattblack and during a mancave 2.0 rebuild over the winter I got rid of some of the kits i'd never build due to lack of interest. My interest is mainly cars and aircraft but for some unexplained reason various tanks and lorries had made their entry inte the collection several years ago. They had to go. If it was in too bad a state I simply gave it away for someone else to enjoy. That made space for some better and NEW kits! So my theory is that if a kit collection has managed to build ITSELF to a certain size - a reduction in one corner will automatically add in another. The stack size is a constant! Flemming
  22. Hi I found the new F-18 from Kinetic a great upward step in quality compared to the early F-16 kits. A highly recommended kit in my view. Flemming
  23. Good looking Jag - and from 6th squadron! What's not to like? Flemming
