  1. Hi guys. After a very long time away from modelling, I've got the mojo (and time) back. After a few easier 1/72 aircraft kits, I've got into 1/35 AFV modelling again, and picked up the Meng Husky TSV, which I'm very much enjoying. I'm tempted to get the AA update set, mainly for the interior details. After looking at the walk-around pics in the Walkarounds forum ( surprised to find it there... 😄 ) I noticed a heck of a lot of wires and connecting cables hanging about. Would anyone know how all the equipment is connected? There are two stations I'm primarily interested in - the middle and rear crew compartment storage racks, which seem to hold most of the electrical boxes of magic. I'd love to model the wires/leads/bits and bobs all connected to roughly the right place for the radios, crew intercom and whatever else is in those boxes, but haven't found any pics of it all in situ. Anyone able to help out? I'm not looking for a full wiring schematic, but an indication of "top one connected to the bottom one" would be nice. Also, it looks like there are two mounting points on the dash in front of the front seat passenger, which aren't modelled on the kit. One sits smack-bang in the window, the other just to the side of the main console (looks a bit like a mobile phone holder). Any clues what they are for? I await the genius of the BritModeller hive mind. All help appreciated! 😁
  2. To me this part of the argument doesn't hold water. Why don't "they" try to keep Richard Dawkins quiet then? He seems to be the number one spokesman for anti-religious views at the moment. "They" don't try to prevent his views being heard, which are strongly against any form of religion at all! Also, I would have thought "they" would try to hush up the papers reporting Catholic abuse of children too? But that has been a hot topic for a number of years now. And why introduce laws that are unpopular to many religious views such as gay marriage? Hang on, I hear a can of worms being opened... I also cannot believe any form of governement can be that orgnised, as they seem singularly unable to stay on top of other, relatively easier, issues such as banks, energy suppliers, education, health, international relations... Need I go on?!? -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- I remember a story from the Sunday Sport many years ago, when I worked in a paper shop. It proudly declared that a womans son had been transformed into a fish finger. She was adamant about this fact, and it was even included in a TV programme about the paper around the same time. She was on camera stating that she thought her son was now a fish finger. She seemed to truly believe it as well, and showed the fish finger to the reporters. Now I'm not saying people who believe in aliens are the equivalent of a woman who thinks her son is a fish finger, but if she can believe that with little or no evidence (and maybe some emotional and mental issues too, who knows...) then isn't it possible for people to use limited data to reach other conclusions that are not entirely correct? We once thought the world was flat because we had never been all the way around it. Our observations of the heavens made us think the world was at the centre of the solar system. Is it then so hard to believe that, without all the evidence, and working with the best of our knowledge and understanding, we could come to the conclusion that something we don't understand fully can only be alien, when in fact it is not? One of my friends once reported to me that her kettle had come on in the middle of the night on a number of occasions, waking her up. She thought it was due to a ghost. I think it is much more likely that there was an electrical problem. We never did conduct a seance or take apart the kettle to find out, as neither of us are mediums or electricians, but that did not change either of our views as to why it had happened. Without all the evidence, it is impossible for either of us to be 100% certain of the cause. Now, forgive me for reducing the discussion to anecdotes about a fish finger and a faulty kettle, but I think people are a lot stranger and more unpredictable than the universe is by a very, very large margin!! Yes, people witness things that cannot be readily explained, but people also come to conclusions based on their own understanding of situations and the evidence at hand. My .
  3. But surely they are always destined to be time travellers, and therefore their travel back to our time will always have happened? Then they aren't changing history, but merely becoming part of it by doing what they were always meant to do.... I think time travel is too complicated for my brain.
  4. What if UFOs aren't aliens, but merely humans travelling through time, come to visit us in our primitive, pre-time travel idiocy?!?! That might explain why they don't stop off and make proper contact, because they know what we are like already. They can pootle around, looking at the past and seeing what they have read about first-hand. And all they had to do was master time travel. That must be easier than interstellar travel, right? Did I just blow anyones mind?
  5. Just had an AAC WAH-64D fly over my house in Crawley, going south. I presume his other half was somewhere about (I have had several pairs over me in the last couple of years), but didn't see it! Looked like he had one external tank on the port side, and what was probably CRV-7 rocket pods on the outer pylons, but I couldn't be sure. I'm fairly certain he didn't have anything on the inboard starboard pylon, which I thought was a bit strange.
  6. Well, I have heard that female physiology is better suited to space flight anyway. They are shorter, carry less weight and need less (slightly...) food. Also, they tend to have slightly lower blood pressure, which means they can deal with the stress of take-off better. Apparently... But you try finding shoes that go with a big white suit!!
  7. I used to love Lego when I was a kid! I wish I still had it all! And I think it is a much better toy for children than a console. Gets them being creative instead of just button mashing. Or perhaps I am getting old...
  8. Yeah, very interesting. And designed by an 18 year old?!?! Crazy people out there... My only worry would be that there will still be nuclear waste left over from it, and we don't really have anything to do with it other than bury it! I am sure that we don't want to start building up a pile of tiny reactors to deal with, when we don't have any way of sorting out the waste from the bigger ones!! Maybe if it was a fusion reactor...
  9. Yeah, I agree that out-of-scale wire would look silly! Just out of interest, I had a quick look on Little Cars and they have steel wire at .08mm, which gives a scale thickness of 5 mm. Not much difference, right? Sorry, I have just made a lot more work for you, haven't I?
  10. Looking really good Erwin! Is there going to be any barbed wire added too?
  11. I'm sorry, but those two things do not make up for everything else!!! Nothing makes up for everything else. I am sure that when my first child is born, I shall quietly say to myself 'This is all very nice, but I once watched the Star Wars Christmas Special...'
  12. Just so long as Disney don't decide to re-release the Star Wars Christmas Special... That is probably the most dire piece of filming I have had the misfortune to see!!!!
  13. Could that smell be more related to what the ISS is made of (metal etc), and how it works (ie: electricity) than actually space? And the fact that humans begin to smell after a while. I would have thought space would smell of hydrogen and helium. So zeppelins and birthday ballons, then...
  14. I have never seent he version with the voice-over, but I have read some reviews of it, and it doesn't sound as good. Might have to watch it one day though. I think the unicorn was supposed to be a hint that Gaff (Edward J Olmos) knew about Deckards dream, thus suggesting that Deckard is in fact a replicant, because someone knows details about his dreams. A bit like the implanted memories that Rachael has. There are plenty of other hints at Deckard being a replicant, see here, here and here if you want some interesting stuff to read...
  15. To be honest I think they are probably worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them!! Most of the time on eBay, people will only bid as much as they think it should cost them. Unless you get 2 or 3 people who really want them, and are willing to bid a lot to secure them, then chances are they won't make a huge amount. From a personal viewpoint, I wouldn't have gone much above £15 for the decals, as the supplied sheets were dissapointing, but not horrendous! I stole some noseart from a Phantom, and weathered heavily over the whole lot, so they settled in well after a while!! The loader hand... hmmm, maybe a tenner? Depends how hard it would be to adapt the model to pose it in different positions, and how much better it would look. I never made it, but I saw a couple completed, and it looked ok as it was. Just my personal opinions, but hope it helps a bit...
