  1. This beauty isn't one of mine. I'm just the one who's lucky enough to have it displayed on my shelf! This is Hasegawa's brilliant F-2A in 1/48 as finished by master-modeller Periklis Sale, who is -of course- a member here. I'm particularly fond of the asymmetric JASDF loadout and that "hard to replicate on a scale model" JASDF colour scheme. I'm sure you'll agree, it's a very nice piece. It's a shame no other nation latched on to the "agile falcon" concept. Would make for some interesting "what if" subjects using this amazing kit! Anyway, massive credit to Periklis. Here are the pics:
  2. Hey folks, I've made a few errors when building the old Testors S4 UFO kit. A few scuff marks here and there on the upper surface that I've tried to cover with an overly thick primer coat. Is there any way of sanding the thing back down in order to get a completely smooth finish? The upper surfaces are supposed to be smooth, but, sadly, thanks to my impatience, they aren't. Any suggestions in terms of the tools that I would require to rectify this? Kind regards, Blair
  3. Hey guys, I'm going to use this as a "first attempt" at using the Alclad laquer metallics. I'm looking to achieve a very high-shine, almost otherworldly result. As such, I'm wondering which of the laquers to use, and how I should go about applying them to the model. I understand that they are best applied over a gloss black? This will be somewhat of a side project for me, as I mainly concentrate on modern Israeli air force subjects.
  4. Yes, the Israeli Green is very close to Sky If you're exclusivley working with vallejo, mix their pastel green from the MC range with a drop of one of the darker greens from their model air range. Works a treat.
  5. So. C: Python 4s and gas bags. D: I'm thinking a Delilah and an LGB? Along with sidewinders on the tips and pythons and gasbags on the pylons. I: Spice perhaps? Maybe a couple of JDAMs?
  6. Hey guys, I'm building up a colection of Israeli F-16 models, and am starting to think about armament options. I've got my Netz covered, as I'm doing a straight Osirak raid loadout. For my "C" Barak, I'm going for 2 wingtip python 4 missiles, 2 AMRAAM missiles, 2 JDAMs and 2 300 gal tanks. No centerline tank. No target pods. Will this aircraft need target pods? Surely the JDAMs are just GPS guided, and a target pod would just be superfluous? For my "D" Barak, I aim to have some specialised ordinance. What would you guys recommend? I'm going for the Scorpion Squadron, circa 2011. Would the Delilah be appropriate? I want to take advantage of the fact that the aircraft is a 2 seater. For my "I" Sufa, I'm willing to take recommendations. I'll be using the Hasegawa kit, so from what I understand, I'll be restricted to AIM9s on the wingtips, correct? I could just go pure fighter/escort on this one with AIM 9s, Python 5s, etc? If so, what pods would I need? My stash includes the Kinetic C Barak, the Hasegawa D Barak, and the Hasegawa I Sufa, along with both Skunkworks IDF weapon sets. I also have the Academy F-15I Ra'am, which I haven't started yet, so I understand that there will be some spares left over from that. Any suggestions?
  7. Many thanks all. I've shopped around to try and find the Hasegawa F-16A kit, but can't -for the life of me- find any in stock anywhere. I've tried hannants, emodels, all the major online stores. Particularly interested in the "Netz" rebox of the Hasegawa "A" model. Any ideas on who might have one for sale?
  8. Many thanks, In terms of armament, any aftermarket weapon sets that I should be looking at? From what I can gather, they used mk82 dumb/iron bombs correct? Also what's the best 1:48 basis for the project?
  9. Hey guys, I shall be building an F-16A "Netz" circa the famed Osirak raid. What should be on my shopping list in terms of 1:48 kits, decals, aftermarket parts, etc? I'll be using Vallejo Model Air colours, and I can't find a decent match for IDF/AF green. Any ideas on a decent mix substitute? Kind regards, Blair
  10. ...the trigger goes forward. Indeed. I have this odd problem with my airbrush, it's the Expo AB602 brush/compressor "deal", and I'm using Vallejo Model Air, and Model Colour acrylics. Basically, the airbrush will work, intermittently as advertised for several minutes until it decides to give up the ghost. When this happens, paint will only be atomised/released from the brush if the trigger is pulled back and then let-go (ie, the needle is retracted and then pushed forward). The only way to alleviate this is to clean the brush, but it starts happening within minutes of use. The compressor is working at a steady 15 psi, and the airbrush trigger mech seems to be working ok. Many thanks, Blair
