A Tale of Two Cromwells and a Comet 1B
sandsmodels replied to echen's topic in Work in Progress - Armour
yes psc models are aimed at gamers but lots of modelers do buy them and many do conversions on them, again nice model for those on a budget or those who want more than 1 or 2 the same. they have plenty of models planned.- 71 replies

A Tale of Two Cromwells and a Comet 1B

very nice models and pics. armourfast models are not aimed at the experienced modeler but the gamers and younger modelers so any criticism should be thought out with the aimed market, they make up easily and with stowage ect are fine for 90% of modelers who are not making show winning pieces. maybe that is all some can afford as well as they are cheaper than almost all other kits.- 71 replies

all the models were bought by airfix and were released by them but not for long hence the silly prices some are fetching like the bedford mk trucks. i wonder if they will ever get re-released? i found a trader who had 12 of the 105mm guns for sale at telford a few years ago so i bought the lot as they seemed to be the rarest one of the range. nice models.

i have some of those kraz 260 trucks, they are fine for super detailing, cheap and easy to get hold of. also ideal for conversions, not all of us want super dooper really detailed kits, just something to work with, the tank transporter trailer is fine added to the fabbri diecast maz 8x8 truck converted to a 5th wheel tractor.

there is quite a bit of footage of european used lvt's both uk & usa on youtube and they were also used a lot in italy. nice model btw. the designation lvt4 and lvta4 does get some confused!

1:35 scale postwar British tank transporters?
sandsmodels replied to bootneck's topic in AFV Cold War
what about accurate armour, not cheap but they do quite a few post ww2 trucks like antar, commander & oshkosh -
the british mans are 2 types the sx with coil springs and the hx with leaf springs the easy way to tell is on the sx the spare is aligned with the road wheel and the hx spare is across the cab. i have scratch built both types in 72 scale, but the revell one can be converted into the sx types. the lower cab front and roof are different and of course the gb ones have gb bodies fitted in the uk.

Airfix 1970 & 1971 soft plastic Abbot and Stalwart
sandsmodels replied to P-3s rule's topic in AFV Cold War
hi i am a profesional modeler and make moulds and casting daily. making copies of the models/parts would be a copyright issue unless for own use so i prefere to make my own master models for my sales range. the other problem is cuting the models as the polythene is not very forgiving and easily damaged if the knife slips. -
Airfix 1970 & 1971 soft plastic Abbot and Stalwart
sandsmodels replied to P-3s rule's topic in AFV Cold War
the problem with both these and the other polythene vehicles is glueing the bits onto them. nothing sticks very well for long. i have used sand paper to roughen up the bases on polythene fish tank vegitation with superglue but it will if knocked just fall off the superglue. good luck with it, i have quite a few polythene models and have not tried too much detailing. i have however made better wheels, cab interior and a winch for the antar tank trans in 72 scale. -
